Gurney's Inn boasts a fantastic location, perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Snag a room on the first floor; beach-side and equipped with lounge chairs, these are exactly what you want for a trip to the beach. There are three-level cottages as well; they easily sleep several people and though set back a bit further are probably the best rooms offered. Overall, though, Gurney's is unimpressive. The hotel is quite dated and showing its age; a musty odor permeates many of the common areas, the dining room in particular. It's in desperate need of a makeover. There is no glamor or luxury to be had here. Rooms and amenities are very basic; you really only come for the location. Cell service is unheard of on any provider; make sure your loved ones know you're ok before electronically disappearing. Service is ok; friendly though painfully slow across the board: reception, concierge, valet/shuttle, bartender, banquet servers. Come with your expectations adjusted accordingly and with your eyes on the prize: sun, sand, saltwater.
