Very positive experience here. Took advantage of the half price oysters and bar drinks at happy hour and then took a table for dinner. The small plates are a fun way to share and try a lot of dishes. Three of us shared 6 plates and it was plenty. Recommend the smoked fish plate, octopus and the lobster roll.

Very strange service experience and so-so food. The servers hover without being helpful and they don't volunteer any information or help with ordering. For example a colleague suggests, in front of the waiter, that 3 people share a shrimp cocktail as one of our appetizers. The waiter brings it without saying anything and it consists of ONE shrimp.
On top of this the wine list, which is weak, is consistently an issue. I've been here 3 times and every time there's an issue with the vintage or type of wine listed on the menu vs what they have. Managers and servers offer no recourse for these mistakes.
After 3 chances for them to get this right we will be looking for a better seafood place close to work to go to.

The lomo was delicious. We also got the fried chicken. Oh. My. Gawd. Bone in chicken cut into small pieces battered and fried. I could dream about it. We also order the mixed seafood fried and another insanely good dish. Incredibly good. Don't miss Mario's.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal here with my friend. We were seated in a timely fashion with a nice table overlooking Wells St. Our server Scott was terrific - attentive, helpful in suggestions, and friendly. The bill was not as high as prior reviews suggested given 5 delicious dishes shared and two yummy drinks. Will definitely plan a future visit and highly recommend!

I don t write perfect review lightly, but What a great place! Absolutely perfect! Very delicious food served in the most perfect way. All food came out fresh and hot, not oily ( a lot of places do that to make food taste better). Perfect temperature, as in just made for you now. Drinks were yummy- we had four different ones. We loved all the food we ordered. eggplant, monk fish, sliders were great. Service was very attentive, and there was lotion for your hands in the bathroom. Well done!

Best new seafood restaurant in town. A group of us came here on a Thursday evening to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation but still had to wait at the bar for around 20 minutes. Once we were seated our waiter apologized for the wait and offered us two complimentary appetizers which was much appreciated. Two of our diners have dietary restrictions and the kitchen was more than helpful with outlining what could be ordered as is and what could be modified. The oysters are fantastic (we tried three kinds), the clam chowder should be sold in vats because I want to eat it for the rest of my life and the overall dining experience was superb. It is a little spendy but I highly recommend for a special occasion.

My husband and I had this restaurant on our list of places to dine in Chicago. We heard good reviews about this place and chose this eatery to celebrate our 9yr wedding anniversary.

This was the best decision we made!!! For starters we shared the bruschetta shrimp/avocado, clam chowder soup and a garden of fresh/charred broccoli. For dinner we had crabcake, fish tacos and the lobster roll. For dessert we shared the pb & jelly panna cotta and the carrot cake.

The fish tacos were ok but everything else was divine, delicious, scrumptious...i never had a meal where every dish raise the bar!!!

You've to eat here..even if you live out of state, buy a ticket and just fly into Chicago to only eat @ this restaurant.

As for the service, our waiter was warm, friendly and he made our dining experience even more special..

I will be back..

Phenomenal!

Phenomenal!

I was at GT Fish & Oyster recently with a bunch of girlfriends and the service, food, and experience was superb. Patrick, our waiter, was so helpful in helping us choice menu items (I'm gluten free) and the food was divine. The clam chowder is simply out of this world and I will be back again and again just for that dish alone.

I also had the fish tacos, which were equally delicious. Everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Basically you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Hamachi is really good and so is the tuna tarte, and oyster kimchi bite! Will give 5 star for food.
Just one thing, my friend and i had to yell at each other in order to let the other hear us talking, not a place for gentle chat apparently.

This is officially one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere sophisticated yet chill and the service is to die for. I would highly recommend the fish tacos, the sliders and, of course, the oysters! Great for girls' night out or a romantic date.

What an amazing start to our vacation in Chicago! ...

What an amazing start to our vacation in Chicago! The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server, Joseph, was attentive, friendly, and made great suggestions. We appreciated the attention to detail by all the staff. They surprised us with a complimentary fish of the day. The fish was moist. We had the mussels which were plump and juicy, the smoked fish platter that had a nice selection of fish and garnishes, the broccoli (recommended by Joseph) which was light and refreshing, and the soba had a good contrast in textures and flavors. For dessert, we had the brownie that was evenly balanced between the marshmallows, raspberry sorbet, and honeycomb.

Great quality seafood, cool vibes and great service. Portions were great and everything the table ordered was delicious (minus the weird "deviled egg". Would highly recommend the carrot cake for dessert!

I've been here many times before and loved it. Brought my sister in law here for her bday with our husbands and was just embarrassed! We had to wait 30 minutes for our reservation, which we would have been ok with but they weren't that busy. Than the manager kept apologizing for the wait, told us he'd be sending food to our table bc of the wait. Specifically told us, and I quote, "order light, I'll send food". One bruschetta app. 6 pieces for 4 people...not even two each. That's it. The waiter added a side to our meal order and then billed us for it. The whole situation with the manager was embarrassing. He shouldn't have said anything about sending food to our table if he couldn't back his word. By the end of our meal, he was nowhere to be seen. Coward.

I think GT Fish and Oyster is pricey and decent quality. I ordered two oysters, a cerviche, chowder, 2 oyster shooters, and a whole fish. The oysters are fresh and I can't tell the difference between this one and Chicago Oyster House. The cerviche was ok. The clam chowder was pretty good. I liked how the potatoes are cooked just right. I think the presentation of food matters here because everything looked so fancy. Overall, I spent way more than I should have.

THis is the best sea food in chicago. I had my 21st birthday in the private room in the basement. The service was phenomenal and the people where nice. The tuna dishes were my favorite. We had a special tasting menu. It is the perfect spot for a 16 person dinner in the basement. The upstairs is perfect for a romantic dinner or just drinks/oysters!

I came here for Valentine's day. Staff was amazing and everything was flavorful and just enough to fill your appetite. This spot is very romantic, but still a perfect recommendation for out-of-town friends for a nice dinner.

A little too much fashion, not enough form. Great place to go if you want something sceney, but pricey and service was super slow despite not being terribly crowded (almost 20 min from time we ordered drinks to when they arrived at table).

Every Wednesday at 10:30PM they have 1/2 price Oysters. It's a good deal for Chicago, you'll pay about what you'd expect at a coastal city, between $1 to $1.75 an oyster (as of this writing.)

The oysters varieties were diverse, east coast, west coast, and overseas. There are oyster sommeliers on hand, ready to tell you about the notes of cucumber in your Penn Cove. They are master shuckers, leaving no shell fragments in any of my 20-some oysters.

My partner and I ordered several dishes, and while good (glazed cod was the highlight) they all covered up the taste of the fish. I suspect all the seafood is as good as the oysters, real sashimi grade stuff, so it makes me upset that they'd dress it up so much.

At any rate, I'm glad a place exists in Chicago where I can get diverse, well shucked oysters. I could do without all the pomp, but beggars can't be choosers. Consider me a Wednesday regular.

I've been to GT many times while living in Chicago and had a very poor experience with their service (and subsequently their manager Dana) this morning. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back. I felt the manager was not equipped to handle my request and could have simply said "I'm sorry for the confusion." Instead, the manager became agitated at the situation and yelled at us. This is a shame since I've been a loyal customer for several years.

Made a reservation thru Google maps and was not seated because the hosts seated a couple without a reservation while we stood right there. Ask them about it and git a nasty look. Decided to go elsewhere.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. We ordered a huge selection of the menu and everything was wonderful.
The only thing we weren't impressed with were the cocktails. We ordered three of them from the menu and all three were mediocre at best. Ended up getting an old fashioned, which I highly recommend.

Visited here before heading out of the country from O'hare because of the great reviews. The reviews were right and the GT oyster delivered. Very nice ambiance, oysters were pristine. Was a moron and left one of my devices here, Jen the manager communicated well with me and sent the package to my home. Wonderful service! Will be back the next time I visit!

GReat place to go for a quick lunch have a beer and head back to the office. The mussels have a great tomato base and the service at the bar was nice. The waiters are not that friendly but then they try their best to be helpful. Loved the poboy oyster sandwich.

We dined with some international guest who wanted Great Seafood. They raved about GTFO and their delicious seafood! What did we NOT have is the Question? Crab Cake,Ceviche,Lobster Rolls all very flavorful with the Crab Cake the Very Best! The Tuna Poke needs work the texture was poor and The Big Island rules when it comes to fresh Poke.
Hawaiians make their Poke every way and mixed with everything like all Hawaiian Food.
Oysters were very tasty so mix up your oyster plate with a variety from the West Coast Oysters are Hip, Sounds like the start of a Song!
The tacos were good but tiny, tiny, tiny and soggy, better left off this great menu!
The trout was great and their service was outstanding!
If you want good seafood without the busy atmosphere and less expensive than Joe s this is your place. GTFO IS A DEFINITE Do AGAIN and Again!
Great Atmosphere. A must Try!!!!

I really like this restaurant. They have an appetizer called deviled egg. This is a wonderful appetizer. The skillful craftsmanship that had gone into the preparation is unbelievable. The crab cakes here are also delicious. The hostess and waitresses always makes us feel welcomed and well attended to. I look forward to my next visit.
