Great staff, good food, cosy atmosphere.

Great staff, good food, cosy atmosphere.

We popped in for Breakfast, and enjoyed ourselves. What stood out most was the excellent staff, and the obvious 'locals' that streamed through the door.

The menu was decent, and the meals we had were prepared well.

Breakfast portion sizes are reasonable, but I can't say it was a 'filling' breakfast. That said, I was adequately satiated. The coffee was fantastic.

It was really good fun to see the 'locals' coming in for their regular breakfasts. The staff all bantered away in Italian, making the place feel warm and welcoming.

The service was prompt, polite, professional and 'fun'. Which really 'made' the experience.

Grosso Florentino is well worth a visit. Overall, a good experience.

Great service from professional, courteous waiters who do not write anything down (always a good sign) , food is very flavoursome. Extensive wine list. Can be a little slow between courses but is understandable given place is always full.

Tables a little close together, no white linen, rather smallish servings and a little noisy the only drawbacks

Actually really great place to sit and have Bellini's in summer, or winter actually. Haven't been inside yet so can't speak for the food but I'm pretty sure it'll live up to my expectations. Service is impeccable, can't fault it.

Horrendous service and mediocre food. So overpriced for what you get. I really don't get how this restaurant managed to get such good reviews. Food was too salty and below average to begin with. We asked for the bill to the waiter who was serving us at the end of our meal and he brought the pos machine over to our table. I was about to tap on it myself but he took my card, tapped on it himself, and basically threw my card back on the table. Okay what just happened? How incredibly rude. I've been to many restaurants in melbourne and I have never experienced such a ridiculous service. Absolutely disgusting and unbelievable. If it helps, all the other staff were nice except for that obnoxious waiter.

Upstairs. Degustation.

Upstairs. Degustation.
Service was up and down depending on the person. Some confusion and lack of information about the meals. Serves of hors d'oeuvres were disproportionate for three people... half a cracker, tail end of a cucumber. Served after we had finished our champagne, around the same time we were finally presented with the menu. Bread was over baked (crust like a rock) and inedible except for the inside. Food overall was very small portions and verging on bland and uninspiring. One tiny oyster in a clump of salt?! Two tiny pieces of bland, less than al dente 'ravioli'? Chewy, lean 'wagyu'? Ho hum souffle. Italian wine selection that was at its turning point?
No. Sorry. I was not impressed at the food, the wine, the service (including odd comments) or the atmosphere. For $300 I have enjoyed far better food and dining experience at several restaurants elsewhere.

Excellent food presentation and flavour for octopus rabbit and capretto. Risotto nice though rice a tad Al dente. Suckling pig a little fatty. Nice accompanying wines. Well presented amuse bouche and finishing palate cleanser. . Overall, you pay for presentation, service, artwork and ambience. Somewhat overpriced.

Went to the grill downstairs and ordered the basil pasta which I struggled to eat. The good service, nice decor and high prices seems to try to cover the fact that the food isn't that great. Can get alot better food for a fraction of the price. Good on them for giving me my money back when I complained though.

I'm not sure how they have managed to get such a high rating. Went there for a dinner and got super disappointed with their food. Their signature rib eye steak was well made - but out of such a poor quality beef. Sorry but that's unacceptable for the price tag of 140 bucks.

We had the most delightful lunch experience. As always we were greeted by well mannered and well presented staff. The love Italy menu was delectable and its offerings were all so tempting that we took a long time to choose. We recommend the veal saltimbocca alla romana and agnello brasato was mouthwatering.
A special mention to Maria who took our booking and was warm and accomodating, as well as a very special mention to the waiter Michael who was not only efficient but friendly and always had a smile. It is very good to be asked how we are enjoying our meal. The venue is always relaxing and continues to have a great ambience. Love the music!

We ate at their Cellar Pub. It was suggested by a local, and we were glad to have followed up. They made their own gnocchi and their lamb pasta was exceptional. Plus, our wait staff team were very helpful. If in Melbourne, go!

Fantastic! loved every aspect of grossi especially the solmoliare, really a lovely experience. Will say as a chef myself where is the salt on the dishes? Food was great could nit pick a few over cooked items by seconds literally other than that highly recommended.
