Excellent food but small portion.

Best Bloody Mary I've ever had.

Best Bloody Mary I've ever had.
Great food. Great atmosphere. A great place to dine with friends or a date night.
Very nice great food, never thought I'll enjoy grits with wine
Great atmosphere and service. The food is delicious!!
Great southern cuisine and hospitality. Hostess, server, and FOH manager were all very nice. Will be back
Had the succotash , frogmore salad and the Jerk Scallops with coconut grits. Seriously incredible food with the friendliest staff around. Couldn t recommend this place more!
Very good food. Had the omelet and bacon grits, both were excellent. My wife had the shrimp and grits and that was very good. The service was also very good. Will definetly be going back.
As you can imagine, they had grits and they were very good.
Experience could have been better manager told me I had to pay the entree I wasn t satisfied with plus the replacement meal. What kind of customer service is that. The restaurant needs better side options without pork. Other than that the server provided excellent customer service and chef was helpful. I don t recommend this restaurant to others save your money.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and very friendly staff. This place is a must go if you are in the area.
Amazing atmosphere. Definitely the place to be (make reservations). I made reservations for 8 as we were celebrating a friends birthday. I mentioned in my reservation if they had a cake, etc, that would be great. The manager called about 2 hours before our arrival to say they didn t have a cake but they could present a beautiful dessert to the birthday girl. Sounds great. Unfortunately, the dessert never arrived at the end of dinner. Disappointing. On our way out I mentioned it to the manager and he quickly took blame. No biggie. He introduced himself to the birthday girl and after I mentioned she d be there 2 days later celebrating, he said he would def make it up to her with dessert that night. Nope nothing again. It s the small touches that make a difference. Aside from that, dinner was good. Grits are great. Going back soon!
6 people, 6 clean plates. We all loved it & the service ( Sarah W.) was excellent. First visit for 4 of the group. We celebrated 3 birthdays and the staff held the presents for us as 3 were Large
Best new atmosphere. Food's out of this world. Can't get enough of this place.
Try the grit sampler before entree order to get an idea of your choices. Fish was well prepared. Wait staff was delightful, but any staff were slow to welcome in absence of hosting staff and was not that busy.
Make sure you make your reservations. The food is outstanding. Enjoy your dining experience
Amazing food and highly knowledgeable servers who know the menu inside and out
I have never been disappointed here! The food is great!! Also check out the Grit Counter, right next door for awesome lunch options!!! The atmosphere is warm, relaxing and comfortable. Great spot! Ooh, and Sunday brunch typically has love music outside. Very kid friendly!
Great food!! The wait staff is hit or miss. John is excellent, others not so much.
We have been going to Grace and Grit for a little over a year now, and it never disappoints. From the food to the service to the management, it's one of our absolute favorite restaurants - so much that we had our rehearsal dinner here on November 8th. We could not have chosen a better place. My mother suggested it after we went to dinner here, and she worked with Ellie to make the night incredibly special. All of our guests are still talking about how incredible the food was, and a good many were northerners very skeptical of grits. Ellie and the chef also developed a special appetizer that symbolized the blending of two families and two cultures. We do not currently live in Charleston, but we visit often to see my family, and we never make a trip home without enjoying a meal here. A huge thank you to Grace and Grit for making our night so special!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Who knew you could do so much with grits. Had the pork chop with red rice grits and collars greens. Amazing.
Omg! The food was to die for and all the staff was so friendly. I was on vacation but if I lived there I would go as much as possible.
Loved the cool, comfortable style atmosphere and the food and service was awesome.
The grits was yummy! Great idea for a Charleston / Mount Pleasant restaurant
Tried the shrimp and grits was not impressed, sat in the left side patio. Kids runing arround without parent supervision until management got involved. I'll give it another chance and maybe try another dish.
Great atmosphere smart decor and excellent lighting omce the sun dips down. Drinks were very well crafted we had Martinis and Manhattans. The wine list was also varied and well priced. We tried the grit flight which included sweet grits and savory. I'm a convert, sweet grits especially the coconut grits were amazing. We both had fish entrees and the preparations were both excellent. I loved the chef's blending of the traditional southern kitchen with modern American culinary sensibilitiy. The fish was fresh and perfectly prepared. We didnt have sides or dessert but they all looked great. I would recomend this place to anyone seeking a somewhat casual yet high end/ high value Charleston dining experience. Especially recomend the seafood. Awesome job guys. Will be back.
Loved the cuisine and the staff couldn't have been more professional. This is not to be missed.
First time here- great place! Frank and his whole staff were outstanding. Some of the best fresh fish in the Charleston area. Look forward to going back !
Jerome
Great atmosphere and service. Food is beyond amazing. Haven't had a flavor of grits that I have not liked. The specialty drinks are also a must try. Weekend brunch or anytime dinner this place is a great choice.
Was at their first brunch today! Absolutely wonderful can't say enough! The Johnnie cakes were to die for can't stop thinking of them!
Good food, bring your wallet. The grit sampler was different and nice. Something savory {Brussel Pesto and Pimento) and something sweet (Preached and Cream and Blueberry). The menu is very interesting and Chef Creations flavors worked well. More
Literally the best grits I've ever!! Ever!! Had... And I don't usually like grits they are amazing!!
Wow! This was one of the luckiest finds I ever made while scouring the Google Maps Restaurants tab. The food here is delicious, and the staff is extremely kind! Every element of the meal was perfectly executed from the appetizer (Flight of Grits, highly recommend) to the entrees (seared salmon special, delicious and filling!) to the desserts (coconut cream pie, uber-smooth and perfectly sweet). We took home lots of boxes, but we were so interested in what the menu had to offer that we wanted to order at least one of every course! Essentially, if you love grits or even just southern food, I highly recommend Grace & Grit for a filling and delicious meal.
Amazing food, great service. The food is as good as it looks.
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, STAFF VERY FRIENDLY!
Nice enjoyable atmosphere
Great atmosphere and great food...really creative dishes that were very delicious.
Took my parents for dinner visiting from Philadelphia. By far their favorite meal of the visit. Seafood was fresh and amazingly prepared. I myself devoured the hush puppies and still am tasting the old bay vinegerette . Would definitely recommended to local or visitors!!!! Service was on point as well.
Fabulous food! Didn't think I would like all the flavored grits but I did, especially peaches and cream. Waiter, Collin, was ON POINT!! Great atmosphere and all over fantastic experience. Oh, and order the peach sweet tea and if you're so inclined, add a little peach . Shrimp and grits, delightful. Coconut cream pie even won over those who don't normally eat it. Oh my. Thank you for a great night for our slightly unruly but still tasteful group.
This restaurant was wonderful!!! The specialize in gourmet preparation of Southern dishes; especially the different flavor of grits. I had the "red rice grits".
Loved everything! I can't believe I all of my portions!
If you want coastal comfort food of the lowcountry this is a great choice. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to go with a quality, filling meal. Awesome interior design. Prices are what one expects in Mt Pleasant coupled with service one expects in this type of restaurant.
The service was excellent, however the "kitchen" was not up to par. Some of our food was served cold and 3 of the 7 orders were plated with the wrong sides. Not quite what we expected.
Service....Awesome!
Menu....Outstanding!
The Food.....OH MY! So Good!
We came here tonight for a late Valentine s Day and will not be back. They do not cater to vegetarian/vegan or any special requests we learned the hard way. I explained I needed sides I veganized and was told cauliflower and succotash would be no problem. The cauliflower was nothing but creamy base and cheese which came out first. I gave that to my husband. He ate that - basic mistake no biggie. Then we were served the succotash. It had pig in it chopped finely.
I was done. I wanted nothing else. But our waitress she told me some salads would be fine - so I told her just choose for me. She was very sweet and asked me to please choose but at that point I just wanted out of there.
Our check came and we were asked to pay for it all except for the succotash with the pig. Looking at the ticket, there are no red flags instructing the kitchen to make the veggies without sauce like requested or the succotash with no meat like we spoke of and she said could be done without checking with the kitchen. In a busy kitchen, dietary requests must be made on the tickets - not verbally. I should not have been served those dishes. We will not be retuning - Charleston has too many great locations that think outside the box and are happy to accommodate requests.
Food was okay. I don't think my palate is smart enough for this place.
Great food, great service, beautiful restaurant. Went for brunch and it was wonderful.
For brunch we got the Shrimp & Grits and Corned Beef Hash with a couple of spicy Bloody Marys. Everything was fantastic and the portions were very generous. Great value!
We discussed Grace and Grit on our last trip and since it had the word grit in the name, my wife just knew it was the place to go as she loves grits...
We stopped in on a Sunday morning and enjoyed mimosa flights, and bloody Marys skiing with a delicious breakfast.
It happened to my birthday and my sister in law was with us and it was her birthday... They gave us complimentary champagne!
Super service, fair prices...
Highly recommend this place.
BTW, they have a separate entrance with a grit bar. That seems to be for the breakfast crowd, not the drinking crowd.... :)
Amazing food! Fun and Colorful mimosa flights. And if it matters their bathroom was pretty cool
The service was outstanding and so was the food. We celebrated 4 birthdays and the cost for 5 was a little under what I expected. They brought a slice of chocolate cake(I believe our wait staff said that was all they were allowed to give to one table....ummmm). This was okay because only two wanted the cake.
Amazing experience! Chef Frank and his team out did themselves. As a general manager of a upscale steakhouse I have extremely high expectations and they were exceeded. Great option if you are looking for local fish/shrimp beautifully prepared and perfectly cooked, it's concept may be grits but the fresh seafood might be the star. My wife and MIL have dairy allergies and it is always a challenge to find them something that isn't bland or going to poison them in Charleston. Frank made them something special because of their allergies, and it was devine.
Sat at the bar for happy hour. Great happy hour food prices and half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays. The grit flight is very good (surprised that the blueberry was soooo delicious), the pork skin flavor was sweet and salty -so good, and the oysters were fresh and tasty. The fried green tomatoes were juicy and the pimento cheese was spot on. Huge helping too.
You must get the scallop entree pan roasted. Melts in your mouth. The bartenders were super friendly, as were the hostesses, and the manager on duty the night before Thanksgiving. Couldn t have had a better time and felt more welcome.
Food was Great! Loved the fried chicken on the collard greens and grits Will be back
The drinks were good and the special of the bass was delicious
Atmosphere and service was great. Food was good. I was disappointed as there was nothing out of the 5 different dishes we ordered that stood out as great. I would go back but this time with lower expectations
I must say this is absolutely some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten in my entire life. Unusual preparation, unusual presentation, excellent wait staff. You must go and see for yourself. You will not regret it!!
The place is unbelievable good, food is great and service is welcoming. Great choice for breakfast or brunch.
Grace & Grit is my go-to. It the place I love best for a reliably delicious meal. I also go to show off my town to friends who visit. The food is so unique, quintessentially southern, yet it has a flair all its own. The wait staff and chefs are amazing. I can't recommend them highly enough!
Overpriced food for a grits place..Limited menu s
Everything they say comes with the meal they up charge you for...my wife s meal was $45 for a small
Piece of fish and grits and a couple fried Oysters.
My bill was $115 plus tip... Overpriced for sure during
This pandemic... if it way NY city I would understand..Southern food shouldn t cost this much .. Service was very good and the chef was very Nice.
Very friendly wait staff. We didn't have reservations so they accommodated us and we had a view into the kitchen via a glass window. Hard working kitchen staff. Excellent service and food.
We had quite a few things, fried fish (quite alot of breading) and French fries were quite salty, almost inedible, during fish fry Thursday. Biscuits were not great, no rise and tough. The tea flavor didn't really come through in the butter either. However, Cole slaw was good and hush puppies were superb. Really neat are the many selections of savory or sweet grits: peaches and cream were great! Service was good and neat atmosphere inside!
This restaurant is amazing. Food, service and atmosphere are on point. Forget about the carbs and enjoy.
Frank has outdone himself here - this whole experience shows more of who he is and what's important to him....wonderful combinations of various foods, friends, atmosphere - it's complex yet simple, inviting and intimate, delicious, thoughtful, beautiful, casual fine dining - love love love this place and am looking forward to going back! How does one make coconut grits taste like custard? Only Frank knows all about these wonderful items on his menu. Do not miss the chocolate gnache and other ice creams in, I believe, the pecan caramel basket.....omg! Thank you Frank and staff!
Absolutely wonderful restaurant! I can honestly say I've thoroughly enjoyed every dish I've had the opportunity to try here.
This is a nice looking restaurant. The staff were a mixed bag: some were rather chilly whereas others were warm and inviting. The menu is interesting and the food was good. I do not understand how a new place still can have noise issues. Why didn't they look into that during the planning/construction? It's far too noisy when the place is hopping.
I found yet another beautiful and delicious brunch spot in my beautiful new state! My boss told me to definitely hit this spot while my mom is in town so I took her advice and went with my mom and daughter. The menu was a little smaller than I expected and I don t understand why they do not have a kids menu, but not that big of a deal. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken and Biscuit and was completely shocked at how big this dish was! It was so delicious y all I can t even explain lol. I couldn t finish. Also, I thought it came with grits and it did, but I noticed that when I paid....it was an up charge. I specifically asked our waitress if there was an up charge for speciality grits and was told no. But, when I got my bill, I saw otherwise. I ordered the crab flavored grits and they were just ok, didn t taste very authentic, but maybe it was because I ve never had crab grits! My mom and daughter both ordered pancakes and sausage and I also had two mimosas. Strong pours! Impressed. Beautiful ambiance and vibe though!
First time trying this place out. It was very crowded, but the food was good. Obviously grits are the specialty. The rest of the menu is pretty typical American standard fare.
I had the fresh Mahi Mahi and it was delicious. The other two members of my party ordered the flounder and shrimp. I tasted their food and it was good, but nothing better than you can get several other places. The service was great, and I would eat there again.
The she crab soup was so-so, but the Chef's Creation of blackened scallops with corn pudding and butter beans was delightful.
We were very excited, based on all of the gleaming reviews. Maybe this set our expectations too high. The 2 stars are only because the service was great. We went all in and ordered the ribeye steak and goat cheese grits ($38). The grits were decent but the steak was NO where near worth $38. I ve had better $10 steaks at chili s. It is never a good sign when the steak is served with a cup of steak sauce on the plate. It s like saying we know the steak is bland, so here s something to fix it . How many customers had to ask for A1 sauce before they included it with every steak. Extremely disappointed with the steak. I wish I could get my money back. The biscuits were complimentary but were also flat and dry.
Paul, Collin, JP and Hayden (cooter) are THE best!!!!! This has been my favorite restaurant ever since moving across the country to mount pleasant. The staff is always friendly, the managers are the coolest and the chef always does an outstanding job. Super accommodating to allergies, perfect for celebrations and the loaded grits are my favorite meal ever (I literally go there several times a week just for those grits).
Thanks y all for the best birthday celebration!
Been here twice recently and had great food and service both with a small 3 person party as well as a larger 8 person party.
Really nice atmosphere as well as a very friendly and helpful staff. I ordered the blackened local shrimp w BlackBerry jam along with bacon cream corn and the butter beans. It was delicious but my complaint was the portion size it was a little on the small side. The amount of shrimp was good but the sides could have been larger. For dessert we ordered the key lime pie that was also delicious. I almost forgot to mention our appetizers! We ordered the cream corn hush puppies that came with some type of spicy honey topping that made them even better. Everything was awesome I just wish that I had a little more of the main course sides. We will certainly visit again.
This is a wonderful place to enjoy food at it's finest. Creative dishes will give you many reasons to come back. The atmosphere is a blend of industrial and farmhouse. Please note, it is pricey.
