Holy moly...will definitely go back. This place packs em in, so reservations are a must. We had it all and we have zero complaints, nothing but praise. The spaghetti app is a must have and the lamb lasagna is to die for! OMG the banana brown butter tart, jeez so good. The specialty cocktails before dinner were delish and the champagne (Shalam) during dinner was definitely a delicious rose!! The Chartreuse (green) was the perfect end to my dinner! Delicious! The waitstaff was on point and the atmosphere was popping!! thank you Herbsaint! We're coming back!

I arrived just prior to them getting busy, I agree with the others that say "a must try place" I started with a soup of the day it was a very nice bowl of gumbo, then they brought my a surprise it was a chicken crackling with a fantastic sause and topped with mint, I ordered the beet salad and must say it was the best beet salad I have had in a very long time, the beets were perfectly done and the combination of oranges, grapefruit, yogurt, olive oil and pistachio nuts was divine, my next dish was gnocchi ,I'm not sure but I think it was baked? To perfection I must say with a broth and shaved parm it was light and delish, finally the Chocolate moose, again like the previous it was superb, the menu is a bit out of the norm, but the food is a real treat and a must try place.

This place has always gotten good reviews. I was there for lunch with friends and while the food was good, I wouldn't say that it was outstanding. Could have been an "off day" for them but I have had food that tasted better.

So incredibly delicious. I had the lamb lasagna and it was to die for. Just melted in my mouth. Their food was very good. Pricing is higher but so worth it. The setting was very nice. The staff was so kind and attentive. Would definitely go again

All around disappointed. Reservation was at 8:30, and they were already out of steak, our waitress also informed us that 2 of the other items we requested may be gone as well, luckily they weren't. Plates were just average. We ordered the duck, lamb and chicken.

Made a reservation for Fri @ 830 the night before, which having a reservation is highly recommended on the weekend. Line looked long when we got there, but w/ RSVP we were seated right away. Good food, waiters were very attentive and knowledgeable about food. Wine list is huge (6 pages) but only 10 options for by the glass or half bottle.

Not a place I would recommend. The tables are jammed in so tightly that you can barely sit down. We waited for our table at the standing bar only to be run into by waitresses trying to serve tables. They sat us at the back across from the kitchen entrance, everytime the door opened I cringed, the floor was dirty with debris that never made it to the garbage can. The resturant is very noisy and the "serving window" makes you feel like you are in a cafeteria. We decided on several small plates, the horseradish on the short ribs brought tears to my eye, and the ceviche was salty. Ugh, very disappointing.

Spent my wedding dinner at Herbsaint and it was absolutely fantastic! Amazing food, the spaghetti with fried poached egg was really good, but the best part was our waitresses Emily and Emma that took really good care of us on our special night. Thank you girls!

I was very excited to dine at Herbsaint but must say I was very dissappointed and the more I think on it the more I'm wishing I would have taken my girlfriend somewhere else for the money we spent. Space was a little cramped but overall they were very accommodating and the place had a nice vibe. Service was top notch. Hardly any wait at all to be helped and our server was very helpful and informative. I'd heard amazing things about the gumbo so we ordered that and the ceviche. Ceviche was very good with a nice citrus tanginess to it but the gumbo was honestly the worst I've ever had. Just tasted burnt and had a weird overwhelming smokiness that was very strange. She got the tuna sandwich which was amazing and for the price felt very worth it. I got the Salmon entree and it felt like a complete rip off. The taste was good but nothing special and for the price it was seriously lacking substance. I just feel like it needed something more than a sprinkle of olives on top and a sad side of kale to be sold at that price point.

Loved the location of this restaurant and the wine/ food/ service was wonderful! My dad had the fried blueberry pie for dessert and said it was outstanding! I especially loved the watermelon crab gazpacho!

The food and staff are very good. The portion sizes are disappointing for several dishes, especially the spaghetti. The egg on the dish stood out more than it should, for lack of surrounding pasta. Small plates here are bougie portion sizes that are more like tapas. That was our main issue, hitting $100 on 2 drinks, 1 soup, and 3 small plates, before entrees, which are also fairly petit. Didn t feel our money went far enough. We are not over eaters, we are both I shape with reasonable appetites and experienced foodies.
Not overly disappointed, but we filled up on bread, left hungry, and preferred other high end places during our trip, which offered equally fancy tastes from award winning chefs, but better value. I d recommend this place for any couple whose happy to spend $200 on a full dinner, or those with very small appetites. Again, they offer great tasting food, we were hoping to see our money go a bit farther here. If that had been the case, easily would have been 5 stars.

Their was a male bartender (has a beard) was very accommodating, friendly and professional. He made my experience there great. I was there on business and he helped to pass the time. It turned out we were both from California. Had a great time there and the way they redid the bar looks great!!!

This is our favorite place to bring our family and friends when they come to New Orleans because Herbsaint has all the flavors we want to showcase AND excellenct cocktails. The gumbo is arguably the best non-seafood gumbo in town, and is a must try! We usually order the spaghetti, gnocchi, and the short rib to start and then split a couple of entrees. But be sure to save room for dessert! We've love every sweet thing we've tried.

Surprisingly hopping spot for a early spring Monday night with no festivals in town. Cocktails were nice, with a heavy focus on forgotten classic counterparts of today's mixed drinks. Starter of rabbit and andouille sausage gumbo was perfectly cooked, but far over seasoned with salt. Unfortunate because it could have been a perfect dish. Mains were mixed, from a well done pork belly, to a well cooked but forgettable steak frites, and a lamb that should have been better. The duck entree was over salted again, but the rice was the culprit this time. Chocolate pudding cake was to die for. Banana butter tart also a great choice. For four with cocktails, three courses, and 4 glasses of wine $300 inclusive of tip. Overall good, a few significant flaws, and a bit pricey.

Try the Housemade Spaghetti with Guanciale and Fried-Poached Farm Egg. This small plate is topped with a fried-poached egg AND a crispy piece of cured pork cheek (which is called guanciale in Italy). After just half the dish, I felt so joyous and satiated that I almost forgot we had lamb neck and duck leg coming (which were also wonderful). For dessert, try the banana brown butter tart with salted caramel ice cream.
Oh, and make a reservation. Sometimes there's room at the bar, but reservations for the dining area fill up early.

I come to New Orleans at least twice a year and this restaurant has been on my list for a while. Finally tried it recently and I ll certainly be back! Excellent food. I m particular, the fried oysters were some of the best I ve ever put in my mouth and that s saying something considering how often I come to town!

Very positive experience. I arrive before 5 PM looking to have an early dinner. Many places kitchens are not yet open but Herbsaint was ready willing and able to help out.
let me start by saying: their Chef cooked my steak au poivre perfectly!
I am a former vegetarian and the mere pinkest hint of blood in my filet still makes me queasy so I handed the chef a tough request; cook my filet so it isn t pink on the inside. He did not fail me. I expected it to come out butterflied or seriously crispy on the outside or flaky like brisket but it was perfectly tender (genius addition of blue cheese) and flavorful. Unmistakably a steak au poivre. Bravo!
The au poivre sauce was indeed peppery and also salty from the blue cheese. Since the cheese was also creamy I d guess it s gorgonzola so don t be put off if you re scared of French-style blues.
I enjoyed the malted choc mousse dessert. I don t love dark chocolate but the maltiness and creme anglais took the edge off.
My only feedback for the establishment? Update the online menu. The difference between the advertised steak Zabuton ($34) and the actual offering of steak au poivre ($48) will be hard to explain to my boss when he reviews my expenses. Also $6 for sparkling water for one person seems high.

Very good, but small cocktails. Wonderful gumbo and baked asiago. Nice fried oysters. Duck confit was fine, but was leg and thigh, not breast. Filet was small, but tender and tasty. Somewhat dry and slightly overcooked. Desserts were great. Wait staff was attentive. Pacing was good. Ladies at front desk were not very enthusiastic as greeters. But, overall a 4 star restaurant.

We came for lunch (3/4/19) so maybe that was our first mistake but our experience here was one I would never come back for. There were only a couple tables in the restaurant so the waitstaff was basically standing around with miserable looks on their faces. I think the only time the server smiled at us was when he brought the check. We ordered the short ribs which are suppose to melt in your mouth but ended up just being chewy. The duck confit was dry and tough. The gnocchi was okay. Everything was overly salty. After the server ran out credit card, he came by the table to pick up the check book. When we told him we weren't done with it, we wanted to leave a personal note about our experience, he keep insisting on taking it. That was probably the most interaction we had received from him the entire meal.

Food was goodish, but our server was a few degrees off. Not too friendly or overly attentive for such a slow night. I don't know if they are trying to be "snobby" to fulfill a level of perceived status, but the food isn't THAT good.

Easily one of our favorite restaurants in New Orle...
Easily one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans. We started with cocktails, the Kentucky Cat5. We sampled a few of the small plates a special smoked salmon (so fresh and smoky) in olive oil and herbs, short ribs (so soft and tender) with hash browns (perfectly crispy), and fried oysters (went great with the spicy sauce and coleslaw). These were all amazing.
If that wasn't enough, our mains were also excellent. We had the duck confirm and the salmon. While my wife missed the detail of olives on top (and she doesn't like olives) of the salmon, she still thought the flavor, texture, and cook was very nice. The duck was perfectly crispy and very tender not the biggest rice fan, but it was a great companion.
Finally we ended on the pot de creme, a Mexican inspired cream and cookies. It was decadent yet light enough to not be overwhelming.
