Comfortable beds and friendly staff

Unfortunately there was lots of noise in the rooms.
Confusing layout not helped by poor (outdated) signage

An excellent course with many interesting holes. Well kept tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens. Practice facilities are great. Food and service at the restaurant is something you should not miss. Prepare to walk and course is hilly.

I had afternoon tes on saturday 4th June.
I booked earlier that week stating i did not have butter in my sandwiches so that they could be prepared. On arrival i was told i had to wait for the sandwiches to be made. when they arrived it was one sandwich cut into four fingers, all in white bread they advertise there are all kinds of breads.

This place is gorgeous. The views are amazing. The breakfast great. There's only one thing missing and that is the attention to detail when it comes to the service. My friend ordered a tea and the waitress brought coffee. Ok, no problem. She took the coffee away and the cup, brought the tea back and no cup. I was having my tea and my friend just watching me... until I got another cup for her. It's the small details what can transform the experience

Beautiful setting but needs updating in lots of areas - no Aircon or even a ceiling fan - bathrooms are very tired - corridor carpets are traffic worn and dirty - doors and walls badly scuffed throughout - sound attenuation between rooms More

This is my favorite Marriott. Wonderful grounds and fantastic breakfast buffet. I ve been there on business during several seasons, but December is a beautiful time as the hotel is lit up, fireplaces glowing and a warm cozy experience awaits.

Good value for such a historic location

We ordered breakfast and they put our order on the wrong table. Left it there for 2 minutes came back realised there s was mistake and instead of getting us fresh food they took it off the table and brought it to us. Due to Covid it s not very smart of them to do that. The food was cold as well. The hotel is really nice but that is so not nice and we didn t even an Apology

I was very disappointed with the so called Hanbury Manor hotel, part u TV of the Marriot chain of hotels.
The room was old and musty and the bathroom needs updating. The Oaks grill restaurant was very over priced fir the standard of food.
The breakfast was cold and a big let down.
I would've stay here again and will be telling everyone I know of my disappointing stay at Hanbury Manor

Stayed for a golf weekend. Course was fantastic. Spa facilities were good, small size pool with Jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. Rooms were adequate size with twin 3/4 beds. No aircon in rooms so can get stuffy. Food in restaurant was excellent More

Me and my husband had a free night stay here due to some error that occurred with my husbands point transfer for our honeymoon and this place was perfect location from our home, not too long in the car for our 7month old baby.
The place is gorgeous. Their bed is amazing, we could all 3 lie in the bed comfortably and have a good night's sleep.
Ste staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Very accommodating chefs for making vegetables for our blw baby and dessert to take to our room :)
Their pool is lovely too.

We have been here a couple of times and have never had an issue however this time was slightly different.

Totally understand the COVID-19 rules need to be followed however nothing was open, unable to sit anywhere or get a drink/food unless planned with hours to spare. Had to book the pool which is totally understandable however we were not informed you had to use your room towels throughout your entire stay even after having to use them in the pool.

Terrace bar upstairs was lovely however usually open until 12, upon arrival the lady behind the bar told us she was happy because she got to leave at 10 due to covid, not a problem however she literally locked the doors and turned the lights off without telling the 10-15 people still outside on the terrace she was closing or where to exit and there was absolutely no signage directing us to any exit or toilets ( which 90% are locked off, had to use golf changing rooms toilets).

The hotel is wonderful however golfers and golf tournaments take major priority over hotel guests and you almost left guessing about where you can go or do with the new restrictions however the golfers are able to do whatever they wish.

The food menu although understandably limited was very spass and was just glorified kids menu very overpriced for the food being offered.

The room was nice and clean however the bathroom was not, there were actually handprints left in the shower upon arrival so had not been cleaned thoroughly.

Love the hotel however quite disappointed this time and wouldn t recommend going until the restrictions are lifted a little more.

I've been here on several occasions, for afternoon tea, use of spa and staying at the hotel itself.

The spa area is small, there's one hot tub, one sauna and a pool. I was underwhelmed on my first visit in 2016 as the pool area wasn't particularly tidy but this has vastly improved. The treatments get booked quickly so make sure you book in advance.

The afternoon tea is good for the price. They refill ok sandwiches if you ask (the coronation chicken is particularly delicious). I was with a friend who had dietary requirements (halal) and the waiter didn't understand what this was. We eventually asked him to ask the kitchen directly. However, he was really attentive and ensure we were ok throughout the tea. I would recommend the afternoon tea if you are here staying or using the spa.

The grounds of the hotel are stunning, there are tennis courts, a golf course and a couple of restaurants on site.

For staying at the hotel, in room food is overpriced (as per all hotels), their night tome menu only goes up till midnight and is very very limited. We ordered a Greek pasta salad and it was very bland and actually didn't have much salad in. The staff are a huge asset and very accommodating, the rooms are spotless, roomy and the beds comfortable.

Location is very nice. Beautiful golf greens. Ideal for weddings. Dog friendly.

Staff are very friendly.

Rooms are clean and spacious (depending what you booked). Good amenities like fridge, bathrobe, slippers and mouthwash!

Didn't eat here so can't comment on food. Had a cocktails at outside bar. Nothing special and not cheap. Parking can be far from the actual hotel.

We chose to stay at the Marriott Hanbury Manor, Wa...

We chose to stay at the Marriott Hanbury Manor, Ware UK on 22nd September and to host a family dinner celebrating my 50th birthday. We booked a family room and also dinner for 10 people in the Iron Grill at 7.30pm. This was our fourth stay at the hotel. Unfortunately our stay this year was completely lacking on the 5* level of service that we have come to expect from this hotel.
On Saturday 22nd we went to the Oak Room for afternoon tea and were put on a table for 4 near the door which was a) cold and b) smelled of cigarette smoke from the smokers standing in the doorway. We asked for a different table and were told that all were taken - until we pointed out a free table. We were moved there but told we could only have it for 90 minutes (which was adequate for us). The staff were unfriendly but the tea was good.

Our dinner was booked for 7.30pm 22nd September and we arrived at the Iron Grill restaurant at 7.20pm. As our guests were waiting in the bar we told the staff that we would go and meet our guests then return to our table in 15 minutes. The restaurant staff were not accommodating and told us that we would need to hurry up to sit down at 7.30pm as they wanted the table back. Our dinner was pleasant and the food was good but the service was noticeably poorer than last year.

On 23rd September we went for breakfast and it was extremely busy in the restaurant. We ordered poached eggs and waited for 30 minutes and they simply never turned up! The staff were too busy to interrupt. There were only limited options for vegetarians and the breakfast was average.

On checking out my husband did not want to make a fuss in front of me (as it was my 50th birthday) and also the reception staff were very busy and disinterested.

Overall the service that we received was not 5* and compared to our previous stays inclines us not to want to visit again.

Bar for drinks was nice - Tudor style hall with nice waitresses. Restaurant was a long walk from the bar, along bedroom corridors. Rather limited menu, first choice of wine not in stock, staff seemed a bit disengaged. Food was rather ordinary compared to our expectations. We still had a really nice evening there with friends.

The main hotel is a lovely old building, but the rooms and common areas are quite dated. We stayed in a suite in the oldest part of the building and it was well sized, but the decor was quite dated with old plumbing and technology.
The food was very poor - a simple menu, cooked badly.
The Spa with pool, steam rooms and sauna was more modern, and the invigorating massage was fantastic.
The grounds are well kept, and the golf course looked in reasonable nick for winter.
The staff were exceptional - friendly and welcoming.
I'd recommend for a trip to the Spa, but definitely eat elsewhere.

Lovely location and venue. The reception was well attended and pleasant. The rooms were of a good standard, accessed by stairs or lift. Quite location and not disturbed by other guests. Car parks are a short walk and generally speaking thats fine however, it rained heavily and getting to and from the car with bags was a dampening experience!

We have been coming here now for over 10 years, and it remains a nice country escape. Staff are always friendly and helpful, although it was very clear this weekend they were short on staff in comparison to the amount of guests. Both the lounge in the evening suffered terrible service, and our room service breakfast was over 45 mins late. In both cases though the staff were very apologetic, just clearly not enough of them. That aside, was a lovely stay, nice spa and will remain our country escape!

The afternoon tea I had at Hanbury Manor was by far the best afternoon tea I've ever had. The staff were friendly and attentive. They were pleased to accomodate our requests. We ordered thr vegetarian option but as I also eat fish they were happy to additionally provide us with the salmon open sandwhich avaliable on the standard menu. There was a huge selection of teas and every peice of food was delicious. Tea refills are unlimited amd they also offered us additional sandwiches. However for two people there is already so much food. We stayed there for over 2 hours and did not feel rushed at all by the staff. It was a brilliant experience. Plus the grounds make for a great walk before or after.

Nice hotel mansion place thing. It has a small gym, swimming pool, and there's beautiful green environment around. I stayed here for a work off-site meeting so I can't comment on the price, but I imagine it's fairly steep. I felt a bit out of place with my bicycle, muddy shoes and goapants, but the staff is very welcoming and professional.

Very disappointed. It as sad to see this grand old lady of a hotel has been left to dwindle to a mere shadow of its past days of grandeur. My rib eye steak in the Flat Iron Grill was of poor quality. The chips were tasteless and of the cheap frozen variety. My friends meal was sent back as it arrived warm not hot. We used the golfers bar for a late drink as it is the only bar open to residents after 10.30, not ideal as many of the golfers had been drinking for some hours and were quite loud - which is understandable in 'their bar' but I would have expected an alternative bar for residents. Display cabinets are tired looking and extremely dusty throughout the corridors. I used this hotel for my daughters wedding 2 years ago but It has gone downhill considerably since then. I will nit be using it again.
