I LOVE this place! I'm not local. A friend I was visiting brought me here to stock up on food for a snowboarding trip. They have a huge selection of excellent healthy foods. Their creamery and charcuterie are amazing. Got to try so many samples of delicious things. And the people who work there are very patient and helpful. Not a bad deal for how great the quality is.
Wish they had one closer to me. Definitely recommend a stop here!

I moved to Bellingham from Seattle, where Safeway and QFC were my go-to groceries. I started shopping at Haagen only because there was no local Safeway at the time, and quickly came to realize its superiority to any other grocery I have shopped. Haagen consistently offers the highest quality produce, meats and deli items at competitive prices, and shopping at other stores has become a last resort for me.

It's not normally my prerogative to review supermarkets, but I had such an exceptionally bad experience today that I couldn't not say something. While the normal checkout and meat section employees are always helpful and attentive, the deli section as of late has been an abysmal train-wreck of inattentive, dismissive, argumentative and generally unskilled customer service.

One would expect a simple greeting of "How can I help you?" upon approaching the counter, instead I am greeted with silent stares and an eventual "How is your day?" followed by more staring in what I can only assume is an attempt at telepathically discerning my order, either that or it is an intimidation tactic so I will walk away. Lately I'm leaning towards the latter.

On my most recent trip, I placed an order for a hot sandwich, not only did it take 15 minutes to make, but it was stone cold when I unwrapped it to eat at my home a short distance away. The best part was that the girl behind the counter actually walked away when I put my order up for them to take. I had to wait and flag down an employee from another department to make sure my order was placed.

I can only assume one of two things from my experiences at this Haggen's deli: either the employees abhor their positions and lack all semblance of work ethic, or the actual work conditions these employees are under have caused them to resent the customers they are being paid to serve. Either way I would urge anyone and everyone to avoid giving business to this side of the market until they can ensure their patrons don't have as terrible an experience as I have.

The staff is friendly, and the store is really clean. Once a year they do a complete deep clean. I've worked for that company before. I can't recommend their breakfast tacos enough. I personally like the cold ones. You can use the microwave in store and the eggs stay fluffy. You can get the hot from the counter, but i think they just slap it on a grill for a minute, because you end up with a crunchy mess. The staff is also extremely helpful and very nice

Friendly, personal service, but vastly overpriced compared to say WinCo. (WinCo is, of course, furthermore owned and operated by its employees, whereas I believe Haggen has recently moved from being a local institution to being part of a big national chain [Albertsons?]).

In my case, where I live on a tight food budget but also live only a couple of blocks from Haggen, I find that if I stick to inexpensive items and "loss-leaders" such as milk & eggs, I can get away within a few dollars of the price I would've spent at WinCo. But for any more than a few items costing more than a couple of dollars each, I find I easily save 10 and $20 a trip by going to Winco instead.

But! as a neighborhood store that I can walk to quickly, open pretty late and pretty early (5 a.m. to midnight), they have a very very good selection of items when I I'm in a position where spending a couple of extra dollars looks more attractive than driving.

Deli has good mac n cheese! Next to the deli is a dining area. Seating area outside with a fireplace and lots of extra places to sit. If you work in Barkley it's a great place to take/buy lunch/ Groceries are a bit expensive but you'll find what you need!

Don't believe the bright, friendly, neon sign. This establishment is not open for business 24 Hours a Day. As a matter of fact they stop doing business for about an hour during an arbitrary section of the night.

I'm not sure why, it's always something vague about their computers, or something like that. We live in an era where I can send the entire Star Wars Saga (even the ones that suck) via Google Drive to the other side of the planet in a matter of minutes, and yet Haggen takes an hour to "reboot a system." What is this? Jurassic Park?

So, if you really needed a toothbrush at 12:15AM on a Sunday (Saturday night folks!) you are outta luck. I would only recommend Haggen to someone I don't like very much.

Perfect as usual! Love this store and it's the best for all kinds of cool stuff. Please follow the mask requirements to keep employees safe and all others around you. We don't want to shut the county down again.

I adore the Haggen brand of markets. From customer service to atmosphere, they absolutely bleed "local." Even after being bailed from bankruptcy and therefore acquired by a parent company (Albertsons, I think?) they haven't lost a single ounce of their charm or character as a whole. I prefer to do as much shopping as possible at Haggen stores. However, there's one thing to point out - In general, prices are slightly higher than competing stores for fresh products, and some branded goods. However, their fresh products seem to be the best you can get in the area. Absolutely recommended.
