Beautiful view, neat place, friendly and fast staff. The restaurant has a pretty outside area and also comfortable warm indoors. The food overall is okay, I would recommend the creamy soup and bottomless mimosas. The steak is not tasteful as expected.

Always a great place to go. Excellent food and service. Made from scratch Hummus was a perfect appetizer. The fire was warm and cozy with and talented piano player and singer in the background.

We were so hopeful. We expected better from this microbrewery.

Here's the sadness list:
- Not greeted by the seating staffer out front; we had to pull her out of her daydreaming by asking for help twice.
- Mavericks Ale was totally flat and disappointing.
- Mavericks Burger looked promising but incurred condiment fees for every-freaking-thing on it except the bun.
- Staff took forever to take our order, serve our food, and give us the (pricey) bill so we could get out of there.

However - the outdoor fireplace (though totally packed) looked like a good place to chat and relax with a beer (just not the Mavericks Ale).

As ever, nice location, great beer, adequate fish, and bad batter.

I couldn't find the Kobe burger on the menu today which was a shame.

Still calf-eine is one of the best stouts in the extended Bay Area.

I usually really like the food and drinks here but our experience this weekend wasn't that great. We waited for first available table but were seated outside on the patio with no heater working and it was just too cold to be comfortable...only to find out we had to get back on the wait list for inside which was another 45 mins. Not good. We finally got seated inside where it was not full and wondered why such a long wait. Food was good but service lacking this time. This on a Saturday night that should have been a better experience.

Large place with multiple rooms, indoor and outdoor seating and multiple bathrooms. Good food selection anchoring on seafood and some classics like a burger. As a brewery they have a good beer selection and a full bar. Kid and large group friendly. I do suggest reservations but it has to be more than 3hrs in advance.

We know what we were in for: moderately priced food and drinks, a view of the ocean and live music, and that s exactly what we got. I m not a fan of seafood, but I liked a bit of calamari that I tasted. The amber ale was awesome, and so was the service prompt and courteous. They have multiple restrooms, so even during rush you wouldn t have to wait long.

It s definitely a place I d consider when I visit Half Moon Bay again.

Really popular (crowded) place, but I found a seat at the bar. I tried their Caffeine Milk Stout (which was very good) and ordered the weekend brunch Steak & Eggs.My steak was cooked perfectly! It's a very friendly atmosphere with excellent service.

After a nice day at Half Moon Bay Beach, it was time for a meal. We found the brewery out by Pillar Point Harbor to be perfect for everyone's needs. Parking was a little dicey in the small lot. The seating process was quick with the outdoor seating available. The bar was a bit chaotic when I tried to grab a drink while we waited for our table. The saison they had was great and my wife had a pilsner. The fish and chips was crispy and delicious as was the burger we had. Great view, great service, and a nice way to bring the day trip to a close.

Went here for my birthday.. the food is AMAZING such good flavors I could die lol. Service was great, atmosphere was comfortable and laid back but very nice and fancy at the same time. This is a new favorite that I ll be stopping at whenever I come to half moon.

Beautiful location, terrible food. I've been waiting to go here and just did a few days ago and it wasn't worth it. Also, they're big on IPA beer, so if you're an IPA fan, great, but if not better look elsewhere. There are at least five other restaurants within 300 feet and all of them have better food. I had the crab roll which was very bland, lacking flavor and my wife had a combo platter with fish, prawns and calamari. Most of her dish was left behind. The batter they use for trying the fish, prawns and calamari was pretty bad. For the first time in the 8 and 1/2 years I've seen my wife leave seafood on her plate and I couldn't help her cause I didn't like it either

I really don't understand the bad reviews. I've been coming here for years, great service, super friendly crew. Great beer and yes the menu is hit and miss. You need to know what you're getting. The crispy fish tacos, Seafood sampler, and fish & chips and fried atichok are amazing! Stop complaining and enjoy the view :-)

Nice views, packed when we went yet somehow didn't feel crowded or loud. NE clam chowder is amazing (and this is coming from a northeast-bred girl). Also, crab nachos. Do it. You won't regret it.

Good food. Good beer. Accommodating to dogs and babies. I'm always looking for family friendly places and this place is even dog friendly on their patio! Though it is generally foggy in Half Moon Bay, the location along the water is great.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company
Hot Day + Beautiful View + a Cold Brew = That's Amore!

This place has kind of a funky nautical charm. we were lucky enough to score a table outside with a view of the bay. Even with the umbrellas on the deck. it was quite warm so, the ice cold beer (The Bat Flip XXXIPA IPA) was very welcome when it arrived.

The staff was friendly and accommodating and the place was very busy. Most of the food is pretty basic, so we wound up order hamburger & a sandwich. I ordered the Brew Burger, 1/3 lb Angus Beef, with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle & a ample sesame bun @ $16.50. My wife ordered the
Veggie Sandwich, with Portabella mushroom, avocado, caramelized onions, mixed greens, hummus, Mozzarella; on that same sesame bun @ $15.00.

You can't beat the location and the great views of the bay. The beer is very good as well.

I came here with my fiance for a light dinner after our day in half moon bay.

The ambiance of the restaurant is on point, it is a nice place to sit back and relax. They also have a bar area with live music, and outdoor seating with firepits, but we didn't sit in those areas.
From the get go our server was very friendly and lightning fast. We weren't super hungry so we just ordered a soda, a salad, and a piece of cheesecake.
The cheesecake was delicious, moist, and seemed very fresh. It also was a fair price for the quality, 8$.
The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the salad we ordered. The salad was fine, but my fiance paid something like 23$ for a "seasonal salad" with chicken, but it was just a fairly basic salad with greens and beets. 23$ for a salad is grossly overpriced. We wouldn't have ordered this salad had we known the price, but it was not priced on the menu.

Will definitely come back to this restaurant next time in town and order a full dinner.

I took my 95-year-old grandmother here because she used to come to Half Moon Bay with my grandfather and the restaurant was recommended to us by family. Food was decent, and we enjoyed our minestrone soup and fried artichoke hearts. Service, however, was not good. Our waitress took a long time to bring us water, then another long delay to get our order, and didn't refill my water until I asked - despite seeing me coughing and attempting to drink from my empty glass. Eventually I had to go to the front and ask for my check because she was nowhere to be found after we finished our food and waited.

In short, my grandmother (who takes 5 minutes to put on socks and shoes) commented on how slow the service was.

Service was borderline adequate and the food followed. The server tried to remember the order we place and got it all wrong. It all came out at once, unlike other diners where appetizers came first and entrees followed. I watched the skinhead waiter treat every group of color the same.

Stay away.

On the plus side, it's great for groups. it's a great location, easy to find it. Their seasonal low-batch brews are better than the standard selection of creatively "area-named" beers (like Mavericks Ale for example).

Beer, beer beer. They call themselves Half Moon Bay Brewing Company and I expect the brews to be the feature of the place, but really, it's the fishtank, the view, the music, the ample parking for said car club or bike club, the outdoor seating, the bar (if not overly crowded) and atmosphere that makes it worthwhile.

Food is okay. Beers, well they try a bit too hard to make a decent average beer and as Griz from SF Brewcraft would have said, you can taste that sort of anal-retentiveness in the brew.

Ok, to be fair they aren't especially bad, but they all follow a similar recipe and process, so aren't especially daringly flavorful or OMG tasty either, what I mean is, okay they are drinkable but they aren't winning any gold medals in my book, and I guess that's not the point. I do like that the beers aren't overly carbonated, which helps to the idea of downing them quickly without having to stifle an onslaught of burpage. These are full bodied ales, not light beer lagers, so don't whine about them being flat if you're used to more foamy mass-produced junk from the major brands.

Moving on..

The menu has all the comfort foods, burgers, fish and chips (salmon and chips are better IMHO) salads, etc., and I'll be back time and time again to check up on them, because I like the drive to get here and we are always seated quickly and enjoy ourselves in spite of any shortcomings the place may have..

Hey, if the food was tremendously good and brews were fantastic, this could easily be a five star destination, but catering to the palate of tourism and quality of mass ingredients as they may be, if you like your standard blonde, brown, amber, and IPA then you'll be fine.

In summary, I think the logic here must be that they want to try and cater to the general status quo -- rather than be more adventurous in food and beer -- so, they do well to make okay food and drink for the average clientele that pass through.

it's a good 3 - safe bet for them and probably why they've stayed in business for so long, they figured out a formula that works. Works for me.

Good food.

Good food.
De-rated for being expensive and having a terribly anti -customer happy hour policy. It's only available from the bar, and you can't order drinks at the bar and then be sat with a server for food. All or nothing. Lame.

Good Kobe beef burger. Huge. Tasted so good after finishing a long bike ride in the area. Got it with sweet potato fries. Yum!!!

Live music on a Sunday night was great. Hoppin rock and roll and a lot of people were dancing. Enough room for line dancing even.
