Charles will treat you like family. I was just running away from traffic and found a great margarita and jicama salad.

Literally fastest and best Fresh Mex restaurant ever. Visiting from Dallas so had to try the Elotes ( street corn ) it was bomb. And the shrimp burrito OMG !!! @#$% THERE WAS SHRIMP IN EVERY BITE!! SO AWESOME.. Definitely will be returning.

Amazing food! Restaurant was nice and clean. The portions were just right! The Nachos are amazing, very fresh and full of flavor! It was our first time trying this place and it definitely won't be our last.

Street tacos were great and prices were all reasonable! Service was good and cashier was helpful with suggestions. Loved the carne asada and Buffalo shrimp tacos!

This is my go to place. Not only for the food but also the friends I ve made. You have to come here at least once.

not even close to Mexican food! I am from Texas so I feel I know Mex and TexMex food. I could not recommend, but there may be a niche for this type food.

Love this place! Best Mexican I've found in JAX! And they live up to their "FRESH" Mex name.

My only suggestions;
1) Bring back table service... At least for dinner. You're good is WAY good enough to be date-night worthy.
2) Longer hours and weekends.... You know, for date-night.... :-)

Food was decent but the staff needs training on having a personality & being more friendly and more knowledgeable of the menu.

The food is amazing and a must try. The way owner and employees are working is remarkable. Definitely coming back.

Fresh, fast, love this place...when we crave Tacos or Mexican style we crave Fresh Mex.

I told the guy at the counter it was my 1 st time there. He says he would be back and left me standing there for a while while he went to do something else I guess wipe some tables or something. I didn't know what to order (especially being they charge almost $4 for one taco wth) so the guy suggested I get the 3 taco special with chips salsa and drink. I was sooo disappointed to say the least! The meat was not that great, 2 of the tacos I couldn't identify the meat, one of them was disgusting. I told the guy and he kindly offered to replace it with chicken. When he brought it to me he stated that he has over 200 customers a weak that come in for that taco (the one that he could only identify by what came on it) and told me that to say it's not good was not right. Y'all that s**t was gross! I will NEVER go back that was the last $10 they will ever get from me. PS they also gave me a kiddie size bowl of chips and salsa!

Food was quick, fresh and delicious. Simple menu makes choosing easy. I got the life bowl, excellently seasoned. Great service and a waste conscious owner who uses real silverware, real cups and real bowls. This area needed more health conscious options.

The food is delicious! It's made fresh to order and they have be best alkaline water in the city AlkaVita Alkaline Water!

Awesome lunch or dinner spot. Michael, the owner, is a super nice guy open to feedback. Food was incredibly fresh and tasty. Went with the kiddos and grabbed some awesome 5$ kids meals with the tastiest chicken we ve had in a while. Definite 5 star super find. Guac, queso and spicy salsa were all really special. Would most def come back often. Thanks Michael!

Awful first/last experience! Ordered take out, told 10-15 min. Waited over an HOUR while they called out names, apparently all the while our food sat forgotten. They finally gave it to us and it was cold. Asked for a refund and the guy blamed it on being busy and having few workers, then walked off to help another customer before coming back to issuing my refund. Will not be going back!

Love Fresh Mex!!! Service is always great, clean restaurant, yummy food. My favorite is the tortilla soup and shrimp tacos.

They had a lot of staff milling around in the kitchen and out front, yet I had to wait for someone to come to the counter to take my order. (There were only 3 other patrons already seated.) No menu boards up yet, just some menu copies in a tray. Pricey for the portion size. Everything is practically an 'add on'. The kitchen staff needs to learn the menu. I heard the counter woman returning an order to be redone because it included dairy items the vegan customer had asked be left off. My fish taco was supposed to come with sour cream, but did not. When I mentioned it to the sever, she asked if I wanted that added. I pointed to the menu and told her it was supposed to come on the taco. There were no diners waiting to be served, and yet it took over 20 minutes to receive my food. The vegan taco was brought out first and I had to wait for the fish taco. The taste was ok, but nothing exceptional. The 'sauteed' peppers and onions on my vegan taco were pretty al dente. The avocado fruit salsa on my fish taco had no avocado in it. Their water had a funny taste, too. I may try it again in a few months after they've gotten things worked out and staff fully trained. Not impressed at this time.

I stopped here today completely by chance looking for a quick bite to eat and had no idea it was even here The review were really good so I gave it a chance . I was really impressed . I had the steak fajita taco and grilled shrimp taco and wow they were both amazing! I will definitely be back really soon to try more of what they have . Really glad I found them!

The food is amazing! Really fresh! The life bowls are the perfect mixture of ingredients. By far the best item is the Tex Rolls on the starters menu. Delicious. They have great specials on menu items. The chicken is the best to me, perfectly grilled and cut. The queso is pretty great, too! Definitely the best Mexican food I have had in Jacksonville. Just to comment on the review below mine - there was hand sanitizer when you walk in and everyone was wearing masks appropriately. We have never been here before, but I thought would clarify my experience based on the review left before me!

Good food takes time. If you are in a rush, this isnt the place for you. But if you have an extra 10 or 15 min, this place will take you to another level of taco-vana. Their standard Mexican style taco is the best I've had in Jax, and their shrimp taco is right up there with the best of them. Solid burritos too. Surprisingly good lemonade too.

David and Phil were amazing! Super nice helped us with our order and were on top of helping clean up a spill another customer made. Just really awesome! They definitely made the atmosphere in here enjoyable, and the food was amazing 2nd time coming here and I am continually impressed with the food and service! Thanks guys, and thanks kitchen staff!

I ve had everything on the menu. Love everything. Now I m asking John the manager what embellishments to go with and it just keeps getting better. I give them six stars.

Recently ate here and the food was really good, a bit similar to Chipotle. The burrito was huge! The restaurant was very large and clean, the guy who took our order seemed really nice and personable. We'll definitely be back

Was okay. Put in an online order yesterday & wrote in caps no guacamole, no onions, etc exactly what I wanted & it still had guacamole & onions so went to waste. I even called before hand, and checked it off as well.. was bummed. Service was good though.

Wow! I literally have not had food like this in Jacksonville that was inexpensive, full of flavor, fresh, has healthy options and a great atmosphere. The staff was so great, like family and the bar has a great indoor outdoor area that looks at a pretty lake. I will be back again!

Emily & James are the best, the food is extremely fresh. The quality is absolutely phenomenal I had a steak bowl it was the best, custom-made to greatness. Highly recommend this restaurant. Good feel and great people waiting on you. Eddie Regan

I m doing this a week late. Charles is amazing!!!!! He has a wonderful personality, caring, a people person and just a great guy. He made sure my mom got what she was wanting. The food was out of this world. We definitely will be going back when Charles is working. He made our first experience wonderful. Keep up the good work.

My husband and I ordered three tacos of any kind. We got fish, chicken and steak. All were dried up proteins. And the fish was Cobia . It looked like an over fried Gordon s fish stick and was totally flavorless. The only topping on the fish tacos was some mango. We also got guacamole. Our order cost $40. Very overpriced for what you get. Taco Bell would have been better.

So my friend and I were on an hour lunch. I've gone to the fresh mex probably a week and a half prior and had a steak burrito it was alright but it didn't have much flavor. The cashier was really nice and diligent, the vibe was pretty chill and it wasn't crowded so I suggested it again for lunch. This time it was a ghost town, there was a different cashier who I could not understand and was having difficulty scanning my card so I had to use cash. I ordered the chimchurri steak and my friend had a chicken bowl. Both meals well over $15. I waited 30mins for my chimchurri steak that was supposed be med temp and ended up still being raw and spread over a bed of lettuce wich by the way the meal comes with a salad so I'm not sure as to why they added more greens. My friend got his chicken bowl but half of the beans and rice in it were uncooked and apparently had no flavor. But here's where it gets interesting. The manager, who was carrying a bowl of food with him around the restaurant eating. Then I guess he was having an inventory meeting and decided to sit at a table directly in front of us. Meanwhile there may have been 2 other tables occupied and that business should've been conducted in their office! Were finishing up the mediocre and overly priced plates of food when I heard a woman behind the counter screaming the managers name motioning to a guy that looks like he is on a mission making a b-line for the managers private meeting in the middle of the restaurant. Apparently he was a disgruntled ex employee looking for his last paycheck. So the story is that he didn't show up for work one day and so he was fired, now the manager is saying he needs to leave and he doesn't have to pay him now, that he hasn't cut his check. He said he has up to 30 days to render a check. The guys was obviously not happy and started cursing at him and the woman across the restaurant behind the counter. They both got up and escorted the man out. While my friend and I were left staring at the managers client awkwardly until the manager came back...oh by the way they had a ton of butter knives to use to cut my steak and it was accompanied by a flimsy plastic fork. This place isn't going to last at the rate they are going. It's sad to see because it's closer to my work than chipotle, moe's and Tijuana flats. But we shall see.

If you are going to tell stories about people make sure they are accurate. What happened is an employee was a no show for a week, We could not get in touch with him. On payday we mailed him his check and he just showed up for it so we had no way of knowing and he was a very rude a disrespectful employee to all of our staff. We did not fire him. Why you felt the need to put this on google speaks volumes!
You got a 16oz. Steak with yucca fries, and a salad for less than $15 and no life bowl costs that much, they are 10.90 unless you added lots of things. I do apologize about the temperature But if you would ve told us instead of complaining here we would have corrected it or refunded your money 100

A colleague and I dined at Fresh Mex last month for lunch. It was my first time there and the food (shrimp tacos) was delicious. The service was very good and the atmosphere friendly. This review has more to do with the integrity of three employees at Fresh Mex, Charles, Shania and James, than reviewing good food. I noticed about 1 hour after returning to work that my diamond wedding ring was missing. It did not occur to me that I could have left it at the restaurant because I don t recall removing it there. I mentally backtracked each step, and came up dry. My husband called the restaurant for me around 8 pm that evening to request they look in the booth where I dined. Miraculously, there sat my wedding ring. The staff was even marveling at the fact that numerous customers sat in that booth and the rings were still there. I appreciate the three workers for securing my rings once they were located, until we came to retrieve them within that hour. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant, for more than just their good food. They are honest people. By the way, the shrimp tacos are second to none!
