Such a great theater. I saw Matilda and I was in love! Such a great show with SUCH a great cast!!!
First off, I'm not the type of guy who likes plays that much. I'm more of person who like action movies and doesn't want to see some antique play that no one talks about. I went to see the Wizard of Oz over the weekend, and HOLY SH!T I was completely blown away of how well they did it. These are the critical notes I saw while watching he play:
1. Their actors are flat out amazing. Each actor that plays a second role fits so nicely together and their transition from one role to the next was spot on, like they could play one role the next minute and the next minute a different role and you couldn't tell they were the same people.
2. Hardly any mistakes were made (as they usually should) but when they did make mistakes they played out with them like nothing was wrong. For example, in one scene Dorthy's microphone completely cut out but she paid no attention to it and still had a great voice that I (in the last row) could still hear her fine.
3. The most important part of it all: the special effects. Seriously, whoever was the director behind the special effects deserves a medal. It was like you were in a movie: They had screens on the walls on each side that helped set the scene, i.e. they showed a twisted forest when in the Haunted Forest scene and a green City for the Emerald City scenes. They had multiple actors on harnesses in the air for some scenes, and not the lame kind where they just fly around, but the kind where they lift up objects and interact with the characters in the play. Finally, they also had a floor with removeable sections (it could go up, down, some parts raised some not). Honestly one of the best casts to work in such a small space yet work so effeciently.
The actual theatre itself:
Food allowed in the theatre, outstanding architecture, and good design brings this place to a soild 10/10. At the time of position this, the theatre is less than 3 months old and looks outstanding. Huge parking areas outside the front (with handicapped spots) and easily-acsessible entrances make first impressions look good. The service is absolutely OUTSTANDING: Every staff member treats you like the Queen of England on her deathbed. One bonus is that they allow food and drinks (purchased from them) can be brought inside the theatre, but still at a decently high price such as in movie theaters.
Overall, I would be ashamed of myself if I didn't but the season pass. 15/10
This theatre is world class! And the fact that they have a center stage as well as a proscenium is AMAZING! Coming from a background of no theatre into THIS is a life changer. I'll DEFINITELY be coming back for more!
Beautiful place! Great shows! Comfortable seating. Expensive concessions...but you're supporting so much more than you might think.
Great performance at a great price. Will come back many more times.
Always an incredibly entertaining time. Top quality production and talent!
Always enjoyed going to the Hale Theater in Salt Lake, but this new place in Sandy is just AMAZING. Just saw Hunchback of Notre dame, and if I could give it a 10 stars I would. The music, sound and cast just did a fabulous job. I can easily compare quality to the two Broadway shows I have seen in London.
Great new theatres in Sandy. Excellent attention to detail and service. Top value for super family entertainment.
This is not the Phantom you are used to .... feel ripped off ....
I have lived in Salt Lwke 11 years and never knew about this awesome theater located so close to other fun things we enjoy like Rio Tinto Stadium and Classic Fun Center. Hale Center Theater seemed like a hidden gem to me since it is a beautiful building with free parking, which is one of the drawbacks to the other theaters downtown, where you may have to pay $10 parking.
I loved that kids were encouraged to come to My Son Pinocchio. Thankfully the ZAP program also gave another incentive for me to take my boys, in order to get our last stamp in our summer library passport. I don t think I would have paid for full price entry otherwise and this experience was magical for young ones to be enchanted and wonder if the puppets were real or pretend. In their words, It was cool to see how he (Pinocchio) like evolved (from toy, to puppet boy, to real boy)!
I loved Stromboli s singing voice and the acting of his puppets was superb! Gephetto seemed like a genuine grandpa and very impressed by the message behind the toy maker that makes perfectly obedient children.
I would love to see another show sometime- but it would have to be a special occasion due to the price.
Wow, what an awesome venue, and such a fun play. Loved it
Love how nice and cozy the theater is. So great entertainment!
The quality of the local talent is astounding. The costume, the stage, the building, even the ushers, everything top notch. Incredible. If I could give 10 starts I would. Go catch a show!
The plays are always extremely well done here. The actors are professional, the sets are amazing, and they use their unusual stage to great advantage.
HCT in Sandy does an amazing job. See a show on center stage, it will be unlike anything you ve ever seen before. The moving pieces of the stage, the in-the-round experience, the quality of the actors, all make this place one of a kind. I have seen a few shows at this location and I have loved them all. Music Man and AIDA were great. They do need more snack bar options. Other Hale theaters, such as Gilbert, AZ do a good job, but this one is completely on another level.
Incredible. The performances we emaculate. There was plenty of parking on a Thursday night. The was beautiful.
Top quality talent creates shows here... from the actors to the tech crew and directors and choreographers. Stunning experiences can always be expected!
Fantastic new theatre! Wonderful seating arrangement. Top notch productions! Beautiful facility. However, the giant peripheral screens are distracting and even annoying. These screens, in my humble opinion, do not enhance the production.
Dependable, hi class entertainment at competitive price. Theater size gives us an intimate feel to the experience.
Always enjoy going to the Hale theater. the productions are too rate.
Wonderful performances!! I've been a season ticket holder for years. Love the new facility!
They have a really cool and changeable stage. It is amazing how the stage can raise, lower, spin, and create terrain for the actors. They can even lower sets from the ceiling. The stage is surrounded by the audience. The presentation of the play and performers in the play was awesome!
Fantastic. We saw The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The acting, the theatre, everything about the new venue was fantastic. They clearly designed it to make every seat the best one in the house. Plenty of parking in the parking garage. In the parking garage we didn't understand that there was a theatre entrance directly on the level we parked on, so we went down to the ground level, only to have to go back up. Our mistake, but I guess it's possible to get turned-around in the garage
Awesome venue, every seat is amazing.....we sat on the "back row" and we still felt so close.
Amazing! The best theater I have ever been to! 100% would recommend !
They have amazing performances. With covisld you cant have food or drink in the theater, but during halftime they will have water tou can have out in the lobby.
We have had a lot of fun at HTC. They always do really great work and it is a really beautiful place.
Always enjoy the plays a bit pricey for some and for all the GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES they get could price more affordable.
Love this theatre ... No bad seats and marvelous plays
So I m giving the Wizard of Oz and HCT three stars, NOT because of the performance or the seating. The theatre is fantastic and the production was phenomenal! We sat at the very top and saw everything. It was fantastic! But I traveled all the way from Washington state to see Lexi Walker in person. I purchased the tickets as a gift for my mother who LOVES Lexi. We get there and have to see her understudy. Don t get me wrong, Ava was fantastic, but don t sell me tickets to see Lexi and then, at the last minute tell me I m actually seeing someone else. I looked and to be fair, they sent me an email where in microscopic text, they informed me about the switch. I read the bold part all about Ava, but didn t realize there was more. Could you at least bold the reason your emailing me? And, unless you purchase the refund insurance for $15, which I didn t, they wouldn t give a refund anyway. False advertising. I saw management who wanted to charge me another $150 for my sister, mom and me to actually see Lexi at a later showing. Or they could give me drink vouchers. Big whoop. Just be careful when purchasing and know that while yes, they deliver a great show, you may not be getting the star performer you signed up for.
Loved it, and Laughed So Much at the play, "Cash On "Delivery", that my cheeks hurt
Love this place! Every show is AMAZING!!! Beautifully done! I recommend this place to everyone I know!
I love this theater, the scripts and the acting are amazing, especially when the play is with dancing!
4 stars because parking can become a nightmare leaving the facility. Park backward and be courteous
We went to see The Christmas Carol as part of a company party. The acting was superb, effects were amazing, and the new building is very beautiful! I would highly recommend seeing a show here.
Great performances great seats prices very reasonable
Wasn't fond of this particular show, but it is a beautiful, comfortable theater.... Very impressed. There are upcoming shows I imagine will be fantastic.
Great performance, plenty of parking, and the staff very cordial and efficient.
This is a beautiful place and very easy to find. Parking is really nice and the stage and performance was spectacular!! Definitely would go again!
Amazing stages. The costumes and wardrobes are excellently designed/executed.
Hale Centre Theatre does such an amazing job with their stage, the scenery, the quick transitions, and the amazing talent. It is always a fantastic experience going to their shoes!
Had a wonderful time at Bundle of trouble. It was amazing !!!!
I had a 2019 season pass that I received for Christmas from my husband. I actually went by myself 95% of the time because it was an amazing mommy night out. I love all of the shows and sometime had to go again because I wanted my husband to see them.
Each show offers one 9:00am showing on A Saturday for children under 6, so Cinderella was a date for my girls and I and Seussical for all my kids.
It s a beautiful theatre with amazing staff.
Amazing new place. The entire building has so much character to it. Cant wait to go back down and see a play in the big theater. Workers were very nice as well.
Beau Jest was a lot of fun! They usually do a good job here, and you can see from any seat.
I like the old one better. The new one just doesn't do it for me. I mean, it isn't bad, there is just something about the old one that did it for me. Prices are way higher too.
AMAZING!!!!! The performers for Susical brought me to a new and adventurous world filled with excitement and music.
Best theater experience ever! The staff is very helpful, the performances are superb!
A state of the art circle theater. There is not a bad seat to be found. Clean and elegant, a perfect place to take the whole family to get away from the cares of the world.
We love the Hale Center Theater! I discovered this theater before they had their Sandy location and I d go to the West Valley location. I love the round stage so that you can see every angle as the actors are performing. Since going to the newer Sandy Utah location I ve fallen more in love with it since you can go to see plays in the larger round center theater or the smaller jewel box theater. They are both exceptional experiences. We ve lived it so much that we got season passes for 2019 and now 2020 as well. My kids enjoy it as well!
Amazing stage and acting! I will definitely be back soon!
This place is amazing. The sound can be heard from anywhere. The stage raises up and down. You need to see a show there at least once
Hale is just straight up amazing. They have some Broadway type actors. The stage technology is amazing and never fails to amaze me. I've seen only two shows and I am so excited to see more in the future. The staff is friendly. It's a little pricey but it's worth the money.
Beautiful theater. Great performances. Little high priced, which draws an older/wealthier crowd. Most people were dressed business casual when I went.
We had a great time at this new theatre. Very cool stage effects that drop from the ceiling (no sound at all of motors or cables). Quick transition between scenes. Entertaining talent.
First time could not have been better, get production
I saw the Scarlett Pimpernel on the center stage and left feeling soooo impressed! The sets are incredible and they change them so quickly! The actors were great and I felt completely immersed in the play even in the back row! Highly recommend!
Everything about this theater is phenomenal in every way. A very magical experience.
OZ - buyer be ware. If you buy tickets under the impression that L Walker is performing all shows as advertised, it is not correct. Per her website she will not be at Hale: 12/21, 12/22, 12/25, 1/1, 1/2, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30. We found this out the hard way. I called Hale and they said not their fault and we were out of luck, but they have to know these dates ahead of time. They are advertising and selling shows for a headline performer who will not be there. This has happened to us twice now at this theater. Check your tickets.
This place is a gem. My wife and kids and I LOVE the Hale theatre. Every show we have seen has been a real treat.
I absolutely love the intimacy of this theater! It's still got a good lot of seats but very close even way in the back. I have also seen Hale's version of Christmas Carol many times but this the one at this location was my all time favorite. And this is the small theater! I have yet to see the big one but this is a very amazing place.
