I visited the Aquarium second time. Many kinds of sharks! It is amazing!
I visited the Aquarium second time. Many kinds of sharks! It is amazing!
Myself and my boyfriend visited this aquarium on a dreary afternoon whilst on a long weekend vacation in Barcelona.
It was easy to find, even for tourists who have no sense of direction.
Although we thought the entrance fee was quite expensive we definitely thought it was worth the money. This place is really big, we spent a good few hours here there is lots to see.
The children's area was super cool, I loved it even as a 25 year old.
We loved the moving floor they allow you to really look at the large tanks without having to watch where you're walking whilst keeping the human traffic moving.
My only criticism was the bar keeping you from getting right up close with some of the exhibits. There were also no staff around to stop tourists taking pictures of the exhibits with their flash on even though it asks you not to do it. Not only this but what if there was some sort of emergency and a member of staff was needed?
Well worth a visit, the best aquarium we've been to and we love to visit aquariums so we've seen a few.
Caveat: COVID has hurt this place a great deal, and you can tell they re running on limited staff, resources, etc...so even if it s not a 10/10 spot, try to support them. That said, for a world class city, the aquarium doesn t live up to expectations. It s a fine place to spend an hour or two with your kids, but not worth a repeat visit. Negatives outweigh positives with high prices, limited exhibits & species, mislabeled signage (incorrect names for the fish), poor explanations, etc. (Hoping it s a one off experience, but we even saw a few dead animals in two tanks.) I wanted to like this place more, but the Barcelona Zoo runs circles around this place - both regarding quality and value. In short - go once, support the place, but limit expectations.
You can get 2 discount if you paid for the tour bus or if your hotel provides a discount. Worth to check-out.
We had a great time looking at the different sea creatures.
but in a few tanks it looked like very big fishes (and a lot of them) in very small tanks that we did not like.
Usually an adult ticket costs 20 , we paid 18 each:)
Very enjoyable!
They had a great diversity of fish and sea creatures, but there was some wait to get in front, alot od waiting to see alot of the attractions in there.
But all in all it was worth the go !
It was fun. We had a lovely afternoon with friends. The pinguins looked really cute but a bit sad. The best thing was probably the tiger shark. Nice.
Nice, smaller aquarium. Most of the tanks have bars that keep the kids back from the glass which serve a purpose I suppose, however the kids sometimes have a hard time seeing around it, my two year old happens to be right at eye level with the bar.
Fish look healthy, the exhibits and tanks are super clean, well lit, and for how busy it was the crowd flowed well.
Best part of the aquarium other than the kids getting to pet the koi fish was seeing all the super yachts next door.
If you are in Barcelona with kids I would attend, otherwise I would skip!
It was a little small but very nice! We went late in the afternoon and there was hardly anyone there. The tanks are well maintained and interesting. We're especially liked the small tanks near the end. The guy that made them is so talented. They looked like little worlds!
Great aquarium. Loved the glass tunnel that showed all the sea animals as if you were on the ocean floor. Still, I would love animals to be in the wild rather than in an establishment for our leisure
Being able to see exotic animals up close is always a treasure. There are two conveyor belts that take you through tank tunnels which immerse you into the sea and it looks incredible. The sharks and stingrays were my two favorites. Overall it is nice, but it can get busy during certain hours and it needs more interactive station where you can get your hands in the water.
Wonderful experience with many manta rays, sharks and other fish. Definitely worth going!
One of the best and very well maintained aquariums around, perfect ambience and plenty room to wander and explore around. Variety of sea life and brief Info about the same. Place sitting perfectly around MAREMAGNUM mall with exquisite food eateries at it's disposal.
Great place to entertain kids for few hours. Nice variety of marine life set in a very close to natural environment.
Absolutely amazing place to visit thoroughly enjoyed it
It is a very friendly place for grown ups, younger people and also children and it is quite big so take your time during the day to enjoy it properly. It also has a shop at the exist where you can find cute stuff to buy as a memory. I went by myself and felt very entertained by all the small aquariums where you can find all sorts of colourful fish and water species. I even saw baby seahorses! I loved the underwater passage, stayed there for a long time going forth and back while watching the sharks. I also loved the penguin area.
Well organized. Advice - buy tickets online, friend pack for 4. Sharks thank is impressive, other thanks depends of content. Mediocre restaurant inside, hamburger so so, chicken breasts with too few potato, spaghetti OK
Really under whelming for a major cities aquarium yet they charge through the roof. Super basic and old displays, the conveyer belt which takes you through the glass tunnel wasn't even working. Only thing worth noting was the breath taking planted aquarium at the end. Massively dissapointing place with serious updating required.
A nice aquarium with underwater tunnels, not the biggest, took about 2 hours to walk all around.
A lot to see see and it's not too bad on a price I recommend it
Not brilliant to be fair. Pretty average displays, nothing that makes you go wow particularly. One floor of displays whereas a whole floor dedicated to the shop and one for the cafe/penguin display. Wasn't overly cheap at 21 per adult, 12 over 6 and 6 for under 6. Very busy inside, queueing was constant. Would swerve if given another choice.
Can find many species of fish. Can fine many sharks while walking through the transparent tunnel. Must visit place in Barcelona
Good for Kids, But cant complete with Palma de Mallorca's aquarium
This is a very high 4-star rating. I'm from the UK and love to visit Zoos and Aquariums often. Aquarium Barcelona is very reasonably priced and the diversity of animals and corals they keep is surprising. The extra experiences that they offer such as a shark cage submersion is also very impressive. I didn't use the dining facilities here but as a walk through visit I was very impressed.
Just amazing, this aquarium is way bigger than I remembered, we spent there 3 hours more or less. Super recommended!!
Wow... great small getaway to see the Ocean up close.. it is some what small but it's nice.
I thought that it was very informative and had a decent variety of sea creatures. The fact that it is available in English, Spanish and what I assume was Catalan is always highly appreciated. Some might say it's a bit more expensive compared to other Aquariums but I would still recommend.
Not as good as Lisbon's aquarium but still interesting. They not very organised or informative, no floor map available. So you just follow the crowd and hope not to miss anything. The kids are all over the place, screaming and running around, the glass is murky with finger prints and lighting is not great. The animals seem stressed compared to the ones in Lisbon, maybe the tanks are too small for the school of fish housed in them or wrong combination of fish in the tank. Still nice to visit on a rainy day
Umm... I mean, for 20 I was expecting a bit more than just an underwater glass tunnel- which was totally cool, don't get me wrong... but it's pretty much all this place has to offer. A bunch of the smaller exhibits around the place were drained and just empty and unlit. Maybe it all would seem awesome if I were 10 or 11, but definitely not a Barcelona hi-light.
They have a good variety of sharks - sandbar, sandbar tiger, white tip and black tip.
I really enjoyed it. And I am saying this as a diver how as been to the Caribbean and red sea
To expensive, to small, to crowdly. If you ever have been in any other aquariums like that, then you really don't need to go there. If it is going to be your first aquarium with tunnel under water with passing over sharks, it is worth to go.
The family enjoyed the visit, big variety of species. The place around the aquarium is also very beautiful.
Nice place to spend some time while visiting Barcelona, but not so impressive as expected. The guys on the entrance door take a photo of you and on the exit, they try to sell you a photo for 12. Too much expensive for 1 piece of paper!!!
Listen guys the place is simply not worth it. It is very small and there's nothing impressive to the average tourist. I would better burn my 20 .
Great, great maretarium! Second to none, comparable in Europe to the Lisbon maretarium. Wide range of animals from aksolotl's to penguins and stingrays, also has a submerged tunnel that offers a unique perspective on the sea floor. Well organized, never too crowded and the movement of the visitors works better than many other similar places. Would recommend for families and travellers alike.
Aquarium is great! Definitely worth a visit. Even if you don t have kids!!!
If you want to spend the money to get in the ac and shade I recommend it. It could use some money put back into it. It looks like the tanks need cleaned and updated and the descriptions could use some updating as well. For the price I expected more.
Best place to be with Kids on a Weekend.. Lots of Exciting moments
brings close to nature and aquatic species which a person can only see in movies. Sea horse, sharks and jelly fishes are the best
No city is complete without its Aquarium. We have visited so many cities around the world and have always visited the aquariums as it is our passionate life-long hobby. At home we have marine and freshwater aquariums.
Our conclusion is that a city s moral pulse is connected to how happy the sea life is in the city s aquarium. Happy fish and sea creatures have definitive unique characters and characteristics that show very clearly if they are calm, well-fed, good water quality etc.
The Barcelona aquarium is pretty good and is worth spending a hot afternoon at the aquarium for a couple of hours.
Small, but our daughter had fun. It has a few interesting solutions like aquarium with stingrays. We had a great time.
I was a bit disappointed for what a visit costs. The saltwater tanks were not very clean and had scratches all over them. One tank even contained ill fish with white spots all over. No real coral reefs or even makeshift corals, which made everything very dull to look at. I rather preferred the fresh water tanks. The area where children could play with the fish was just animal abusive. And no Mola Mola to see in the big tank... anyways, fine to see with your kids, but when you re an aquarium lover, you ll be a bit disappointed.
I don't remember the number of species in Barcelona aquarium, it was written out there. . Beautiful , amazing place for kids and adults to spend a half day.
A place worth visiting in Barcelona! A quit big and impressive aquarium.
Kids will enjoy, adults might
Took a few hours tour at the Aquarium with my small boy. While buying the ticket the cashier asked if I want to buy a booklet about the Aquarium for more additional 3 Euros. Probably she had to ask it. Unfortunately I didn't find it necessary - I like to use an Audio Guide though, this option wasn't available.
At the entrance you are asked to pose for a photo which later on they try to sell for you for 10 Euros. Sometimes I found hard to locate the English description of the animal.
While walking around the Aquarium I had a feeling that the building and the installations are aging and a refurbishment would be necessary.
It is a great place to visit with your children. Overall, it is a good oceanarium, it has variety of fish spices, even I as an adult was amazed by some types of fish. For instance you can see there a huge fish beluga, it is endangered spice everywhere in the world.
Very disappointing. Thought it was bigger than actually is and with way more species.
Better to save your money and spend it in Sagrada Familia instead.
Please be aware that lockers do not return your coins! There is a very small text informing this on the back of the doors, but is barely noticed!
I love it. Great place to see the marine life and also to spend 1-2 hours away from hot sun :)
Wonderful to go with kids
Nice place. Good exhibition. Too many people most of the time
Nicely located, such beautiful scenery I could sit outside all day. Inside, not so much. I did enjoy the sea creatures but there were so many children running around everywhere it was loud and really busy, I would recommend going at least busy time.
20 entry for adults and those under 4 are free. Feeding times for animals vary depending which day you go and time, but this was the most exciting part of our visit. Good for an afternoon and to keep the kids entertained, but not the most impressive aquarium I've visited.
FISH! OCTOPI! SHARKS!!! AND STRINGRAAAAY, STRINGRAAAY!
Loads of fish and stuff behind a big glass tunnel that you can walk through then when you get through the tunnel there's more stuff!
They have a massive pirate ship in the gift shop (which you cannot go into or on to, highly disappointing element of this large sea life emporium, but I'm still giving it 5 stars because of all the other stuff you can do after the bit with the tunnel, I won't say what the stuff is because it was a surprise to me, it's not a big pirate ship that you can go inside or climb on to but let's not get hung up on the fact that there is no interactive pirate ship feature, only a decorative one in the gift shop which is there entirely for decorative porpoises).
A GREAT DAY OUT!
Excellent aquarium, my 4yr old son loved it, specially the submarine on the second floor, and the tank for feeding the fish. The circular path under the shark tank was so cool!
The travellator was nice to view the marine life at a nice pace
Great experience not only for the Kids but for adults also. Could easiky spend 2-3 hours to hide from the sun. The area arkund the aquarium is also fantastic!
Yes, a must see. I have visited many aquariums and this one is worth every Euro. You need 2 hours to see the exhibit if you take your time. I am glad we were able to visit.
Absolutely fantastic great price and a good day lots to see the staff fantastic can t do enough for you highly recommended
Lots of nice tanks and fish etc take about 30minutes to walk round
Good fun for fish lovers. Compared to other aquariums we were to, there is slightly lower number of fish species. There is a huge tank with moving belt, so you can enjoy watching fish while moving around the tank.
The place is nice and there are a lot of things to see but I don't understand why so many people recommended it, I mean it's just an aquarium with no activities to do. If you have other options or places to go I recommend that you skip it.
I visited the place with high expectations because I heard it was very beautiful. It is a nice aquarium with a lot of information about different kind of fishes. The big aquarium is really nice you can just stand and look while you are on the 'conveyor-belt' . It goes around half of the aquarium and after there is a part in the middle where you can sit.
In the end I would say it is nice to visit it. But the price is a bit expensive, so if you are for a few days in Barcelona I would advise you to visit something else. If you are a student if you have an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) you will get a 10% discount.
Amazing make you use promo codes from maps given to get money off
As expected, like most aquariums, relaxing to watch the fish swim in the big tank along with the smaller ones. Great place to let kids play and rest their legs after they get bored looking at old building in the Gothic quarter. Close to the mall as well if you are looking for some shopping.
It was a big disappointment. Waste of money and time. Big queue but only one cashier. Rude and unfriendly staff at the entrance nullified all desire to go into. It was a photographer and his assistant who didn t let us enter the aquarium exhibition and shouted at us with assaults. As a biologist, I can say that this exhibition doesn t worth the cost of ticket. Most species are average but ones which I expected to see weren t there. I was happy to see beluga, aksolotl, basilisk and sharks thanks at least for that.
There were some decent exhibits and the penguins were great. A bit pricey and lots of tourists. If you can handle the money and all the people, worth a visit.
Nice experience.
Happy place to spend time.
Cool aquarium.
If you want to enjoy a little more check the shark feeding time...
Quality - price relation very poor. Lady in the entrance asks "do you want a photo?" without saying anything about payment. In the end you have to pay 12 extra for them. Aquarium itself is little, haven't seen any penguins, about 1h inside and you're out. Overall, it's not a best place to go for 21,5 per person. I've spent better time in the port watching yachts.
A great way to while away time with the kids. Purchasing tickets at the kiosk outside was smooth. We had discounts we'd received from Macdonald's at la rambla. It was about 15 min walk away. L'aquria had a wealth of fish and underwater sea creatures with all the facts laid out nicely on the top of the tank or by the side.
The intriguing thing was seeing the sharks swimming alongside the fish! They seemed to live in harmony! The octopus were intriguing too, they seemed to be demonstrating some sort of dance against the glass:-) also lovely views of the pier could be seen from upstairs.
We saw the penguins very briefly as it was closing time and were practically rushed out by the staff.
All in all we recommend going as it's something the kids remember and gives them something to talk about.
3 spectacular things: 1.The tanel 2.The penguins 3.The batoid fishies
The best aquarium I've ever been (after the one in canada)
Located not far from Barcelona Zoo and adjacent to the Mall as well. So we spend a whole day at those three places.
The aquarium is not a huge place but it has a wide range of fish inside. We spend around 2 hours there.. our kids loved this Aquarium though ..
Excellent view and experience on walking through Glass tunnel..
Some pretty cool Aquariums, clean and not too old interieur. Nice for Kids. Air condition. So much for the good things.
Its a rip off. You pay 21 per adult and 16 for child (4-10y) for it. So as a family you pay around 60-80 just for entrance. The info brochure costs 3 extra each (just an few sites, definitly not worth to buy. You will be photographed when Entering, and will be asked to buy it at the exit. You don't really get whats going on and they already took that Photo. They print it out and try to sell it to you when exiting. A waste of paper and energy, though they tell you to take care of the environment inside by a lot of videos etc. Its pure hypocricy. just take a selfie inside and print it at home.
Inside of the Aquarium is no personel. But where you can buy stuff there is a lot of staff. They tty to milk you more at the restaurant in the exiting area. Don't eat there, just go outside a few steps there are a lot of good opportunities to eat much better food, at a more reasonable price.
The water tanks inside are mostly (not all) too small for the fish. Look at the google info about approx. visitor-count, before planning your time to enter. We got there at a good time and it was still a lot of people in there. You dont want to go in there at peak times. You will have a hard time seeing anything, because it will be packed with people.
So if you didn't have seen sharks and the like and you are here anyways, give it a try. But if you have anything better to do and the opportunity to go in a another aquarium like sealife in another city, skip it. Better go eat a fancy dinner for the money ;)
Amazing mediterian ocean experience...Sharks and stingrays are worth the money to watch....
Amazing experience
Ok, little bit small and warm inside but very fun for children
Very interesting aquarium, the fish look happy and healthy. There's also a great area for the kids to explore.
It's a nice place to bring your children. The tour might be a little short, but there a lot of different spicies and the total experience is nice. The restaurant is a rip off and the family photos that they are selling later on, when you finish the tour, are also somewhat expensive. In total it was worth visiting.
Brill place. Kids had a great time and the overhead aquarium experience is fantastic. Highly recommend this as a number one place to visit while visiting Barcelona.
It's really worth seeing, there is a rich sea life and it can be seen in one hour or less actually even though they tell you it's two hours.
It's a nice and interesting place, but quite small at the same time. It will take less than 1 hour to see all exhibition which is quite impressive.
Loved it here. They have really cool walkways that move slowly through a tunnel aquarium which allows you to see some sharks and other fish at a decent pace and from a cool perspective. Really informational and the kids there seemed to really enjoy it. As an adult, I found it interesting to read all of the plaques and information about the fish. They have a good variety and I feel the visit was well worth the money spent. It s also near a shopping centre and I believe has a spot for eating as well as a boutique.
Looking for a great place to take the kids in Barcelona? The aquarium is the perfect option for you. 30-60 tickets and you will absolutely have lots of fun.
It's not as large as other aquariums and you can probbaly spend under an hour here. Admission is pricey.
Really nice visit, big variety of animals from octopus to pinguins.
The tour itself is faster than we expected though
Honestly one of the best aquariums there is so much to see and I've never seen tanks so clean was really good to see. Beats the one near me in Scarborough 1 million times over Haha. I love the moving floor as well it was huge and the shark tank was huge. The only bad thing and it's a shame to say please sort your penguin tank penguins need to have daylight they need to be in the fresh air you cant just keep them in a tank. They looked sad
Really amazing place for all ages. Located in one of the best places of Barcelona. Very popular aquarium with one really very impressive attraction - the moving corridor under glass ceiling of huge water tank where all fish are swimming. You can see sharks swimming lazily among other fish, something very strange looking like half-fish and sea devils smiling at you from above. A memorable experience. Informative, educational, beautiful, family friendly. You can found there everything you need, food center to relax, souvenir shop and much more.
For the entry price we were perhaps expecting more inside the aquarium. Asking another 3 euro for a guidebook is a bit cheeky considering how much they are charging for adult entry. Our two year old enjoyed at least and was able to enter for free.
Very nice museum but too expensive (21Euros) for what it offers. The visit is no more than 2hours maximum if you stay and see all details. The most impressive things is the big tank with the sharks where you get to see them from really close and the penguins space. If you also get to see a feeding So for the penguins it is really nice. All in all, a great place for small kids with meant different fishes to see and things which raise awareness for the protection of the sea but nothing too impressive that would justify the 21Euros.
