You really should have reservations here. The community table has high bar type seats which are ok for me but just don't work well for my wife. The food is excellent and you will pay for it. Almost everything comes with some type of grits which for me is a good thing. They are very creative with the many ways they flavor and prepare grits.

My friends and I came here for Sunday brunch. We absolutely loved it! I got the chicken biscuit, and my friend got the shrimp and grits. Both were absolutely amazing. The bacon grits were to die for. I will definitely be coming back here!

Wonderful atmosphere and decor and an absolutely great food selection. I grew up with grits and this place made me love them in whole new flavors. This was also my spot for New Years dinner and did not wait long for anything that evening despite how busy they were. Fantastic place!

We made reservations but were seated 45 mins after our reservation time. We were 3 families excited to try brunch here. Owner or manager named Paul, was very rude and attempted to seat our sweet 5 year old little girls, at a separate table 6 ft away! This is after the restaurant capacity ban had been lifted. In total we were 6 adults and 4 little girls. Paul was incredibly rude! When we asked that the adult and kid tables be pushed closer, he initially downright refused. Then, he made a comment Oh, so you want the tables on top of each other ? Ok. We left in that moment and will never return. We spend at least $400/500 on our weekly family brunches and we refused to spend our money here after the encounter with Paul. We urge you not to visit, especially if there are brown or black people in your party. We just don t understand why he was so rude.

You don't know what grits are? Are you scared to try them? Have your first experience with a southern staple here. This is where first timers and visitors from "off" fall in love with a dish that can be prepared in a huge variety of ways. Surely you will find one you love.

We love the restaurant and until recently loved the bar. Unfortunately the quality of the bar staff has plummeted in the last month. Extremely poor service by disinterested and rude bartenders. Such a disappointment!

We absolutely loved our experience here today. The flight of grits were amazing. My husband got the fried oysters and shrimp with a pickled collard slaw salad and collards on the side and I got the omelet with a side of jalapeno cheese grits. I loved the peach sweet tea! Everything was as so amazing. We are both so full and happy. Our server Colleen was awesome. We will DEFINITELY come back!

Excellent and creative grits. Fantastic ambience. Overall good, friendly service. One star deduction for a lack of consistency in food. Have ordered steak medium rare come out perfectly one time and then scorched to well done on another occasion. Will still go back and stick with the grits.

By FAR the BEST brunch to date! Staff was attentive and knowledgeable;) The food is everything it sounds like it will be and MORE!!! Compared to past experiences felt they were reasonable prices as well. With their level of quality they could probably get away w raising the prices on their dishes.

Grace and Grit is the epitome of new school Southern by a chef raised on old school Southern. Chef Frank is a genius when it comes to preparations and use of local classic ingredients. From fish to shrimp to Frogmore stew to cheese grits. If the food doesn't draw you in at first bite then an immense selection of Bourbon and wine will definitely keep you coming back. Love it. 15/10 would recommend.

Great place for dinner. I was skeptical about trying the different flavors of grits, especially the brussel sprouts but the brussel sprouts were really good. Atmosphere was great, waitress was great. I will be back again.

Never even got to taste the food but don't expect these people to do their jobs correctly. Was told it was going to be a 30-40 min wait. At about 45 min I inquired as to how much longer and was informed it would be another 20-30 min. At no point were we informed that the wait had been extended. Upon saying we couldn't wait the teenager that was working there just stated well next time you should make reservations. For a higher end place I would suggest getting experienced hostesses. They were unapologetic and I personally will never return and I will inform others about the pathetic excuse for customer service this place gives.

I sat it the "kitchen" table. Great fun to watch the kitchen in action! Excellent friendly service, and such a selection of dishes. Hard to choose! And the 1st time I ever had sweet grits! Peaches and Creme and coconut creme grits. Who knew! I'll be back. Have already recommended to clients and friends!

Everything about this restaurant was fantastic! We were in town for an event which was cancelled. The owner, staff, food and bourbon selection were all over the top! Thank you from the Bourbon bros of Columbus Georgia.

The service was good which is why I gave it the 3 stars that I did. The food wasn't so great. I've been to many nice restaurants in the Charleston area and even though the atmosphere and service are nice there's nothing about this food that makes us want to return.

Excellent dining experience. Seasonal soft shell crab appetizer with Korean slaw was very good. Everyone at the table commented how good their dishes were...whole red snapper on smoked Gouda grits, collard greens; shrimp with the succotash...filled with boiled peanuts, tasso ham, corn, butterbeans, field peas; and pan seared fish with citrus butter, bits of house made bacon, roasted beets, sweet potatoes. We did not try dessert. No room! The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant is a little noisy, bustling with energy, but I did not mind it. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience! And the cherry on top...it's on this side of the bridge!

Creative menu. Good service. Grits with everything. I had blackened shrimp and fried oysters with grits. It was good for a change of pace. One of my dining partners had the sweet tea porkchop. I tasted - wish i would have gone for the pork. So all in it was good - just dont see a need to leave Charleston to go there again.

FABULOUS!!! Pricey, but well worth it. The Fried Green Tomatoes were delicious. The Shrimp and Grits were the best I've ever tasted. Fantastic service by wait staff and management, and great atmosphere. We had a party of 4 and were very well taken care of. Proud members of the "clean plate" club! Terrific place!

The food was interesting and wonderful! We ordered the grit sampler which was a lot of fun for the table. Our servers were attentive and knowledgeable. I loved how they had refreshments in the entryway for those who were waiting for a table. Loved this place. We will definitely be back!

Grace & Grit is always a pleasure. Get in early or else there will be a wait, it's popular for a reason. Their food is always top notch. It is a little pricey but, given the quality of food, it's worth the price. Their chicken biscuit is amazing and so is their peach tea. They have many different options for grits so, if you aren't from around here, this would be the place to go for that. They serve different juices as well, which is a nice touch. Service is always prompt and kind. I haven't gotten the chance to try their mimosas but, they look fantastic. Would highly recommend going!

The food was top notch as was the service. But, who has ever heard of paying extras for hushpuppies. Oh I know why. These were not "hushpuppies" but sweet round syrupy corn balls. Not hushpuppies.

Loved this place.meal was terrific and the service was spectacular! Visiting from Georgia and wanted to try a place unique to Charleston. I had the chef special of eggplant grits, fresh green beans and mushrooms, with the golden tile fish (amazing) and pickled tomato and cucumber relish and a swathe of carmelized onion! Plus we had a side of the best succotash I have ever tasted! It was all great!

I ordered the Snowy Grouper special. I was told it was the spiciest dish to ever come out of their kitchen. It was the blandest thing I ve ever eaten. Another member of my party ordered the same dish. Same thing. On a heat scale from 1 to 10 it was a zero. The waiter didn t seem to care.

I'm not a big grits person, but what that chef did to those grits should be illegal. I had the fried chicken on a bed of red rice grits and collard greens in my opinion the best dish in Mt. Pleasant.

Sadly this place does not live up to its unique and attractive exterior. Went to the bar while waiting for a table; I had to wave down one of the many bartenders to get a drink menu because none of them were paying attention (or simply did not want to give us a drink). The bar tending staff was quite rude although the drinks were decent. As for the food, the sheep's head fish was flavorless, but the shrimp was good. Overall, too mediocre for me to return here for the price point.

First time customer.
Blackened Flounder was very bland. Not sure where they got their seasoning from, very tasteless. Very over priced for the quality.
Would not recommend!

Cool little place near Shem Creek offering a wide range of unique grit choices and other (mostly) seafood dishes. Sat at the bar for happy hour which starts one hour prior to dinner service and the bartenders were wonderful. The parmesan grits were great, and the peel and eat shrimp appetizer was some of the best-cooked, freshest shrimp I've ever eaten.

This place is so great. Their happy hour is extremely generous for what you pay, and if you have the opportunity to have Ruth as your tender, well, it's your lucky day.

Don't sleep on the basil brussels grits - out of the world.
