I went to the opera house in January with some friends while we were travelling around China. The architectural concept is interesting, but the final result, at least on the outside, is not that great. The cladding is not very precise and the overall aspect is ok, but not great. The interior, though, is impressive and it's worth a visit!

The building echoes the library opposite, both are magnificent modern buildings. In the evening, the night view of the Grand Theater reflected on the lake is even more exciting.
Really want the Zaha/out of touch/cold/dated/new money fever to be over in China, but I think maybe you need a few more generations. It s bad design and worse execution. As the exterior of the establishment is falling all over the place, you think the official will finally learn and the trend will die out , and boom you got the octopus airports in the capital. And more zaha projects under planning.
Very beautiful building, especially the water in the pool, the reflections are shining, the long slopes are slowly rising, and the photography is a good place.
A beautiful, modern facility with friendly and professional staff. Enjoyed "Swan Lake" by the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre. The website has an English version and it was very easy to communicate with most staff in English.
I was unable to purchase my tickets ahead of time online due to a requirement to register with a local cell phone number.
Works by Zaha Hadid. Compare with DDP in Seoul, see similar style. The flying long Yang with the belt is surprisingly inflexible. Seen in the Guangzhou Grand Theater, there are diamond horns, such as two black and white gravels. Unfortunately, poor maintenance, cracks and fading on the exterior wall. Except for the ticket office, it seems impossible to visit the interior.
It's looking a little rough around the edges, but Zaha's iconic wave-form stands proudly along the river amongst Guangzhou's giant leap into modernity.
Guangzhou Grand Theatre, formerly known as Guangzhou Opera House, is located at No. 1 Zhujiang West Road, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou, China. It is located in the central CBD of China's central city, Guangzhou CBD, one of the seven new landmarks in Guangzhou. The third largest opera house in the country after the Beijing National Grand Theatre and the Shanghai Grand Theatre.
Designed by Zaha Hadid, the first female and British Iraqi female architect who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, it looks like two Lingshi washed by the Pearl River and is called double gravel . . The "big stone" is the main theater of the opera house, and the "small stone" is a multi-purpose theater. The area ratio of the two is 5:1. The interior of the Opera House shares more than 10,000 tons of steel, twice the amount used by the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The construction of the Guangzhou Opera House is no less difficult than the "Bird's Nest". Purely a non-geometric design, no piece of granite or glass on the curtain wall is repeated.
Dr. Harold Marshall, the world's top acoustics master, has built a world-class acoustic system for the Guangzhou Grand Theatre, which is highly regarded by the global architecture community and artists. "USA Today" was named "World's Top Ten Opera Houses".
Although it did not enter, it is conspicuous because it has a unique shape. If you shoot close by because it is big, the whole thing will not enter, so it may be better to shoot at a little distant place (^ ^;
It is a very beautiful building in itself. The cafes there are also good. I still met the painter there. Taste the Belgian chocolate drinks there, rich and deep
Very beautiful. Always crowded. This is the largest green alley in the city among the skyscrapers. Underneath is a whole world of shops. Walking past you see other sights of Guangzhou - such as the theater.
The first time I visited the Grand Theatre, the excellent architectural lines, the human activity space became very interesting, and the triangles of various sizes had a strong impact. But I haven t experienced music in the theater yet, and there are some places in the rainy days that are not good. It is a good place for photography. Subsequent updates will continue.
