Went here for the open mic Wed evening and it was awesome. The coffee is good and the crowd is very welcoming and friendly. The music was really enjoyable and it was inspiring to see so many other people going up and performing. I will definitely go back again soon.

When you can get a latte and a PBR at the same place, why would you go anywhere else! Coffee was awesome! Staff was friendly! Dogs allowed. They have a small parking lot in front as well!

This is my favorite neighborhod coffee house! Locally owned, great coffee, and breakfast burritos and family (and dog!) friendly :)
Has open mic/music in evenings. A great place to chill in Ballard!

Such a fun place. Went here to see a friend do open mic and was greeted by a throng of happy patreons and employees. Nice place if you just want to sit and catch up with a friend over drinks.

Great breve. Wish we had been here on the day they do open mic, it seems like they have a good setup for it! Chairs were also insanely comfy. Best part was probably the muffin top. SO GOOD. And the gal working was anything but "grumpy".

Just walked out of the open mic after waiting at the counter for several minutes and not seeing any employees in evidence. Everyone in the room already had a beverage so i just felt like i had intruded on a private event.

First time here and I already regret not buying more pastries.. We bought a fruit tart with seasonal berries - figs, strawberries and blackberries. Now I usually don't care much for fruit tarts. It's just custard berries and dough to me. BUT this one - I don't know what they did to the custard filling but it was purple and amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more of their pastries!

Best coffee house in Ballard. I've been coming here for years. The baristas, Dan and Marta are amazing every time I'm in there. If you're into music and open mics, they recently started hosting those weekly!

Very good mochas, especially iced ones. Smooth coffee. Nice place to sit back and relax. Small and local is a definite plus as well. Location is not the prettiest, but once you go inside, it doesn t matter. Sit back and sip some coffee.

Nice environment and amazing coffee, love the artwork displayed and the fact that it wasnt super crowded so I could really get my work done and talk with my coworkers without having to yell over loud music or people.

I've always loved coming here. Everything is reasonably priced, the folks working there are very nice. The liquids are well prepared, and presented. The cookies and pastries are excellent. A good vibe inside, good place to chat with friends, or work on your laptop or tablet, orr just sit back and enjoy pastries and beverages. Wi-Fi is good.

Unimpressed with the coffee, food and service. They were friendly but a bit slow. Food was overpriced and the barista didn't seem confident that the drink was correct (she was right). I'd come here again, but only because it's the only coffee option north or downtown Ballard.

This place was really cool and I love the location. Such a perfect spot to send you off on a nice Santiago Canyon ride. I ordered a regular hot coffee and low and behold, ground cardamom showed up in the spot light. Cream, cardamom and a little sugar: perfect coffee. Can't wait to go here again for some food goodies.

Oh grumpy D's, always the right amount of grumpy. I often come here to work when my home office feels a bit lonely or my home internet is out of whack. Their internet is always enough for my video conferences, remote access to various systems, and all the other techie things I do. The chai tea is good too! I never order coffee so can't comment on that. Their croissants are a great way to start the day! Cool artwork too :)

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. Non-pretentious atmosphere, comfortable seating and good menu. They offer breakfast and lunch burritos, pre-made sandwiches, a few gelatos and a nice pastry assortment. I tried the chocolate and almond croissant, very tasty. This is not a place for coffee snobs or anyone who would label themself a foodie.

I come here on my lunch break or after work for a quick snack, a beer or itallian soda. I like the chill cafe atmosphere and community vibes I get while I am here. The staff has always been happy and friendly when I've been in, and I'm so happy they're open till 9 so I have a quick, close by pick me up when I get off work at 8!

Grumpy even street coffee. Decent brrr selections for happy hour and nice local live music, some silver hair, some young artist, always real. It turns out grumpy is a decent booking agent....

This is one of my favorite coffee shops. It's right up the street from my shop. Bit I'll even drive out of my way to get a coffee and a tasty treat on my day off. The pretzels are delicious and so are the chocolate croissants.

I got an americano, it was okay. The roast on the beans is a little darker than I like from my espresso. Service was quick and efficient, but I could barely hear the barista speaking to me, and she didn t greet me, I greeted her. They only have gluten free cookies, not pastries. Which is understandable. Overall, I don t dislike the place, but just having moved to the area I m definitely going to keep looking.

I like Grumpy D's. I've had good coffee and a decent sandwich. Do NOT get the Chai Tea - It is VERY sweet and half the cup was "full" of frothed milk - it was not worth the price at all.

This is a great coffee shop with frequent live acoustic music. If you go during open mic, seating is at a premium starting up to an hour before it, partly because the regulars carve out entire sections of the place for themselves.

I like the location of Grumpy's.

I like the location of Grumpy's.
They have National Geographic 6 mos worth and it seems convenient to catch up with friends.

Good coffee good baristas - really friendly place! Nice selection of grilled sandwiches for lunch and breakfast - and good selection of juices, pastries and cookies including vegan and gluten free. Strong wi-fi, good seating, and AC. Dan and Marta the owners always see to the customers needs and comfort and instill this in the staff.

Love this place. Something for everyone -- all kinds of offerings, from chips and pop to evening of jazz to debate-watching with beer and wine... And of course, a great daily latte! Chasing staff and a COMMUNITY cafe like none other.
