Interesting history lesson on fishing West Coast history

I like history museums. I like the way everything was presented and being inside the actual building is cool. Enough things to see, and I like that they presented an honest view of immigrant workers and their working conditions.

Has enough to keep kids entertained for a bit as well.

Great place for industrial history and to see large machines. Good for kids with a small play area with seating, toys and books. Excellent views of the ocean outside as well.

Went on the BC day long weekend. Was not busy. Our kids 9 and 11 really enjoyed the tour. It was an interesting look into the past and history of the canning industry of B.C.

Learn the history of the largest salmon canning facility in BC of the early 1900's.

Awesome, really neat place and experience of important history! The staff was really really really nice and went out of their way to give us a great experience! Thank you Tara! We had the opportunity to see the canning line demonstration which was a bonus. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history.

Go on the tour, you'll learn a lot more about the history of the place, quite informative.

Lots of history and artefacts to see.
Entrance is FREE to the Canary during the farmers market days, where you can find great baked goods, sale of fresh herbs and greens, among other vendors.

Great museum........leave yourself enough time to enjoy it thoroughly - at least 2 hours. Guides are friendly and knowledgable. Museum is very community involved......will set up displays at community events.

Surprisingly interesting and well laid out museum. Exceeded my expectations.

When we toured through the old Cannery today,we all had memories of a hard life in gumboots.This old Cannery, with the pungent smells imbedded in its wooden skeleton brought us all back to a life and time when things seemed easier.

Outstanding museum. Everyone should learn about West Coast History.... especially if you are a local.

Impressive historic cannery that has been well restored and tells the story of the fisheries on the Fraser well. Pay special attention to the story of the racism of the past - against Japanese, Chinese, and First Nations - because it's a story that not everyone knows and the Cannery tells it in a good but understated way.

Kids can learn about the history of 1920's to 40's. The program leaded by the staff are excellent and it is more than museum because it has many meaningful tour through explanation and experience with well organized tools and etc. It worth to pay your time with kids this place.

It's a great place for kids to learn about Canada's 1920s-40s. Particularly, participation in programs organized by museum staff will allow you to travel through the times and experience more than just museums through explanations. It is necessary to spend time and invest with children.

This place explains the history of Steveston's canning industry. It is very well done on the inside. They have done a good job at adding displays to the cannery well still preserving its character and history.

A place for education for salmon and nice tour guides

Great place to take younger children, fun activities on special holidays. I'm very impressed with the Easter Salmon, she was pretty cute! It was very cold inside so bring a jacket if you go in the winder/early spring.

Amazing Historical Site!!! Beautifully preserved. We were at the sunday farmers market as the hot dog vendors "O'Canadawg" and we had so much fun!!!!

It was super cool. All the years I've lived here, never knew we can go inside and explore. This day was spur of the moment and we were glad for the opportunity to learn and reflect.

Who would think an old fish cannery would be interesting? I had no idea what it was going to be like, but it was really cool. It gives a good history of that industry and parts of BC history as well. It's a big place, so it's easy to spend a few hours.

Situated at the end of the fisherman's wharf, this operation gives alot of history of the BC fishing and canning operations

According to the time, there are various guided tours in the canned fish factory, which give a detailed introduction to the rise and fall of the Canadian fishery environment, the transformation of the factory, the evolution of fishing boats, and there are also canned fish tastings. Those who are interested in fishery are worth a visit.

A very interesting and educational museum to learn this history of canned fish in Canada

It was nice to learn how the fishing industry has evolved in British Columbia. It would have been more interesting to see more of the sociogical side and learn more about how the natives, the Europeans, the Japanese and the Chinese did things differently. It's cold in the winter since they don't heat the exhibits.

Excellent place to learn about the process of industrializing salmon and herring. Beautiful displays and super friendly staff. This is a place not to be missed when visiting charming Steveston Village.

Great historic site to take your kids to learn about Steveston Village's fishing history. Nice gift shop inside the place.

Did not walk into the factory to visit, but accidentally found that there are beautiful cherry trees next to it

First visit here and was interesting to learn more about the process and how complicated it is and also how literally every part of the fish was used.

We have a membership, as it's a great place to take the kids to be inside on a rainy day. And of course it's nice to visit the Easter Salmon.

If you are into learning the history of how they processed fish for canning, I would recommend you visiting here. It is quite interesting.

Great museum for learning about fishing and cannery activities in BC, set up in an old cannery building.

One of the best museum I have ever been to. So much to see. You have to take several lefts and rights to be able catch it all. The staff is eager to tell you the history of the Cannery and the bay. The price of entry is affordable and if you are under 18 you get in free. I'll definitely be back soon.

The people working there are very co-operative. Have the knowledge/experience of their job.

Neat place to see the history behind the canning industry in BC. Come when they have their farmers market on for free admission! The building is pretty cold during the winter so dress warmly!

Great place to take family, old machinery is cool to see

The site itself is interesting, and the 45-minute guided tour by Nina was excellent!

If you're going during the winter, dress warmly! They're not kidding about it being very cold!
