Located downtown, Hartford Stage has a ton of options for dinner before hand. You can park in the garage next door for only $6.50 on show nights - just be aware it'll take awhile to get out - may be best to go out for a drink after the show.

The theater itself is very nice. There's a coat check and a bar in the lobby. You're allowed to take your drinks and food into the show - just be respectful about it. The main theater is smaller than you might think from the website - not a bad seat in the house. The set design is usually amazing, too.

I've been to Hartford Stage for five shows now and it's always amazing. The venue is kept clean, especially the bathrooms. Your view of the stage is always good even if you're in the back rows. Location is easily accessed and parking is just next door. All of this says nothing about the plays themselves which are top notch. The actors are fantastic and really sell you on the play. But they're also backed up by surprisingly solid special effects where necessary. Just all around top notch production work every time I come here.

A nice small theater in downtown Hartford. The parking is next door and it's only 6 dollars if you go to a show. Walking distance to city steam brewery and a few other good places to eat. The theater reminds me of long wharf in size.

We saw, and were absolutely delighted by, the Sunday matinee of A Christmas Carol! From parking, to coat check, to being seated, to intermission, it was so easy. The show itself was amazing, exceeding everything we had heard about it. My only complaint is that it made two hours fly by leaving us wanting more!

Absolutely loved seeing Wicked and the Bodyguard shows at this beautiful stage. Seating is a little close together but that's because people are actually getting bigger! Nothing wrong with this beautiful venue, parking was easy, sound was great.

This little theater brings in amazing shows and talent. It is a fantastic gem. Most recently saw Perfect Nonsense, and the title perfectly describes the hilarity of the show. There isn't a bad seat in the theater. Many great shows (like this one!) Make their debut here. Go again and again.

I brought 75+ students to see Murder on the Orient Express and was so very pleased - and not for the first time. Whether for personal or professional events, the Hartford Stage provides the area with excellent performances, such a good fit for this venue. I can only imagine how thoughtful the people of HS are (like Robert who coordinates school visits) . The seating is great, there is a full snackbar, the bathrooms are clean and plentiful.

I can't comment on parking because I didn't need it, but Hartford always has something for visitors

Small, intimate theatre. Great space and location. Only qualm about the show we saw was that the curtains did not open fully for some scenes so we felt like we didn't get to see parts of the side action.

Great location right in the heart of Hartford just off of route 91 and 84. The theater is surrounded by a variety of food options and it's literally connected to a parking lot. The seats could be roomier but the quaint size of the place makes it bearable. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. I saw the "The Flamingo Kid" and the production was excellent. I highly recommend the experience.

Gastly. I think it is my Chekhov upbringing speaking. If you want an experiece called "theater" in Hartford, go to TheaterWorks. This place is a balagan, crude performance for utterly crude taste.

All tickets for people under 18 are $18. This is a crazy good deal, me and my lady saw Henry V for $144 cheaper than if we were in the same seats as adults and the dedication to creating a love of theater shown here is worth any ticket price. The play was also very nice though Shakespeare is often a lot to take in.

Very cute theater. Small and intimate. Any seat in the house is a good start: you feel close no matter where you are. Quality productions here. You will not be disappointed. We travelled up from Richmond to see Anastasia in preview directed by the artistic director of Hartford Theatre. We were not disappointed.

Can't go wrong with any production here. Garage parking available (prepay for the garage at the box office to exit the garage quicker. Alcohol and other beverages and snacks sold in lobby area before the show and at intermission. Staging, lighting and actors are all high quality! Get a flex pass for the season to pick and choose the shows you want to see.

A stage company is only as good as the plays it puts on. Under the direction of Darko Tresnjak it has been absolutely fabulous! Occasionally we have gone there expecting that we might not like it (we have season tickets) but are very pleasantly surprised.
On the practical aspects, the theater is very comfortable and convenient. I love the stadium style seating. No looking around other people's heads. The theater is very convenient to drive to, and the parking lot is also very convenient. For parking I recommend driving down a level. If you can navigate a flight of stairs, you can actually park much closer there. Also, Hartford Stage sells a prepaid parking ticket with the theater ticket, and it is very convenient to have the prepaid ticket when you are leaving.

If you see a performance here you'll be delighted. Sets, costumes, actors and everything in between comes alive in ways comprable (and some times surpassing) that of the Great White Way. The love of all things theater by the Darko is evident from the biggest spectacle to the smallest detail.

We went to see "A Christmas Carol" which was well-acted and well-produced. Seating is somewhat in a U-shape, and the whole stage is utilized, so there are not many bad seats. However, we sat on the left side and had a view of just the back of an actor or the back of his chair many times, so that was a bit disappointing. Harford Stage has a $6.50 event parking deal with the garage that is adjacent, which is better than the normal $10 rate.

I saw A Christmas Story on xmas eve 2019....it was fantastic--definitely one of the best performances I have ever seen. I would highly recommend. I hope to do this every xmas eve. The performance would get 5 stars. The seating in the theater , maybe 3 stars. Seats are the downside--they are hard, no cushioning at all..also, no leg room (and I am short, 5'3, so if I am saying no leg room, then it's definitely an issue)... gets pretty uncomfortable sitting through a show. Although the actual seats suck, I must say any seat you sit at, you will have a good view of the stage. Also, they only offer candy, mediocre cookies, and awful tasting soft pretzels for snacks. I get it has to be soft food, as to not make noise, but better quality would've been great.
