We went on mother's day. We enjoyed seeing the animals, however we couldn't find anyone to tell us where a certain animal was, or any information. The kid at the information booth pointed for us to ask someone else who wasn't around! When we went to get a snack, the kid at the counter said "we're only serving chicken strips right now, just so you know" then walked away. Ummm, that's actually what we wanted.... The bathroom was smelly and dirty. I've uploaded a photo. I certainly wouldn't go back or recommend this place.

Went to the 6PM LA Zoo Lights. Very crowded. The parking lot started to fill up an hour before opening. The pre opening line was huge, but moved quickly once started. The lights are amazing in their quantity and quality. Lasers and animation were used to great effect.

It's fun

Me and my family love going to the zoo. Definitely recommend the annual pass. We love the animals and the trails, especially on those gloomy days. They have very nice perks and discounts for all the annual events such as summer nights and the L.A Zoo lights.

Honestly, it's not a big zoo, I come from China, there're lots of zoos couple times bigger than this. But L.A. zoo's categories are awesome, a lot of animals come from different parts of the world. I can tell they all in a good condition. I rode bike from Culver city to Griffith park meeting my friend there, and she has a membership card, I remember it's 40 dollars per year. So I didn't pay the ticket. We got there at 10:20, avoided the crowd. Don't forget to bring some snacks, water and sunscream. Great experience here.

I won't be bringing my kids here again. My child, under 2 years old, was asking why all the animals were sad and why there was garbage all over the place. I couldn't come up with an answer other than they need to try harder and do a better job. It was depressing, and we have not had the same experience at other zoo's in Oregon and California. I expect more, the kids expect more, and its just in the way of caring for the animals and keeping it clean enough that you aren't stepping on garbage on the paths between enclosures.

Lack of organization ... from the moment you enter you don't know where to walk is like a maze you walk a lot you get tired and there are not many animals ... food area does not exist I only saw a factory of churros it looks ugly and dirty it does not feel like buying anything there ... I expected something better Los Angeles zoo ...

As a grow single male the Los anAngel zoo is not a fun place; unless, however, you like watching caged animals be bored with life and an endless barrage of loud parents and kids with strollers not knowing want direction to walk, then you'll have a blast here.

I saw maybe one or two staff members; I don't know if that's important or not but some guy, whom I assumed was hired to help assist with the shuttle services provided by the park, thought it would be a good idea to walk directly between me and another staff member I was having a conversation with I guess as a show of courtesy.

If you like walking around drinking over priced beer while being disregarded and watching animals (the few you can actually see) sleep then this is the place to be.

meh

Overall a great place to take the family and spend a good 4-6 hrs walking the large grounds. Hours are 10a-5p, seemingly everyday of the yr. This zoo is definitely at least as big, if not larger than many other big city zoos. Although they perennially have a few exhibits closed, the vast majority are open and stocked with great animals. Below are a few tips:

Fantastic Zoo!

Fantastic Zoo!
Have yearly pass...Stop by once a month.
Friendly staff, clean and organized grounds, great special events and exhibits.
Love Christmas docor.
Fantastic selection of critters.

The Los Angeles Zoo was a fun experience for our family! We enjoyed the various exhibits very much. I noticed that the zoo's designer must have had the public's best interest in mind when considering the layout of the zoo. They have placed so many of the benches for resting in the shade. That is just a nice touch! The exhibits were clean as was the walking paths.

The petting zoo in alone is worth it. The Safari tour or tram really just is an easy way to get around. It's not really that informative at all. If you don't mind walking, it's better not to pay for the tram and just walk it. The various shows are great.

Cool..

I would have given this a perfect score, if it wasn't for the lazy under staffed ticket windows. That's the only complaint I have. The rest are great experience , wonderful place to visit, to relax .Friendly staff and relaxing experience. The food are okay. The other complaint I have is how unexpectedly fast they close the lair like 30 mins before 5. Beside I am not coming back here for a long while.

Surprisingly good zoo. Everyone said to drive to San Diego to go there. I have been to San Diego already so thought we might as well try the LA one instead. It was fantastic. Healthy happy animals, clean well maintained exhibits. The only real issue was the lions have a tiny enclosure. The animals look healthy, but you can't help but wonder how much better they'd be with a bit more stimulation.

The LA Zoo is a great place to bring the family or even just to hang out for a few hours. We're members here and we love having access to special events where they open early for members to enjoy Halloween or special feedings for the animals. My three girls (ages 4,6, and 8) all love watching the animals hang out and sometimes catch them during their lunch feedings. They have lots of areas to sit and relax, or even for you to bring your own food in and have a picnic.

Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Walking around the hills are great exercise, but can be tiring if you're not used to it.

I love this zoo. The giraffe and elephant pens are probably the best. The lions definitely need more space. Also, be sure to plan ahead if coming during covid19 restrictions. The zoo's process for getting a reservation for members and the process for normal admission are both confusing and aggravating. You may come and end up not being able to come in.

Great place to take the kids to get them out of the house on a fun educational trip. Reccomend getting the yearly pass this way if you dont get to see everything you can come back as many times as you need to, and you can bring along a few of your kids friends to enjoy the experience and it free
