The Nature Conservancy seems to me like a scam. I donated to them once after an airline sent me an email saying that I could donate for carbon offsets.
Ever since then, my mailbox has been flooded with lots of mail from them. Each mail piece has lots of paper, and once they even sent me a thick booklet. It seemed funny to me that an organization that supposedly cares about the environment uses so many resources (think: trees for paper, fuel to deliver mail, etc).
I requested via Paper Karma (which is an awesome organization, go Paper Karma!) to take me off their mailing list, and they did not. Then, I directly replied to one of NC's mailings asking to be taken off their list, and they still did not.
Then, my husband joked that NC might be a scam. I did a little research and found that they have oil company owners and the like on their board. They've also drilled oil on Nature Conservancy land. There's lots of dirt on them. Go ahead and research for yourself.

An environmental group that concentrates on actively preserving environmentally interesting and endangered locations. If you want to keep locations natural, you have to buy them or at least buy the development rights. If you want a more detailed review, you can look them up on charity navigators.

First, let me say I admire and support the work of The Nature Conservancy.
My issue with this organization has to do with allocation of funds,
I applied months ago for a position with the Ga. chapter.
I was floored when I googled the location of this chapter - downtown Atlanta.
The marble floored, gleaning high-rise location, in prime rental space, is no place for a non-profit organization that should be watching every dollar. It definitely soured my opinion of this organization and I personally don't feel my contribution should be going for over-the-top office space. UPDATE: I DID stop by 4 years ago to a gleaming quartz lobby with a conceirge. Sure don't see that in Nature now , do ya? And you took FOUR years to respond to my review. I stopped making donations to TNC after my visit. Shame on all of you.

About The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy: Protecting the Planet for Future Generations

The Nature Conservancy is a global non-profit organization that has been working tirelessly to protect the lands and waters on which all life depends. Founded in 1951, the organization has grown to become one of the largest and most effective conservation organizations in the world, with a presence in over 70 countries.

At its core, The Nature Conservancy is driven by a simple but powerful mission: to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. This mission is more important now than ever before, as our planet faces unprecedented challenges from climate change, habitat loss, pollution, and other threats.

To achieve its mission, The Nature Conservancy employs a range of strategies and tactics. One of its key approaches is to work with local communities around the world to develop sustainable solutions that balance conservation with economic development. By engaging with local stakeholders and building partnerships across sectors, The Nature Conservancy is able to create lasting change that benefits both people and nature.

Another important aspect of The Nature Conservancy's work is its focus on science-based conservation. Through research and analysis conducted by some of the world's leading scientists, The Nature Conservancy is able to identify key areas for conservation action and develop effective strategies for protecting them.

One area where The Nature Conservancy has made significant progress in recent years is climate change. As one of the biggest threats facing our planet today, climate change requires urgent action from governments, businesses, communities - everyone. Through initiatives like their Climate Change program ,The nature conservatory works towards reducing carbon emissions through various means such as reforestation projects or renewable energy projects.

In addition to these efforts at home in America they have also worked internationally through their Global Climate Strategy program where they help developing countries transition towards low-carbon economies while also preserving natural resources such as forests or wetlands which act as carbon sinks.

Overall it’s clear that The Nature Conservancy plays an essential role in protecting our planet for future generations. With their commitment to science-based conservation practices , community engagement ,and innovative solutions they are making real progress towards creating a more sustainable future for us all . If you're passionate about protecting nature or fighting climate change then joining this organization could be your chance make an impact!
