I have been a member since 2006.My 2 sons and my one daughter tried to bring their cousin to the ymca of ambler in Montgomery township on 1325 McKean road and the desk associate said my kids can t bring their OWN COUSIN and my nephew Charlotte because they were UNDER 18. This rule is so beyond triggering to me because I had to drive my 2 sons my daughter and my nephew home because of your dumb rules. NOT MINE BUT YOUR DUMB RULES. I hope you fix this rule and I m going to lifetime fitness on 375 commerce drive with my kids and my nephew and we re signing up.

For some reason my more detailed post would not show up publicly, so here is a short version.

Pool, locker rooms and courts are good and clean. Majority of staff are very friendly. Gym facility is very much lack luster for a variety of reasons.

I recommend for casual/beginner lifters or elderly. If you are a power lifter, cross-fitter, Olympic, or athletic based lifter I do not recommend. Some trainers are good some are not, use at your own risk.

Not the place to become a member if you re serious about powerlifting or weightlifting. The staff is constantly getting on to me for either making too much noise or because they don t have a clue about certain assistance exercises. My son and I are still here only because it s good for my wife and daughter.

This place is terrible! They seem to have some kind of prejudice towards which kid gets a band and which doesn't. They require a huge test just to get a band to go down a slide that a life guard is going to catch them at anyway. Also, they make the kids wear floaties even if they can swim and their parents are right there. The test is super hard for these kids to take and almost impossible to pass. However, they will give it to their buddies kids. Also their demeanor is less than professional and at times rude. I will never take my kid there again. Even for a nice place the ppl are making it ugly.

Out of the YMCAs in the area, Ambler has the best swim lessons for babies and kids. Instructors are engaging, friendly, and have fun equipment (much much better than Roxborough and Abington). What's most important, they actually teach and my kids have learned more here in just 2 classes than they learned in a whole session at Abington.
The instructors of toddler gymnastics are fantastic too, and the music teacher is very sweet.
The building is new and clean, and has 3 indoor pools -- one for kids, one for laps, and one for aqua classes. Family locker room is comfortable with individual changing rooms so you get privacy while changing -- no more running half naked around the locker room to catch my toddler.
The outdoor playground is a pirate ship, so fun! Tons of parking too.

On the downside: as somebody mentioned, the entrance is poorly designed. The place where everybody has to scan their card is tight, and folks are coming and going to exit or to go to the gymnastic rooms/child watch/bathrooms, all through the same tight space. It doesn't make sense, specially considering how big the lobby is. Also, why in the world do they only have 4 tables, if the space is so big?

Still, this is the best Y.

I have been a long time member at the Y and am very happy with it. Compared to pricey other gyms, the Y has everything that you could want and at a lower cost. I do not see a reason to be a member anywhere else.

Lovely facility. There is no shortage of exercise equipment or classes to take advantage of. The indoor track is a great feature although some don't follow the rules and there's no one to enforce them. Family locker room doesn't seem well thought out but serves it's purpose. Warning: The showers in the family locker room are one temperature which is scalding hot. Staff has always been perfect until I was recently treated to a rude encounter with one young manager that not only couldn't clearly communicate what the problem was but also made no attempt to apologize or make up for the misinformation and mistakes made by his staff at the desk. He treated me and my family like we had done something malicious from the moment we scanned in, only to find out they had actually charged us for something we didn't need and couldn't use. And still we were treated like we did something wrong. Got my kid's hope's up (thanks to the misinformation), was treated like an unwelcome guest and denied access to facility even if we'd paid even more money. And here I thought the Y was Christian based.

Great place to bring my kids and nephews plenty of things to do for kids and adults but we especially love the pool I can take my kids swimming all year round because it's also heated, and if I'm not up for getting wet I can go play basketball, workout, lift some weights or just go for a jog around the track upstairs, I recommend this ymca if you hAve kids or even if you dont. You won't be disappointed

One of my favorite places. This facility has a huge parking lot. There is a full olympic sze lap pool, an exercze pool that has all kinds of classes, & a family fun pool. The latter 2 have warmer water than the lap pool. For an extra fee, there is an outdoor pool in summer. BMany classes & activities are offered & there is a walking trail upstairs, a gym with basketball court & a room full of exercize machines on the first flor. There is also a nursery for kids while a parent is in class or the water for a small fee.

Wow, this place is gorgeous! Only visited the pools as a guest, but the baby area is impressive. A gentle sloping bottom and separate area for kids who can swim. Our neighbors with young kids drive an extra 20 min to go to this Y, I stead of the one that's closer.

Outstanding facility and staff. Many classes offered, best to avoid peak times if you want specific machines or space in the pool. Membership is pricey, particularly when the outdoor pool and many classes have an extra fee.
