Great local coffee house. In addition to the usual coffee drinks they have a good selection of teas and other drinks, snacks and etc. There is often live music including an open mic on Wednesday nights. Very cozy atmosphere, and welcoming staff. It's a pity that it will be closing soon.

I like this place a lot. The coffee is strong, the atmosphere is friendly, the happy hour (grumpy hour) deals are good, the live music nights are pleasant and intimate. I hope this place keeps doing its thing for a long while.

Absolutely essential coffee house. Consistently good lattes, and great roasted coffee. I will probably become a regular.

The coffee was fantastic and the open mic hosted by victory music was a warm and welcoming experience.

I was working in the area and need the restroom. They allowed me to use it without having to buy anything. They were the 4 th business I asked on this block. Thank you for your human kindness.

This space is really cozy and sometimes has live music. The coffee and atmosphere is really great.

Not at all what I expected after seeing it from the outside all these years. Comfy, friendly joint with good eats and beverages of all persuasions.

Nice place to drop in for a coffee, but their sandwiches take a long time to arrive and aren't really worth the price. Watch out for the weekday lunch rush.

Grumpy Ds is not pet friendly. My dog is a friendly affectionate rescue who approaches people for pets. Many of the regulars would get excited with his daily visits and astonished at such an affectionate, friendly pet and were happy to engage with him. Some people were dog shy, and I made sure to keep him away from them. Sometimes he would hop on the counter for treats. The owner of Grumpys Marta Kurtz approached me and told me that my dog was not welcome there. I told her he is just acting like a dog and I understand if she is not dog friendly but this pet advertises itself as pet friendly.

This is just the last incident in a series of terrible service incidents from Grumpy Ds. They have been serving me lattes when I ordered mochas 4 times in a row now and asked if I would like to take a day old croissant when they had fresh ones, they asked if I would like to take my breakfast to go rather than stay.

Truly living up to its name VERY grumpy!

Love this coffee shop! Locally owned, dog and kid friendly, casual and supportive venue for up and coming local musicians, super warm and friendly community feel. Plus, their sandwiches are awesome, they have yummy gluten free treats, they sell fainting goat ice cream, and I love their coffee!

They have good music and the teas and coffees are remarkable

This place gets better and better every year. I've lived next to this coffee shop for the last few years and Dan and his crew are the nicest and always make my coffee perfectly.

Their food menu is great for breakfast or lunch, and their new 'adult' drink menu and new late hours are wonderful for getting evening work done, or for socializing with a friend without venturing into the bar scene.

They make you feel like family and I highly recommend anyone looking for a good place to hang out and work, socialize or take break with the kids to check out Grumpy D's!

The staff is always so warm and welcoming. I love coming in to just relax or join in on open mics. They have excellent chai!

Open mic night is a TRUE JOY. A fantastic sense of community has been curated here and I love watching all the longtime friends interact and admire how quickly new friends are welcomed. A great place to be!

Good coffee, decent sandwiches, and friendly humans. My friends and I are staying at an Airbnb that's about two blocks from here. We've made it our morning coffee stop each morning so far.

Very nice coffee shop in Ballard. Right on 15th, so easily served by the transit system. There are a few parking spaces in front.

WiFi is spotty and parking is limited. Seems like a good spot otherwise.

Decent coffee, the staff leaves something to be desired. There are plenty of coffeeshop in Ballard, I'll be going elsewhere.

Every time I come here the bald guy barista looks so miserable to see me. He just stares at me and I have to say hello first. Very gruff seems put out but not to everyone he is very friendly with what I'm guessing are regulars. I'm very annoyed and usually I call people out on their rudeness but I have a feeling it's tolerated because the woman owner is also not very friendly. Too bad.

Good coffee, but it really depends on the barrista. You can have a great espresso or something completely attrocius. Pastries are great, and it can become a bit crowded due to people who spend all day here.

Very nice place. Coffee is sweet, bartender is extremely friendly. We even got some food and flavors and we're not charged for this. There is parking, a lot of places to sit on and they can do anything for to go. do recommend this place to everyone!
