The staff were rude after I left my brand new swimming costume on the towel rail in the bathroom of the room I was staying in, they said it wasn't found. I know it was left here so I am irritated that they don't care and don't take responsibility, when clearly their staff have either thrown it or taken it. Won't stay here again as a result of such poor service. They didn't call back when they said they would, and wouldn't provide details for me to escalate it further until I'd called them over 5 times within a couple of weeks when they finally provided an email address. Not one call back even to apologise, useless.

Just been to time for two spa day with lunch and massage. Excellent massage and 2 course lunch very good. However, the spa setting lacks calm as beds are situated around the pool which on the day was used by children and was rather noisy.

Have just stayed for my partners 30th and overall had a nice weekend. Hotel is beautiful and the grounds and golf course are stunning. Top floor rooms are way to hot, my partner is pregnant and a small fan was provided but we still had to move rooms. Reception were brilliant and moved us to a ground floor room which was much better. Breakfast was very disappointing as the facility's were cramped and food runs out at the buffet way to quick. Apart from that a lovely stay, great staff very friendly and the spa was amazing. Had a treatment with the misses and it was 5*. I wouldn't say this place is 5star quality as a lot needs updating in the rooms, I've stayed in 3star hotels with better rooms for the money but in general we came away very relaxed. Would recommend the grill restaurant for dinner it was amazing. We booked afternoon tea and it was very nice, staff were attentive and kept the food and tea coming which was delicious. For the money I spent it was lovely but the rooms and bathrooms let this place down a bit.

Lovely grand hotel in a beautiful setting. Currently being let down by abject breakfasts. Some of the worse I've ever tasted in fact. Due to Covid there is no buffet available, so there's waiter service. Big problem is that there's only a two minute gap berween the cereal's arrival and lukewarm main cooked section.

The cooked food had clearly been sitting there for a while. Bacon and sausages were tough.

Big shame. I fear I'll not return.

Terribly dated place. Rooms perhaps 2 stars, dirty bathroom. Staff service poor. Restaurant brought mains out while still eating starters.
Swimming pool - below average, dirty, loungers mouldy.
Avoid!!!!

A beautiful location for afternoon tea. The service was impeccable and food excellent: more tea and sandwiches offered. It was fairly obvious we wouldn't be able to eat everything, so neat boxes were available to bring cakes home: a yummy treat for later in the day.

Beautiful hotel. It's absolutely insane and has infinite grounds to wander on. A friend was getting married at the golf club about 20 mins away so we were staying here. Stayed in the bridal suite the first night which was lovely which so much room for 6+ to get ready in. Second night had a double room which was very spacious too. You get free access to the spa facilities if you are a guest so we made use of the steam room and sauna day before wedding which was the perfect thing to get our skin into the best shape. Breakfast and dinner room service wasn't bad. Eggs were a little cold but aside from that not bad. We also sat in the lounge before departing and had some of the tea which was amazing. Overall had a lovely time here. Would love to come back to wander the grounds more which we didn't get an opportunity to do. Sorry don't have more photos! Wasn't much time to get the camera out.

Lovely place.

Lovely place.
The staff were great their level of care and attention was wonderful .
The building has a lot of character and is beautiful as well as the grounds.
The spa was very relaxing with a good size pool.
Restaurant meal was very nice, however the menu wasnt very inspiring and was a little bit pricey. However that being said i would 100% go back, i would 100% recommend anyone to stay here.

A beautiful hotel, country club, golf course, spa, restaurant. Stunning building, beautiful surroundings and classy and comfortable interiors. The staff couldn't be nicer. Great place for a posh party, wedding, golf stay or spa experience.

Stayed for one night for a friend's birthday. The spa was great, staff were very friendly and the food portions from the restaurant were generous and of great value. Only criticism was that the parking near the Garden Court was quite tight!

The hotel is very nice, but it seems to me that the manager has it quite neglected. For being a 5-star it has quite a few shortcomings, the price of the restaurant food seems exorbitant for the quality of the food. The rooms need a lot of updating. The employees are very nice and you can tell that they are exploited because you can see them working 24 hours with a tired face. The pool and the Spa is good, although also quite expensive for the services it offers.
The hotel itself is not bad, but if you think it is a Marriott the 2 stars are more than enough.

Visited Garden Court recently, no air conditioning in the conservatory which considering the outside temperature was creating a very hot atmosphere inside. Lovely venue and setting, worth checking beforehand if your room is going to be near a wedding reception just in case you are noise sensitive.

Very nice location, great food. The Two main problems were: 1) No double glazed windows or heating in the room meant you had no control over the temp on a rather cold night. 2) The staff didn't seem to understand the systems as I was constantly given the wrong information about my booking and it wasn't my name on the TV in the room I was given.

For my trip visiting my boyfriend and his family that live in Bishop's Stortford, this was the perfect location. The room was a bit small, but very unique and offered a one-of-a-kind view of the golf course and grounds. The staff was very friendly and ALL of the facilities were very clean and had a whimsical old-world feel about them. Would definitely stay there again and will be recommending this hotel to others for their stays!

Nice hotel but no air conditioning. They give you a small fan and the windows open about 2inches so it doesn't do much. I'm sure it's fine when it's not hot and humid but it wasn't very comfortable during this heatwave.

Really great spa day and lunch. A few little tweaks would have made this better but all in all really good.

Positives:
- There is so much to do at this venue, swimming, sauna, steam, jacuzzi
- The body scrub and massage were fantastic
- The steam room smelt like eucalyptus which was brilliant.

Some notes on improvements:
- the fish at lunch was very very oily and went soggy quite quickly
- the sorbet was whiskey flavoured which was odd and should've been mentioned on the menu and most of the fruit tasted quite old.
- my manicurist was 15 mins late to start which wasnt a problem but she didnt acknowledge it which was weird. She ended up being really lovely but think it was worth a mention.
- there were no magazines to read, only newspapers

The hotel was clean and setting was fantastic. But sadly the staff of the place let it down. My wife had a facial and I had a massage. The staff ask you to fill out a pre treatment questionnaire before you start. They ask you do you want a soft, medium or firm massage and I went for firm. I then stated to the lady I would like a strong massage because I am stiff particularly my legs and she said no problem. The massage was terrible it was like she didn t want to be there. It was soft and very disappointing. We also went for lunch in the main hotel and the food took 50mins to come out and both our hot drinks we ordered were cold. For the amount of money we spent it was definitely not up to our expectations.

Hi,

Hi,
I hope we will have the best rooms and services as I'm a bit worried about the reviews I have just read. We are a group of 13 ladies coming for a spa weekend this Friday the 5th July. I'm so looking forward to enjoying to the full without any disappointed!. Keeping my fingers crossed that the AC are working too.

Rooms are a quite large, but currently (2018) don't have air conditioning. Breakfast was good, with a decent selection on offer. Service was a bit slow when ordering drinks, and occasionally orders were forgotten.

Fantastic for the main building's architecture and internals. A big hotel idea for functions.

Be warned part of the hotel rooms 600+ are in another building which is a good 500yd walk through the grounds. Had to drag my bag through the cold and rain through pitch blackness trying to find the complex my room was located in.

These rooms remind me of a very dated 3 star standard room which looks like they are still finishing the building. With piles of bricks and building materials lying around.

Apparently there is a buggy you can hitch a lift on. But wasnt offered when i checked in.

Lovely Manor house and location, a pleasure to be in. Food at the iron grill is great and staff in the restaurant are very attentive. A few areas for improvement to make it perfect would be to review the check-in process as waiting quite a while to check-in. Having some more hostesses would be good for greeting you while you wait so you are acknowledged. Understandably old rooms cannot have aircon but maybe putting in some air coolers would make it a little more comfortable. And bathrooms could use a detailed clean... Inhabitant spiders indicate not cleaned often. However despite these... Its a wonderful place and will go again and again

I photographed a wedding at Hanbury Manor in September 2018.
Stunning venue and grounds. Huge amounts of space and grounds. Many interesting places for shots. The building itself has lots of character. The staff here are very helpful. A perfect wedding venue. Vanessa White (Emotive Photography)
