I had a procedure done for which I called before the procedure and ask what the fees would be I was quoted the same price as what my surgeon quoted me. On the day of the surgery I paid the Anethesia cost up front which I received a receipt for. A month later I received an outstanding balance for $3750 for a procedure under 2 hrs. I was quoted $1000 and paid $1000. How do you send me a bill for $2750 more? What billing code was put in to charge me that much? I have had 3 other major surgeries performed in major hospitals and have never paid nowhere near that much.
My wife had her procedure done once in October 2020 and the anesthesiologist was good. However, Compass Anesthesia Services Group filed 2 duplicate claims with 2 different dates of services to her insurance despite the fact that the procedure was done only once on 1 day. As a patient, it is hard to understand the claim but we have to spend our time to clear the other duplicate claim for the identical amount and procedure. You should know better how to do your job right?
I had knee surgery in August. The anesthesiologist was awesome. I have a few limitations because of a rod in my spine and a VERY low tolerance to drugs and anesthesia and she was very attentive to my needs and I woke up from surgery without feeling clouded for a week as has happened in the past..HOWEVER, trying to get needed paperwork from their billing office has been completely and utterly frustrating. I've called and left repeated messages at literally every extension over the past 6 weeks and as of today I found their website and will attempt to contact them that way. Its been 2 full months. Getting a SIMPLE receipt with CPT codes on it should not take this long. Its not like we have a choice when we have surgery as to who will be the group to provide these services but maybe if you know ahead of time that it is going to be difficult you can plan ahead. EDIT: Interestingly, shortly after posting this I got a return phone call and the sweetest person (Danielle) confirmed my info and sent the needed docs within 2 minutes. Alls well that ends well.
