Wonderful food, attentive and welcoming service. They catered for our desire to try a very regional dish that none of us heard if before by adjusting the portion size and making it available for our table of four to share. Not many restaurants are so accommodating!

Food was okay but not wowed for the exorbitant price. We were rather let down a little bit by the overall experience. Service was good and attentive, but can be pretentious. Just not
One of the best restaurant for Italian food in Melbourne. Style can be described as a harmonious mixed of the classic and modern. Great atmosphere. Staffs are professional.
For a high end restaurant (authentic Italian) disappointing to see several Asian chefs The prices aren t justified for the quality. We were served New Zealand mussels while Australian mussels are available. They couldn t even serve all the food at the same time. We were finished before the last meal came out. The staff were excellent. Can t complain at all about the service. They don t even deserve one star.
We dined there for my parents wedding anniversary and were amazed: unmatched service, exceptional food and several add-on dishes. Best Italian restaurant in Australia. Thanks to all the staff there, including the Grossi father and son combo!
Really gorgeous atmosphere. Food very good, service excellent. It's pricey but I was OK with it. Be careful of the champagne offer up front, it's $30 and they make it sound complimentary
We love to eat out and have been to so many great restaurants in Melbourne. But Florentino was right up there as one of the best food experiences that we can remember. Great service, atmosphere and food to die for. Great balance of sweet, sour and spice. Great mixture of textures. Impeccable presentation. Make sure to leave room for the desserts. They were incredible! We'll definitely be back
You'd think that being gluten free would be a problem in an Italian restaurant but not here. Staff are so professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Favourite restaurant in Melbourne
Had lunch in the cellar part. Actually on street level with seating inside and out. Had the Lasagna and the minestrone. Both very substantial and hearty. Just like they are supposed to be. Atmosphere and service both very good. When it became crowded, the tables seemed closer together and we needed the neighbouring diners to get up so we could get out.
Delicious dinner with tasty pasta at the Cellar Bar. The service is exceptionally good and charming, and my dining companion said the coffee was delicious and requested to go back.
Full course meal for reasonable price. Service is good and consistent. Staff are nice and friendly. Maybe needs a little improvement on the pasta quality. Otherwise, good value for money.
We ate @ the bistro with the food and service being great. The wine list is very extensive and expensive, which took a while to get through and at the end settled for wine by the glass. When we received the bill for payment i had noticed that they had added drinks from another table onto our bill. I pointed this out to the waitress and they deducted these from our bill.
Beautiful food ......... as always! This fabulous place is always consistent. The staff are just wonderful. Thank you guys: you are just AMAZING!!! Would highly recommend!
Very average experience all together. I choose the degustation menu. I was certainly expecting a lot more in terms of creativity. There is a lot of good restaurants out there with great chefs that do a lot more. I hate to say service was not good, however in a restaurant of this calibre (or how they present themselves), getting the first dishes without even getting our wine order.. big No No. After dropping just over $700 for 2 people (plus of course a very decent tip for the average service provided) definetely not coming back. I won t put 1 star because I think is harsh and the restaurant has been open for a long time now, so I don t want to be rude.
Athmosphere and restaurant decor is good if that helps...
Great atmosphere, fantastic service but unfortunately the food can only be described as you will need an acquired taste to enjoy, and the ten of us were unanimous on that opinion.
Sadly, very excited to finally dine here, but it was a huge let down. Service was okay, as we waited with empty wine glasses all night. I asked the waiters for the key dish and was advised the spatchcock....found it very boring / average as to was the steak. I'm a long term Melbournian and wont return, as my guests of 5 commented how tastless the food was...
It was really plain in taste. Didn't got what was expected from an Italian restaurant. Have been to some Italian restaurant which have their classic n unique Italian taste.somewhere felt was having eggplant in tomato sauce. May be you could try other dishes, not sure about these.
The food is spectacular, all the staff is very nice and they cater to children. It's in the posh area of Melbourne so of course it would be expensive, this is why I give it 4 stars but other than that. You should try it! I recommend it.
I can see their existence with a corporate buyers that are happy to waste money, but this is far from what the good restaurant needs to be. Meat quality was harrendous (old beef), and their wine list hardly had any reasonable wines under $100/bottle. What an unimpressive overpriced restaurant.
Wonderful experience of this place. Great food options you can see here. I came here with my husband on his birthday celebrations. Such a very comfort place to sit and enjoy some time here. We had great time. Their services were very quick and friendly. Staff was polite and welcoming. We both were impressed from their brilliant work. Definitely give them 5 stars!!!
Food does definitely not meet price value ratio. $70 for a notorious 600g chicken leg? (which felt like less than 200g...) - then go to Grossi. Besides that I don't have to complain about service or the entrees we had... all in all - still too pricy and you get better value at another good Italian restaurant in Melbourne ;-)
Nice setting, nice staff, polite, attentive with some humour. The food was good but not outstanding. Wanna be fine food, success to some extent. All dishes were interesting though. The two that stand out by far were the special (some pasta dish) and the cart of cheeses. Home made bread was very good. The grissini, however were not on part at all. Would I go back? Probable not as it is a little over priced for the quality. But overall a nice experience.
Unfortunately, our dinner at the The Grill at Grossi Florentino was a waste of Friday evening and almost $500 (between 4 of us). Following the My Kitchen Rules scoring, most of the dishes were 2-4 out of 10. The absolute winner was The Tuscan Bean Salad, which tasted like canned beans with some dressing; I d give it a 1 out of 10 just for the effort to put it on the plate. The only dish I can score above the average was Tiramisu, but the presentation was awful.
The service wasn t great either. We felt abandoned. I understand that Friday night might be the busiest time, but waiting half an hour for coffee was way too long.
Had a lovely dinner in Florentino. Free glass of champagne on arrival and a birthday card. Chose the grand tour - six plates with matching wines each more delicious than the last. My favourites were the oyster and mussel starter and the chocolate souffle. We had a nice surprise course of ravioli and finished with coffee and truffle. Some biscotti and coffee beans as mementos. Great staff well organised. Forgot to ask for some of their sourdough starter. Next time.
The food is sublime. The staff are fantastic. If you have food intolerances, I highly recommend Grossi Florentino for a relaxed night out. Our waiter listened carefully to me, checked any ingredients with me that may be of concern and provided delicious alternatives for any course that was problematic. It's the first time in a long while I have eaten out and been able to sleep soundly with no repercussions afterwards. Thanks Grossi Florentino.
Food was good, a tad overpriced I thought. Service, the restaurant was not busy on a Thursday night, service was slow with drinks, one grating thing that is just not good is having to ask for the empty wine bottles to be removed then leaving empty beer bottles on the table. Poor for a restaurant charging these prices, lift your game!
First time visiting Florentino (Monday lunch). Impeccable service, always attentive, polite and friendly staff. Nice ambience. We did the tasting menu and it was very flexible where they even substituted in some of their specials. Food was very pleasant.
We popped into Cellar Bar for dessert, we ordered Cannoli, omgosh how disappointing! The shells were over cooked, each one varied in size and they were "soggy"
I took 3 Russian visitors to Florentino's tonight, people who are used to fine dinning. They where highly complimentary about the attendance of the staff , quality of their meals and the all round experience. Congratulations Florentino Staff. Job well done.
Amazing food. Really some amazing stuff, Italian and related you need to think how they did it (soft egg yolk ravioli, cracked peach shell bubble dessert), great wine. One star off as inflexibly expensive (food alone starts really at 150 pp) and slightly slow service but a fine dining experience indeed, especially if slightly 'snooty' but very proper service is what you want. Not really a relaxed place at all but not trying to be. Serious food.
Went here expecting a lot and is most certainly delivered. The food was delicious. It felt like such an authentic experience dining upstairs in what could have been the Sistine Chapel. Such a great setting and the wines the waiter recommended matched the meal perfectly. Thanks!!!
It has been 25 years since I last ate at Florentinos . So today I decided to take my 22 year old daughter here to celebrate my birthday ! Simply Stunning :) Service impeccable Food Amazing . Nothing really changes . Very Classy :) I won't be waiting another 25 years it was Delicious . Loved seeing Guy and his wife mingle with their customers . So genuine so classy . Loved it .
I'm no expert on Italian cuisine, but I do have.a hungry stomach and a working mouth,. We ordered the duck and the prawn pastas, taste was pleasant, but the portion size was very small, only entree sized , a few mouthfuls. Paid $70, pastas were $28 each and orange juice $6.5 each. We left hungry and went elsewhere for more food. Overall food cost to prepare at home would probably be less than $10, so we paid $60 for service. The cooks in the open kitchen weren't even italian, looked Asian.
One of a kind. Just wow! Loved every second of the dinner. Service was amazing. They know everything about the food from where it s from, how it s cooked. Everything. Very impressed
Revisited after almost ten years and the food and service is still impeccable. Incredible to sustain such a level of quality year on year. The wagyu rump was among the best I have tasted.
Dinner for two, 6 courses plus premium matched wines, plus two glasses of wine and a cheese board - $793. Don't go to this restaurant. They offer nothing special and are WAY overpriced for what you get.
The food was literally a 3 star level. The oyster we had lacked taste (aka, not that fresh) and the rest of the dishes were just uninspiring. The wine was a 1 star experience. European wines are generally less tasty than our amazing Aussie wines but that aside the sommelier was astonishingly miserly with the pours. The price we payed was at the top of the market, yet he skimped on the wine. I should have been bathing in the stuff!! Annoyingly, our miserly pours preceeded each dish by about 5-10 minutes (EVERY time), so that meant the wine was pretty much gone by the time each dish arrived.
It was just poorly timed, poorly sized and not good enough for a $793 night.
We accepted the offer of a 'glass of sparkling' before starting the food and then we accepted a 'cheese board with matched glass of wine' before dessert. These additions raised the bill from $600 to $793.
The service was classy, but I think the floor staff were really let down by the poor timing between the wine and the kitchen.
This restaurant is bad value. If you're looking for something that will delight then don't go here. Find somewhere like Circa or Taxi which will be better value, more generous and WAY more interesting with the food.
I've been coming here for almost 20 years and seen it evolve into a well oiled machine with wonderful food and a great spirit that's become an icon in Melbourne's restaurant scene.
We ate at the Cellar Bar and i had looked up the menu online before and had my heart set on basil pesto pasta. Their in store menu didnt have that pasta so i asked about it. The waiter said it was not always available however would whip it up and make the pesto for me. It was absolutely delicious soft gnocci and the pesto was amazing!
Grossi is a famous chef with great reputation. However, his Grill downstairs is out dated and well overpriced. the dishes were lacking the fine detail. the meat was over cooked. would expect much more from a master chef
