The trout and oysters were incredible. Fabulous service!
Good food not to good of service. Very atmospheric place by the bay. Food was good not great
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. The food is absolutely amazing. Best meal i've ever had. The clam chowder will visit you in your dreams. The mussels were incredible. Smoked salmon was divine. Shrimp bruschetta was everything I'd hoped for. The setting is very cool. Rammy really made sure we had an excellent experience. He's wonderful. Ask about the hot sauces. Can't wait to come back!
OMG! what an experience. Whether you sit at the bar or in a booth. The service is exceptional!!! the menu has awesome dishes such as fish tacos, fish and chips, oyesters...choose our flava:).... At the bar the have the worlds greatest bartender - ERICK, he make the finest mocktails a gal can ask for :D.
The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing, my friend had the salmon sandwich which was actually a lot more special than it sounds. I would definitely come back here.
Best brunch in Chicago. New England meets James Bond:-)
Upscale seafood eatery, quality over portion size here.
Great service and food. I love dropping by for oysters and small plates for a social gathering.
the food was delicious services was excellent very attentive to my needs
Casual restaurant, nice decor, great food, and awesome bartenders and service. GT gets the job done if you're looking for a good raw bar, a nice piece of fish or a good drink.
I was in this restaurant at my birthday and it was the great, the service and the food are the 2 prominenet features of the restaurant.
I went here back to back essentially, so I will combine my experiences. The first time, I tired the duck, linguine and clams, and scallops. All dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted great. The items that the scallops come paired with were a bit strange and in my opinion, unnecessary/ could be better. The scallops were cooked perfectly, so it wasn't really a problem. I tried the chocolate cake, key lime pie and panna cotta. All were incredible, good enough to scrape the plates. I personally had the panna cotta so I will describe that with the most detail. It had some strange ingredients, pineapple, carrot cake, pineapple tapioca, pecan crunch, toasted coconut sorbet, and pink peppercorn, but the flavors combined beautifully and lead to a perfectly balanced dish. The server, Scott did a great job and was very attentive. The bus boy was amazing at filling up my water, as I was very thirsty and drained my water a few times.
A little bit on the expensive side for a tapas place. A little bit on the small side for portions. They pitch the menu as being sharable dishes but nearly everything we ordered was too small to share. The food was excellent and the staff was amazing. I don't think we will be back though.
First time last night!..wonderful atmosphere!...food was great!...I will be back!..Oyster Sliders... OMG!!!!..so good!
Good atmosphere. Food was phenomenal. We had lobster Mac and cheese and crab Benedict. The bloody Mary has a nice kick with bourbon. Order the gin and tonic sorbet to finish it off. Staff was friendly and attentive.
It's an amazing option for lunch. Prix fix lunch menu for $25 is a bargain. Food is delicious, service is great. Highly recommended!
We had to wait more than 20 min passed our reservation but it was worth it.
Great mussels and desserts.
We would go again when back in Chicago.
seafood at this location - very tasty. Do not leave if it's busy, it is worth it. I'll return with my relatives. The bill was good for what you get.
I went with my girlfriend, the food was excellent, oysters and tuna salad over the top, and the waiters were really gentle... but maybe we chose the wrong evening because it was so crowdy and noisy that it was almost impossible to talk and it took long time waiting for every single dish we ordered
Everything I've had here has been great. Really delicious lobster rolls, oyster kimchi po boy sliders, and clam chowder. Shishito watermelon salad was a unique and surprising standout, and the panacotta was the best I have ever had.
As soon as we entered, smell was delicious! Great place. Our server, Jane, was very nice. Restaurant was full of people. This is the most important note. I was so full cannot even walk. 4 stars
GT Fish & Oyster
I love this place. The decor is unique and classy while still showing off their love of the sea and the food that comes from it. Oysters, great! Clam chowder, delicious! Lobster roll, to die for! I have also had a smoked white fish panini which was unlike any other fish sandwich I've ever had (and was still good re-heated in the toaster oven the next day- a tough feat my friends). While this is not a cheap restaurant, I believe that the quality of the food is well worth the money spent.
We went for our anniversary. Fantastic service from the hostesses, server (Hannah), as well as the management. We had the smoked fish platter, scallops, and bass. Everything was phenomenal. Highly recommend, and we certainly will be back.
I love GT Fish and come here often as it is very close to my work. I have always had amazing service (even sitting at the bar, where at some restaurant this means getting ignored by a busy bartender). The Tuna Poke, Oysters, Lobster Mac and Cheese and Crudos are my favorites. They also have amazing cocktails! The Waitlist" is my personal favorite.
Good vibe unfortunately usually busy and the prices are pretty high.
Not worth the humiliation of the wonderful staff. A lot of the staff consists of Mexicans who have apparently been prohibited from speaking Spanish and get yelled at if they do. Sounds illegal and definitely racist. 2019 and yet they can t hire white staff to do the job if Spanish is so inconvenient for the chef.
The food was great! Nick & Gio were very informative & attentive. I would go back!
Lobster Biscuits and Gravy were to die for! We had Sunday Brunch and everything was amazing. Highly recommend!
Awesome fresh seafood as expected, but dont sleep on the duck confit
Very rude waitress I encountered! I don t remember her name but she had brown hair and she was petite. Ruined my whole night!!! Hire better staff!!!
Food and service were both excellent. Coffee is from La Colombe, but a fairly traditional roast. Lobster Benedict was a highlight. Will be back to raid the rest of the menu!
Great service. Delicious seafood selections. Homemade coconut ice cream is a must have.
Perfect experience! As a French I have never eaten as well in the United States !! The dishes are refined, the quantities are perfect. We were perfectly welcomed by the team who answered all our questions. The tuna poke and the salmon plater are delicious and fresh, the lobster roll is crazy! An address not to miss if you move to Chicago. Thanks to Chris O'Connor !!
Amazing seafood. Best I've had since living in Chicago. A little pricey but worth it.
Can't live without this amazing seafood! Amazing service. "Brave was the man who ate the first oyster!"
Incredible oysters and great service. Love this place!
This place clearly knows how to satisfy their customers. Consistently with a very welcoming demeanor. The food is conveniently priced, always fresh and neat.
GT was just ok. I had high hopes because they are associated with girl and the goat, one of my favorite places. Didn't really care for the atmosphere and seating arrangements. Service was very good, the food was good as well. I liked everything we tried buy nothing truly outstanding or memorable . We tried oysters for the first time they were pretty good. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but doubt we will be back, just too many other places in the city.
If you love seafood, go and have fun. They know how to do fish.
Favorite fine dining seafood restaurant in town, but not too pretentious that you can't just walk in for food whenever you feel like it.
We cannot wait to go back. Everything was amazing, service was awesome, pacing was spot on.
Obviously excellent seafood, but also loved their meat dishes
Outstanding place with top quality seafood and great service.
Always fabulous, fresh seafood. The clam chowder has bacon goodness.
Excellent food and service, pretty much all you need.
Been a few times. Love it. Server was great and helped pick most of the menu and the best order to serve it
Tapas style sea food place. Scallops, oysters and chocolate dessert were great. Fish and chips plus fish tacos were average. Service was good and polite. All in all good but not exceptional.
Had high hopes for this place. Service was unspectacular and food was even less so. Bland and the fish had a chewy texture. Wouldn't visit again.
Great, innovative seafood dishes, outstanding drinks, nice desserts and some of the best and most expensive clam chowder I ve ever had. The decor is understated and the servers were top notch but this place is not cheap. I ll definitely be back.
They don t have WiFi spot here. Extremely ill-conceived in terms of attracting tourists. Y the way the cousins is simple, nothing special.
GT Fish & Oyster is and will always be one of the BEST brunch spots in Chicago. There food is outstanding!! I m personally a favorite of Chicken and Waffles.... they have the best in the city. No joke.
GT has a very clean and modern look while simultaneously reminding you of a restaurant on a seaside harbor. Hostess was pleasant and polite and immediately led us to a great table with a wrapping banquet. Had to be the best seat in the restaurant, so that was some good luck there. Service started with a support staff member greeting us for water, and our server arriving at the table afterwards for a quick run down of the menu and to take our drink order. Menu explanations were quick and simple and there was no fumbling into a server book for information. Eye contact. After explaining the style of food and dishes and answering a quick couple questions we placed an order. Tried one of each oyster some of which i was familiar with, 3 east coast and 3 west coast. All were delicious and carefully shucked. Mignonette lacked flavor just a little, but I am a fan of eating oysters straight up. Tuna poke was very good. The oyster po boy slider, which is very small and was only about 3 bites, was one of the best little nuggets of food I have had recently. Kimchee, fried oyster, peanuts...great balance of sweet, salty, and acidity. Bread soft and delicious...great little small plate. Lobster mac and cheese was good, but could have had a little more of a chive or herb presence, and more of a lobster taste to it. Pasta a bit over cooked but again it was good. Also had the mussels which were good, very fresh, and it was nice to not have to ask the kitchen for extra bread. All too often that is the case (bread is the cheapest thing on the plate why not make sure three is enough?).
As stated food was very solid but what made this place was the service, and every team member was providing the same quality and consistency. All were informative, polite, quick and on the ball, and maintained the table with a lot of care.
Try GT Fish and Oyster for one of the best Seafood restaurants around and EXCELLENT service.
Whole trout dish was a fantastic combination of flavors!!
The decor is very nice, the chalk drawing of a swordfish is so cool and the food is amazingly delicious!! From the New Zealand oysters that are huge to all the desserts and all in between. Great place!!
The best lobster bisque I have ever had! However, this place is a little pretentious and very over priced.
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Best dinner I can remember! We will be back
How delicious the oysters in this restaurant have been shared by too many people, so I won't say much. I want to share mussels (also shellfish) and cheese desserts. I have never eaten such a rich mussel, whether it is cooking maturity or seasoning, and free bread, it is very good! Fatty! Fatty! Super fat! In addition, the cheese surprises us. With different sauces, it shows different sweetness. It is a little sweet with a little salty and a little sour! Good restaurant worth visiting again and again!
Best service and staff in the city. Customers need to.be open to excellent innovative in seaon cuisine and not show up.witj 2 times as many people or demand things not on menu. SRA food is seasonal Give something new a try I have seen the staff scamble to accommodate
Perfect. Friendly and varied oysters and quality cuisine.
I want to go again
Clam Chowder Crab Sandwich is the best part!
seafood... super tasty. I wish there were more places like this around town. Quick and friendly service. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Phenomenal presentation, service and food. Staff are extremely fun to talk to. Really adds to the experience.
One of the best restaurants in Chicago! The atmosphere is cozy and quainte and the food is extremely fresh! The mussels and fish tacos are amazing! I also have a gluten allergy and the staff always caters to my needs. Must go if you like seafood!
I have been to GT a couple of times and ordered different things each time. The best thing that I had on the menu was the oyster slider by far- I could eat this everyday. Also, needless to say their raw oysters are great as well! I would also recommend any of their cocktails :)
GT is a definite must for seafood aficionados, especially if you re looking for dishes with unique flavors not found elsewhere. Out of the 8+ dishes we tried our first time in, here are what I highly recommend:
GT Deviled egg
Fried Smelt
*Octopus (an absolute must!)
Monkfish
*Gnocchi (highly recommend)
PBJ Panna C.
Had Sunday Brunch over at GT Fish & Oyster. It was my first time there and wasn't quite sure what to get so after some debate I decided on something I had never seen anywhere else - the Biscuits and Lobster Gravy! It was a great brunch choice. The biscuits were light and fluffy and there were real lobster chunks in the gravy, yum! I also tried the monkey bread which was brought out on a hot pan and a side of creme sauce to dip in. The monkey bread was a really great sweet treat to have after brunch. All in all I recommend GT Fish & Oyster for Brunch and would go back there again!
Food was overpriced for the quality but the oysters are a must, definitely some of the best I've had.
I really really enjoyed this place! The oysters are incredible. Fresh! A wide variety! And the staff is very knowledgeable. They really help you determine which type of oyster is the best to try, especially if you never tried oysters before. You must try the lobster roll and mac and cheese! The Last Call is a great drink too.
I like the oysters here, they are nice and fresh but I come particularly for the octopus which is savory soft yet still crispy I mean probably one of the best octopi dishes in Chicago. Oh and the fish and chips are pretty freaking amazing here as well. The one downside of course is that the drinks are just OK and it can get a bit pricey but overall one of the top seafood places in Chi Town
Great food and great selection! I love their clam chowder soup and their lobster roll. The tuna is awesome as well. Love the decor. Have had a really shitty waiter there though before- he was basically kicking us out at only 8:30. Gave us our check as we received dessert and still had half a bottle of wine left. Really pissed us off for how expensive it is. But we came back because the food is so good.
I was disappointed in the service and the drinks. Every time we asked our server a question, she had an attitude and was rude. The price of their champagne was misleading on the menu. When we asked about it, our server said she would talk to a manager and she never came back. Someone else picked up our cards and someone else brought our receipts back to sign. My husband tipped 20% which I was upset about. Our server did not deserve that and I will be calling a manager tomorrow, since no one was around when we left. I am in the industry and this experience made me feel taken advantage of for mediocre food.
Not much to say here, this place is exquisite! Everything that my party and I tried, we absolutely loved. Especially, given the time period, we felt the establishment exhibited professionalism and best-in-class safety measures. Thank you guys for providing a great atmosphere to catch up with friends, safely. We will see you again soon.
