We were there as guests for a wedding. The service we received by the waiting and bar staff was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble. The receptionist on this occasion (friday 12th august) however was a different story! When informed that one of the guests cars had their lights on in the car park, the response was less than helpful, commenting that it "must be one of you lot" and that there was "little she could do about it". Not the response I expected from someone working at such a lovely place not least after the brilliant service from everyone else. She was the only blot in an otherwise fantastic visit and unfortunately one that sticks in the memory.

Hambleton Hall is so beautiful! We went to have lunch, the food was really good, staff was friendly and the property is breathtaking. It is better to make a reservation for the restaurant.

Hambleton Hall is the ideal place to visit for a special occasion. My husband treated me to Sunday lunch, to celebrate my birthday.
The Hall is in a beautiful location, overlooking Rutland Water, which can be seen from both the comfortable drawing room, and the dining room. On arrival, we were shown to the drawing room which had a stunning open fire, lit for us to enjoy whilst we had pre lunch drinks.
Later, having been escorted to our table in the dining room, we had the most delicious lunch. I enjoyed every single morsel of it.

However, I'm not sure I would return, for two reasons.
Firstly, the drinks menu. Although wonderfully extensive, it was extortionately overpriced. Added to which, there is what I consider to be a very unreasonable 12.5 % surcharge to what is an already expensive experience.

Whilst I love fine dining, and enjoyed my treat, I felt that this spoiled the occasion somewhat.

Fantastic views and lovely food. I would recommend coming here for lunch if you're not staying over. If the weather is nice, they open up the garden area so you get the chance to walk around.

The food was cooked perfectly and the dishes were presented well. The staff were friendly and the sommelier made good recommendations for wine to accompany our meal.

I have frequented Hambleton Hall on many occasions, both as a guest and through my work. I never cease to be impressed by the attention to detail, the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the food and service on offer. In my opinion there is nowhere like it in the East Midlands.

We didn't stay overnight-just visiting last Sunday for a lunch with friends. We were excited about returning as it was many years since our last visit. Before we had moved away from the area,we had enjoyed a number of family functions there and had always had a wonderful time.

Oh what a disappointment this time. The years have not been kind. The hotel looked the same but now the food is mediocre, and the service lacklustre. And to top it all I went to reception to ask a question-and the receptionist managed to avoid my eye long enough to finish one call and make another one to thank someone for a lovely evening!

If only we had chosen to go somewhere else -and left our precious memories untarnished.

We held our wedding reception at this beautiful hotel, with its magnificent gardens and views over Rutland Water and it was a truly marvellous and memorable occasion. The food and wine were superb and the staff efficient and polite. a perfect day culminated in a perfect night spent here.

Very disappointing, very dated furnishings, seated in a side room with only the four walls to look at,absolutely no atmosphere, pleasant young waiters/ waitresses but not enough years to gain knowledge of what they are serving you even if you can understand their poor english- speaking with a heavy French or Spanish accent does not equate to the level expected when paying the prices levied.Maybe I need another million in my bank account to justify going again .

The jewel in the local food scene, Hambleton Hall,...

The jewel in the local food scene, Hambleton Hall, sat proudly atop the Hambleton peninsula, with it's stunning vantage over Rutland Water, has held a Michelin Star since 1982- with 24 of those years owed to the faultless cookery of Head Chef, Aaron Patterson. Stylish and sophisticated, a visit to the Hall is an experience you won't forget- every aspect of a guest's visit has been tirelessly thought through by owner, Tim Hart and his team; Tim even had his sous chef, master baker Julian Carter, set up a bakery in 2008 to supply the Hall with freshly baked goods- Julian and the bakery have since gone on to win numerous awards, including 'Britain's Best Bakery'. A definite for food lovers.

Stayed two nights for my birthday as a gift from my partner. It was brilliant!

From the first moment the service is outstandingly. As we checked in put luggage was taken directly to our room.

The room on the first floor had great views of Rutland Water, so good gardens. Room plenty big enough as you 're d to go out to work up and appetite so that you can enjoy the food! Only one negative is that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Staff are friendly efficient and most of the time unobtrusive.

The food, one of the map reasons for this visit is simply outstanding, we has the tasting menu on dy one and a la carte which is also very good.

The barman, Paul is great fun and very knowledgeable

First class stay , great food and service of the highest standards can't wait to return

This first rate hotel/restaurant is an experience not to be missed. Went to lunch for my 75th birthday. Couldn't fault it. You will need deep pockets particularly if you have drinks and wine etc.

Great

Was a special treat for my partner's 30th birthday, and Hambleton Hall and the team really did their bit to make it special! Food is excellent (as you'd expect from their Michelin star rating), but the service was simply something else. The staff really went the extra mile to make you feel valued. In summary, expensive, but so very worth it!

Wonderful environment for a wonderful meal. Drinks on the terrace followed by exquisite food. Great service - efficient without being over bearing: in the background but acutely aware of what might be needed. Highly recommended.
