A large hema with a large product range (also bakery and fresh sandwiches)

The Hollandse Unit Prizes Maatschappij Amsterdam (HEMA) has traditionally been a great store. Certainly in that cozy Pijp.

Not so easy to find things (iPhone cable), when I was there, twice they did not have what I needed. Store is not so orderly, but it is easy to order a quick snack to eat.

Beautiful shop in which all products are presented in an attractive and modern way!
And the quality?

Cheap prices and commodity accordingly. In my opinion

Hema has been around for as long as I exist. Old-fashioned rock-solid department store. Service has gone down in the last decades. For example, I will not be able to get a "Doei doei" after the checkout.

Lots of cashiers and helpful personnel, nice kids toys but not very durable.

Lovely department store, great value plus quality, friendly service.

Well-organized shop and sells quite good quality. Too bad that the employee behind the cash register was very uninterested.

Hema is always a good idea! Went in for leggings and came out with Christmas decorations

The guy at the food section never get it right. Either he puts cream on the ice coffee despite my repetitive requests not to and then says he has no straws and offers a spoon.

Department store spread throughout the city with reasonable variety.

Called today with HEMA asking what types of pastries are lactose-free, after the answer: "a blueberry cake and an apple crumble cake" decided to do one of both. As it turns out, the blueberries were not lactose-free and the lady randomly mentioned some of the pastry types, despite the fact that I asked up to 4 times if it was really lactose-free. The cakes themselves were tasty but this incident was disappointing.

Went today there with two children. I walked around Hema looking for colouring books, one of the staff was standing and sorting something on a shelf. I walked up to her and politely said "I am sorry to interrupt you, but where can I find colouring books. She looked up with a very annoying face and responded if Dutch "don't you see that I am busy here". What a terrible way to speak to customers, and treat someone like that. She was in her 50-is and with short hair.

This store is very good, quality is very good and for a very nice low price.
