Happy Bean Coffee Review

Quaint and pleasant in on Main St in downtown Mount Vernon about two blocks south of the Square, located between Paragraphs Bookstore and the MVNU Art Gallery. Lots of owner-made tables from re-purposed wood with lots of space to spread out, several places along the wall and counter to plug in. Metal chairs are okay. There's also a little reading around with more comfortable chairs, could use maybe a two-seat couch to go with the small bookshelf--not sure if it's leave-one-take-one, though. The coffee is excellent, locally sourced and possible to sample the best roasters in Columbus. Sometimes, there will be a poetry club or open mic. The only problem is limited later evening hours, but this is true for all of Mt Vernon. Full disclosure: my son is a barista here.

This is a great place filled with people relaxing and visiting while enjoying a great cup of coffee!

Looking for a place to study and to get a good cup of coffee in town. Most of their coffee is pourover.

Wonderful coffee! My husband and I go here every time we are in town. Their coffee is nicely roasted and the flavors aren't surgery. Highly recommend!

Good coffee, many hot and cold drink options, tasty pastry offerings, pleasant servers. I attended a poetry reading in a room just off the main coffee room and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Young people at the tables were quiet and respectful of the poets and listeners in the next room. Nice place to grab a coffee to go or sit and have some coffee and a pastry.

Customer service is decent, didn't get the drinks right. Coffee was not good. I'm lactose intolerant asked for Almond milk fairly certain they still gave me regular milk due to the stomach pain that occurred shortly after being there.

Consistently good coffee and tea drinks. A few pastries. Clean with pleasant staff.

Love their Chai tea latte and the cinnamon rolls. The service is great and people are kind. Great space for working as well!

Excellent quality coffee. Great service too. The girl working knew what she was doing. Prices were reasonable and drinks were great. Will go back next time we are in the area.

Good coffee. The food options are extremely limited; when I was there last month there were only donuts available. This is a place that is still getting its feet on the ground, but it has great potential.

Nice staff. We got Americanoes (proper pluralization?) and my favorite, an apple fritter! The fritter was paler than I've usually seen them, which makes me wonder what makes darker fritters dark. Very apple-y and sweet. Perfect.

Wandering central Ohio on a lovely Friday afternoon. Stopped here for a coffee and got a spinach and cheese biscuit.

Went there two different times. First time my chai tea was excellent. Second time it was alright.

Love their mocha as well as the honey lavender latte. A nice quiet, sunny place to meet someone. Great location near the square.

I love this cafe!! There is so much to try and enjoy here, everyone will find something they love. My personal favorite right now is the iced chai. Their baked treats are delicious as well!

Small, quiet coffee shop with a contemporary yet slightly rustic feel! Menu is somewhat limited (limited of pastries and beverages), but they seem to be growing their selection all the time.

Great Chai, friendly staff, and you can sit and talk forever. They didn't even mind the time we moved some tables together for a meeting and one of the cashier's let me borrow a pen when I forgot mine! They have some comfy chairs in one corner too, though they're often taken.

Wonderful, peaceful environment to have some delicious coffee and hang out. The baristas are always friendly and helpful. Whenever I'm in Mount Vernon I always try to stop in to have some coffee and relax

I don't live in Mount Vernon but I work there often and when I do I always stop in and get a great cup of coffee I sure do miss the seven-layer cookies though

Very good coffee. The space is very public and would benefit from the creation of some sound dampening (I have on multiple occasions seen a private comment receive a public response).

This is my main goto coffee shop. Quite often office here for a bit in the morning. Wonderful people run the shop. Great wifi. Very pleasant atmosphere in downtown Mt Vernon.

Had a coffee and pastry today on my lunch break. Great staff and the coffee was fresh and really good. Love that you are all here in MTV. .

The customer service was exceptional and the coffee was great. My only problem was that I could not take my eyes off of the dirty light fixtures. It bothered me and I was concerned that the dust from the lights would fall into my drink. Until this is fixed, I will be going to Wiggins.

Have been to this coffee shop a few times now, but just recently hung around for a bit for the first time since COVID. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff behind the counter, and of course, excellent coffee. Other treats look mighty tasty too - will definitely have to try those soon!

What a great spot downtown. This is the perfect spot to come study, read or write a book and enjoy delish coffee and pastries.

The coffee does have a good taste that can make you a better day , In addition the consistence is like a muddy water .

Great coffee in a vibrant but calm atmosphere. Menu is tight but efficient, and the wonderful staff are knowledgable and helpful.

Great coffee, and some amazing iced teas. Not impressed by the majority of the baked goods, especially after I saw them taking them out of Kroger packages and repackaging them with a huge up charge!! Homemade Pop tarts are ok.

UPDATE: forgot to mention I like how they put nice encouraging sayings on the to go cups, see picture.
