Beautiful architecture, buildings and grounds. We were first booked in a room in the ballroom building, which was dark, dingy and ill furnished with furniture that was too large for the space. Also you can hear any and all music from any events in the ballroom itself. We asked to be moved and had a lovely room with much more space, a balcony, and peace and quiet. The pool is great, but as other reviews state, it is small. The fitness center and locker rooms were great. We had really delicious room service but the buffet breakfast was bad. Skip it. Overall, has tons of potential but can use a facelift.

The staffs are friendly. There are plenty of parking. The room is clean. They also have a nice heated pool. Overall, it's good. The only thing that I don't like is the room size; but it's not a deal breaker to me
We had our Toastmasters officer meeting at the restaurant outdoor. We can order drinks and foods while we had our meeting. This place has a lot of parkings.
We were staying at the hotel, not attending a conference there. I did observe a conference that was going on, and I would highly recommend this venue for a small conference. I also spoke to someone in Monterey about our stay at the Hayes Mansion, and she recounted lovely memories of her high school prom being held there.
It's a beautiful historic hotel...from the outside. Unfortunately the rooms have seen their better days. The decor is dated and in well used condition. Hallway carpets are trashed stretched out with wrinkles and tape. On the positive it's super clean, bedding is comfortable, wifi works well, flat screen tv is modern, good water pressure in the shower, and the in room k-cup machine is nice to have. Apparently Hilton just bought this place, so with some refreshing this place can return to its former glory. 3.5 stars.
It was super expensive the food in the bar was bad and beds in the rooms really sucked. Most of the stuff there is outdated. Not worth $2,000 for a week at all.
We arrived and there was plenty of parking but there wasn't an obvious indication of where the lobby was to check in. There was a spider on our bed when we walked in. Other than that it was a nice hotel
I stayed here for a conference in February, and I hope to return with my beloved to experience the mansion again. I had great service, the food was wonderful, and I love how the walking path/park is right next door. It felt like a retreat despite being in the city.
Firstly, I do understand that the hotel was undergoing construction, so I tried to set my expectations appropriately. However, there were a number of issues with the stay.
There was nearly no wayfinding. We had trouble locating the elevator, stairs, and the room because there wasn't sufficient signage.
A piece of furniture had clearly been newly treated with polyurethane because there fumes coming from it were so strong that we ended up keeping our windows open day and night.
Housekeeping forgot to include items, e.g., washcloth, coffee.
We also didn't find the location very convenient. It seemed we needed to drive to get to anything
Cons:. We reserved two rooms. First room AC picture attached. Second room was ready two hours after checking. Excused given -"We honor late check out and run into problems because of that".
The mansion looks really nice. The double queen room is spacious and clean. It comes with fridge, TV and free WiFi. The bathroom is also big and has all the amenities that needed. Definitely stay here again next time.
Nice facility charming character filled buildings, smelled cannabis several times when entering room/ hallway, other than that very clean and well appointed.
Beautiful historical building, grounds and bar. Staff was nice. Only complaint was limited parking, the underground parking garage was opened as we were leaving later though
Troublesome parking. Lobby has old house smell. Surroundings seem suburban. Pool area cramped. On positive side the lawn area is picturesque for wedding parties. Historic elements were interesting.
Always a fine experience eating here. Today I also took the walking tour around the building by following the little pamphlet given out at the front desk. The building is the second Hayes mansion which was finished in 1905. The first mansion built in 1891 burned down in 1899. The Hayes family seems to have had a problem with fire, even with a fire fighting system built into the new mansion there was a fire in the house and fires in other buildings on the property. When you read the plaques on the pictures you will find out about what burned down and when. But fire is not something to worry about if you chose to stay at this modernized hotel, so go ahead and book a weekend for yourself. Fridays and Saturdays seem to be the best deals for room rates. The grounds in this hotel are pretty, the pool is comfortable to sit about or swim in. There is a bar as well as an outdoor space to sit and have a drink. There are many nooks to sit in and enjoy a good read. Many companies hold meetings and conferences during the week in the many rooms available. This is a historic hotel and you will feel like you are in the last century, but with modern WiFi connection and air conditioning. The restaurant has excellent service, delicious food and elegant decor. This is a nice place for lunch and today I had the chef's salad, which was large and delicious. You can also have Sunday brunch here and it is excellent, but it is more of a formal dress up affair for most people. You can come casual too, but a collared shirt would help you fit in for dining here. This is a luxurious and historic place and a real treat right in South San Jose. Across the front lawn is Edenvale Garden Park where you can stroll or jog around and get some exercise. This hotel is owned by the City of San Jose and is hospitality managed by Dolce Hotels and Resorts. Since it is a city property, you can go and check out the historic aspect of the hotel. If you come, eat some lunch, it's not expensive and it is really good, and like I said the dining room is elegant. Have a look at my pictures and see what a nice place this is. Highly recommended.
I love the Hayes mansion property. So gorgeous. I love my room and my bed is so comfy. I have been disappointed in the check in process. It seems like the staff couldn't get it together. There was a line of at least 15-20 waiting to check in, we waited an hour and forty minutes for our room. The internet has been interesting meaning sometimes it works really well and sometimes the signal is really bad.
A hotel wth great potential. It's "tired" worn out and buckling carpet. Guest room furniture that is niked and scared and looks like it was bought from a budget hotel. Bed is worn out with indentations. Turn on show and the leak between shower head and wall sprays entire bathroom. Lack of service staff/management to service guest.
Held a meeting for over 50 people here and we had a great experience. The service was outstanding. Yes, it may be a bit dated but I will take history, character and charm over a big chain hotel any day. The food for our breaks was awesome, the restaurant not so much. Shout out to Esther, she is a superstar! - MS
Looks nice from the outside, staff is friendly. Inside is very dated. The heater in my room was broken, and had a bit of a gnat issue. Wouldn't recommend staying here.
The Dolce Hayes was surprisingly friendly, charming and pleasant and did an excellent job creating an amazing wedding experience. The food was excellent. The grounds are well-kept. The event was a little hard to find from the lobby, and it was a little hard to learn the layout but all in all a beautiful venue.
My All-Star team staying there during Regional Tournament. We had great service from the staff the rooms were nice and very clean. All of the players enjoyed their stay as well as the parents.
Stayed at the hotel for one night this time. Hotel provides filtered ionized water. Had the free breakfast. Made to order omelettes, fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal, and different pastries. Stayed in the ballroom building this time. Room was well kept. TV did not work. Connectivity was poor so the images were pixelated.
I have been using UBER from San Jose Airport outside San Jose. I think it is a building that has been used for a long time, but it is well managed. I think it's a place for families to spend a luxurious time. It's far from the center so there isn't a place to play in the nearby walking area, but the room is large so you can relax and work. I think it's a good place for work and vacation.
The resort as a package offers a lot. The room itself is not very attractive though. Food is pretty good, but pricey. It's a good venue for wedding, and the resort has three buildings which allow them capable to do multiple weddings on the same day.
