Great place seafood platters mains Paua. .... yum..yum..steak...fish & chips...service was great...views loved it of the harbour...we were out on the deck...
Had lunch here today. First time dining. Took my kids too. Totally awesome. The view of the harbour kept my kids entertained. The food was exceptionally YUMMY and our waitress Nicole was AWESOME!!! This place is totally worth visiting again. Steak, Chips, Oysters, Fish Pie, Sushi.....yum yum yum i will be returning!!! Thank you Harbourside - your team that was on today were awesome & had smiles for days!!!! #satisfiedcustomer
Came in after popcorn shrimp and calamari. Was highly impressed with them both.. We're from the bar menu but looked like 5 star dining. The cocktails were awesome and service the best I have had in Auckland for a very long time. Will definitely be back.
Hands down the best seafood I ve ever tasted. The seafood platter was absolutely beautiful. Staff were amazing especially Jackie. 10/10
Nice food. Great drinks. Good service friendly staff. Will be back.
The food was delicious cooked to perfection and our waiter was the best couldn't ask for better service... They made us feel welcome and enjoyable night...
Best seafood in town and even more amazing desserts.
A night out for our wedding anniversary. It was a cold windy night where we were seated iutside on the deck. Drafty. Waiter was nice after I said I was cold and offered a nice blanket to keep warm during our meal. However service was very slow. 30 minutes to deliver a glass of wine. 1 hour to get our starters. And another half later to get out mains. Can't fault the food as it was excellent but it was luke warm by the time it got to our table as we watched the waiters figure out table numbers and walked passed twice with our food. We were never told about any daily specials and watched a lovely snapper dish served to a table nearby. Overall food excellent. Service was distinctly average.
Great service and awesome setting!! Enjoyed view out over harbour
Although the food was nice, it was over priced as was the wine, and the service needs to be picked up (maybe the service staff were having an off-day) Not as good as it used to be. Nice location with lots of potential but not up to fine dining standards yesterday.
The staff were attentive, and the seafood was extremely fresh. The grilled calamari and scallops on the seafood platter were divine. But they overcooked the linguine in my seafood marinara. Frankly, I had high expectations from the reviews ... so I'd say Harbourside is good but not great.
Fantastic meal and service. Watch out for the fiery dry fish curry!
very rude and racist front desk hostess. spoke down dismissively as if we couldn't understand English when asked if we could sit by a window table. Many empty tables without reserved signs.
when the waiter came to take the order, we told him we'd like to cancel the booking - he didn't inquire or try to understand
Walked away. No food is worth racist, rude attitudes.
I had the game fish with some sides and it was great. The fish was Tuna as shown in the photos. While not cheap it was worth it. The sides are not shown.
Great location, friendly staff, good vies, food is awesome.
The selection of fish isn't huge. Disappointed that it was tuna and salmon as the main fish but when the tuna came out it was great. Four sides available which were a little boring for my taste.
Oh dear, one star is a bit generous but to give this rating and pass the forewarn foreword one must choose... So here we go...
Awful dosn't begin to describe the experience...
Crimes against seafood gets you closer to what went down....
A Harborside grill that effs up seafood so spectacularly should be unheard of in this day and age... But alas it is not. Oysters were poorly shucked, broken shells and slimy... raw bar 'sashimi' served over hot food and smelled fishy... I tasted one slimy piece but couldn't risk trying the rest.. Over cooked prawns cooked from frozen and chewy, Morton Bay bugs were tiny, 2nd rate and over cooked... Wine was tooooo sweet, no comments from wait staff when wine ordered about how sweet it was, no tasting notes on wine list... Overall we were in and out in less than 45 minutes and more that 200NZ lighter... Someone shut this place down and repurpos this spectacular building for somthing good.
Always great selection of sea food and NZ wine list
Very nice and elegant ambience. It's good for both a romantic dinner or a business dinner. Prawn starter was great. Market fish main (snapper on the day of our visit) was very ordinary.
Very well located, with a spectacular terrace, very good and original cuisine and attentive service.
the food here is amazing. Mixed sushi platter... OMG!
First time at this restaurant whilst the food was OK the 20% surcharge on a public holiday of $200 was exorbitant, I wouldn't go back. The restaurant had very few clients and if they charge this amount as a surcharge I can understand why. There is better value for money in the immediate vicinity.
We did not receive our main course for an hour and a half after arriving. The bartender had a backup of 18 drinks. There was a large party in another part of the restaurant and the main part of the restaurant was under staffed.
The crossing is unique on Quay Street in front of the Auckland Harborside, because it is guarded by officers, so that it doesn't ring if it's a red light. Means that here many like to stay, until there must be two officers on the left and right of the road
Excellent food and service. Great friendly service every time. Food is very tasty and of good quality, and staff is always helpful. Can be pricey, so don't come with pocket change, but also affordable if you want a great dinner or lunch, or just chill and watch the boats go in and out
Beautiful experience once again..food exquisite, top notch pinot gris from Kumeu River and the service was very good..still remains our favorite...
Come at least once a month. Have had great staff and meals but usually on Saturday. Today they tell me menu changed can t have what I normally like, but up til 4 weeks ago although not on menu the staff on Saturday would indulge me.... And I m not stupid the menu has NOT changed..... Then we are seated away from water front but two guys in suits walk in and suddenly they can sit at water front table.... We dressed casual cause we have been driving 2.5hrs to get here and get shoved at the back RUDE much Won t be back and we always leave a tip for the awesome staff that are on saturdays but definitely NOT today So got email from Harbourside, excuses and no apology for the disgusting profiling.... bring back Saturday staff.... Do not go there terrible profiling and service that comes with it
High food level and very friendly service was good. However, if you do not make a reservation, you may wait about 30 minutes or you may not get in.
Dined on mother s day. The food was yum but completely over priced for the tiny portions. The staff were incredibly obnoxious and pretentious. We were spoken to very rudely and it seems to be the culture of the business they seem to speak to each other rather disrespectfully as well. We spent our entire dining experience listening to one staff member tell off other staff members. I definitely would not really return. Ever!
This place is amazing. Extremely good hot drinks and an amazing view. To be honest this is my favourite kind of place.
We went for a birthday party of 6.We had a fantastic evening. The food was great and the service even better. We will return.
Such a nice dining experience, the food is excellent, sitting area on the balcony on a sunny day is superb and service is top notch too. Was there for Sunday lunch. Would come back no questions asked! FYI-would have given it a five star had the coffee being better.
One of the best meals you can have in Auckland CBD. Prepare to pay the price though. Balcony has amazing view.
Service staff were friendly, our waiter was very professional, and managed everything. Starters came out nice and quickly, but a but of a wait for the mains and dessert.no complaints with the food, the fresh Clevdon oysters and the lamb were excellent. Special thanks to the team at Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill for the birthday treat for one of our party.
The food presentation was excellent. The two dishes we order flounder and steak. The flounder was filitted by the waitress at the table excellent job. The steak could of been brought out after the fish had been filleted as would of been warmer .The wine very pleasant and the dessert excellent. Very satisfied
Well-prepared food and attentive service. Tables by the eindow have nice views over the ferry wharf. Not brilliant, but perfectly adequate.
As always food absolutely superb and service brilliant. Thank you.
Nice environment, friendly staff, great service, excellent food- especially the desert Chocolate Fondant - highly recommend this restaurant.
Reasonable food but the waiter was very unattentive, completely no service.
Very friendly and helpful staff, however the meal we were served was missing the mussels and took them some time to realize their mistake.
We decided to go there as we had a gift card and celebrated a late anniversary with a nice dinner.
Locationwise the restaurant is fantastic and has a lot of potential.
The starters were enjoyable and nice. Particularly the mushroom linguine, although it was spagetthi more so then linguine.
The main course we got a John Dory entire fish to share. Presentation was unpleasant. It looked as though someone used a sledgehammer to seperate the meat from the rest, creating a large gap. It is not the easiest fish to dish up looking pleasant as a whole but I wish I had taken a picture as it looked simply messy.
The meat itself was very nicely cooked and had a a simple but good taste, the capsicum spread alongside is a bit overpowering for my preference when served with fish.
We got surprised as we were deciding on what desert to get with a compliment of the house desert wishing us a happy anniversary. A very nice and attentive touch.
Service was slow yet servers were very nice (wait staff was attentive and tried their best, despite it being obvious they were understaffed, always polite and helpful). It was rather obvious though that there was not enough staff on which was surprising to me given the reputation this restaurant seems to have in Auckland.
All in all I expected more after hearing a lot about it being one of Aucklands best restaurants. It is a nice restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary aside for the location.
Visited twice in recent weeks. Excellent meal and service both times, really switched on team. Wine list extensive, with good choices. Top fish restaurant, with a great atmosphere.
Great seatfood~
Very Friendly waitress!
Comfortable seat and restaurant!
While on vacation in Auckland we dined at Harbourside. The cocktails were wonderful and the food was excellent. The fish was very fresh. One friend had sashimi and sushi, I had grilled tuna, and another had shrimp and scallops. Everyone commented on the quality of the food. We sat on the terrace and it was nice to see the ferry boats going in and out of the wharf. It is worth the cost to have such good food and a quality dining experience.
The staff is friendly and very helpful. There food was delicious!! I had the lamb it was so tender I could cut it with a spoon, and the macaroni and cheese with lobster was out of this world. The portions were good and the prices were definitely reasonable. The hand soap and lotion in the bathroom was great :)
The cuisine was delicious, but cooking comes out too late.
I waited long from the appetizer to the main but did not come out more than 30 minutes after ordering additional dessert. When complaining, I was told in high pressure that "It takes time to provide fresh things."
I was frustrating, I forgot the souvenir that I put at my feet.
Evaluation was good, so I went there, but the last dinner of the trip was ruined.
Lovely weather, dined out on the balcony. Fresh oysters and lovely wine selection.
If you like a good $ 200 with two people like sitting on plastic chairs then you may use it. We have been here for the last time. All dishes are almost atomized (in the core everything is extra). The quality of the food was nothing to complain about, but for the price you can expect, that appetizers are served together and not the soup about 10 minutes after the salmon comes. The ambience did not suit us. The cards seem to be in three variants. The superiors do not know the courts and can not make any meaningful recommendation. Everything a little bit poor. But most of all, the price-performance ratio annoys me.
Superb food and great service once again. Tuna cooked to perfection. Nice view too.
Me and Husband had lovely dinner here. The place was nice and relaxing to dine . And the foods is awesome!
Absolutely terrible service. Very unfriendly and racist staff. Especially the waitress named Nicole .
My mother asked her whether a certain dish comes with any sides or salads and she responded by yelling very loudly and saying N-O-T-H-I-N-G , nothing. I can t be any more clear as if we didn t understand English. I was shocked to see such rude treatment from a very well renowned restaurant in the centre of the CBD.
Obviously, we left immediately after this incident because no way am I going to be spending our money to support a racist business.
Would not recommend to any one. Save your money and go elsewhere folks. You ll have dodged a bullet for sure.
Vegetarian options were not too exciting but great ambience and delicious house baked focaccia!
To think id get judged looking like a thug but nope hospitality was boss ...ordered the platter an was fuking amazing price was so worth it ...ended up ditching the forks n chopsticks had to use my hands haha had to it was too fukn boss for a fork
The view was mint n everything on that seafood platter was just on point would recommend to anyone n id go back again people were jst lovely n shout out to the waiter that stop me from ordering more that platter was MASSIVE best place to eat in town...
From the man in blue chur chur
I totally agree with the last review. So disappointed as have dined here previously - small potions totally overpriced (4 pieces tortellini $42.95) - On the plus side the staff were helpful.
Walking down Queen St on a Thursday evening and looking for a a seafood experience, I called into Harbourside and was rewarded with a top quality meal and great service. NZ has much to offer in good fresh seafood yet it is often not presented to best effect. Not so at Harbourside tonight, where I had as good a fish meal as I have had in a long time.
Attended to the In the Pink at Harbourside event. Everything we had was delicious! The service was a little erratic, but since it was a big, unusual event, it s understandable. Everyone was very nice and any mistakes were promptly fixed. I definitely want to go back to experience the regular service.
Great food, awesome atmosphere. The wait staff were superb; very knowledgeable, and friendly. Great place to eat if you like seafood, and highly recommend coming here if you want great food, drink, and have a nice relaxing meal out
Stunning dinner! Attentive service, good cocktail list and amazing food. Wine list is massive and superb! A 'must go' in Auckland CBD.
UTTERLY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE HERE. NEVER AGAIN FOR LIFE. I MEAN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good meal, quality ingredients at the top, just like cooking, special mention for the nuts of Saint Jacques a real delight. Thank you for the attentions made by the restaurant for our honeymoon. A true delight !
This restaurant is in a fabulous location by the water and offers a wide and varied menu. An aspect that made the evening special for us was the service. The waitress was engaging and did small things to enhance the dining experience such as explaining the differences between the many Sauvignon Blanc on the wine list and providing a little more desert when sharing. Would recommend for a pleasant night out.
Good location. Didn't enjoy the prawn cocktail however
Nice view, friendly staff and pretty average food. Tuna was too salty and a bit overcooked. Prawns were nice but just peeled and served with seafood sauce. Nothing really special, everything is really mediocre and pricy.
Fantastic restaurant, great view and atmosphere. Food is superb. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the decor is warm and inviting. Great place to sit and show off Auckland Harbour and NZ cuisine.
Good restaurant with fresh seafood. Good with groups!
Nice food, had a 60th celebration and the team were amazing.
The food is good, mainly because the fish is good, the interior is more distinctive, the style is old
