Great Plains Regional Medical Center Review

Had many E.R. visits and multiple surgeries at Great Plains. Majority of the time was treated with respect and quality care.

Very poor ER service. Gave me the wrong medicine for my illnesses treatment requirements. Did not have my Doctors phone number on file. Claimed I was breaking the law by trying to contact my Doctor. Changed my prescription without my or my Doctors consent.

Good service. Always doctor on duty. Closest regional medical center.

If you have VA benefits and the VA will pay don't go here.

Very dissatisfied with this hospital, staff and Dr, Robert Worden. My daughter was sent there after being seen at a Dr's office for severe dehydration and UTI. She is covered under my husbands insurance but as soon as she mentioned she was in a Rehab they totally discriminated against her. She had been throwing up since early Sunday morning (unable to keep any fluids down) they told her they couldn't do anything for her and that she wasn't dehydrated nor did she have a UTI, after just being referred from a Dr. office. Really!!!!!!! Plus, they told her she just needed to drink more fluids. She threw up while she was there and the Dr. told her that giving her an IV with fluids would be of NO HELP! I thought they took an OATH, apparently not this Hospital!

So took our daughter 2.5 year old in at 3am for vomiting. She had been throwing up since 9pm off and on, now it was dry throwing up cause she had nothing else to come up. All the staff was great except the er dr I'm sorry we had to wake you up from sleeping. She acted like we take our daughter in every other day to a dr. She may have been to the doctor's office maybe 5 time her whole like.....

My husband went to ER there and they immediately start asking him if he had acid reflux he was having burning in his chest and down both arms to his thumbs. They kept him overnight and then released him 7 days later I rushed to Amarillo TX VA where they said he had heart damage and sent him to BSA Hospital this was a Friday Monday he was having open heart surgery 4 bypass and a valve replacement. Good thing I took him else where or I would be a widow.

This hospital employs the most unprofessional and incompetent people.
I don't care if I'm dying; take me to ANY hospital except this one.
Also, the registration's office should be completely replaced.

I recently took my teenage son here to be treated. He had a temperature at the time but wasn't even given tylenol. No tests were ran, no flu swabs or anything . It was a big waste of time.

Cafeteria NEVER has enough workers. GM never works a shift to fill in. Come on HR>>get a clue hire someone who leads by example and that can run a kitchen and manage his people...

Horrible awful hospital beware! I went in for something simple and was released because i was perfectly fine and has to return when I experienced extreme pain and they found I got a bladder infection within 24 hrs that is not just had luck that is a had hospital that creates sickness!!!

Verbally abused today at Dr Robinson's office by Dr. Robinson. He was offended I asked for a physical exam of my lungs and ears. States medical school doesn't teach physical exams any more... SMH

Thursday I went to the Urgent Care in Altus as I felt like I was getting sick and achy. The staff at the Urgent Care was very courteous and I appreciate their care. My illness did get worse before it got better. Have been in bed with a fever, and a horrible cough for the last 3 days. Today, Tuesday, I head to Elk City to go see my family doctor, Dr Michael Robinson. I requested that the nurse asked him to listen to my lungs today along with looking in my ears because they were bothering me. When he entered the room he came in full of attitude telling me that they don't do physical exams anymore, that's old medicine. If I wanted a doctor that practiced OLD MEDICINE he would refer me. Then he educated me on what they teach them at school, they do assessments by communication with the patient. Well during his verbal abuse to me I was in such shock that I was dumb founded on how to even respond. His arrogance, God like authority, and complete uncareingness to the needs of his patient sitting in front of him made me nauseated. He was so full of himself in that moment I don't know if he even realized that the patient sitting in front of him, me, was threatened by his tone and body language. I left that office upset with myself cause I allowed that man to disrespect me like that. In my mind I was horrified at his nerve, but my voice was silenced by the dictatorship in his voice. I knew he was the doctor and at this moment I felt like I couldn't stand up for myself. I recommend nobody see Dr Michael Robinson for healthcare

Quick, friendly and efficient care, doctor and nurses were very compassionate and treated us with respect to our concerns.

I'd take my chances and drive myself to OKC hospital before i would go to this hospital.

It's like 6 am I go in because I have a hole in my tooth an can stand the pain an get told they don't do teeth not only that but also everytime I go here it is bs iv had my head split open an gushing blood an ended up waiting 2 hrs just to see doctor or when they put IV in they miss like 7 times this is the worst hospital ever

This was the most disturbing hospital I have ever experienced , unprofessionalism is a gross misiunderstatment of the staff at this facility this instillation needs to be shut down! I am shocked that these providers have not been sued for causing fatalities there goal is clearly not to reduce the chances of them .

Elk city,My home town for over 10years. Been using this hospital for a long time. I always knew most of the staff was rude. But come this is really ridiculous. When your rude stuff and ladys that answer the phones don't want to give you the time of day, it makes the whole hospital look bad.

My mom was admitted over night here last night & she never wants to come back. She has been in other hospitals & THIS rates the worse . There are NO face clothes or towels in the bathroom in her room. Theres NOTHING to hang her coat on, she was never given a hopsital sack to put all her belongings in. I brought her a face cloth from home so she can wash her face this morning & brought some plastic bags to keep her stuff in. There was no type of hygenes given to her IF she wanted to shower. (I'd have to bring them too) The board in the room still has YESTERDAYS DATE WITH YESTERDAY NURSES NAME ON IT! They cant give her the medicine that she is PRESCRIBED & SHE TAKES AT HOME EVERY DAY so she will go **without** her medicine till she gets home I guess (she doesn't live here) She was never given them "hospital non skid" socks that most hospitals give. I brought her a normal pair but she couldn't wear them on this floor, it'd be too much of a risk for her to slip & fall. There's NO volunteers here that bring around books/magazines etc
I brought her a "word search" book from home. Anyone that comes here that DONT have family here or someone to being them stuff they NEED they will be absolutely MISERABLE in this hospital until they leave. There's no extra gowns or nothing in this room! There's room for a family member to stay over night with your loved one but you got to bring your OWN pillow if you want one, I asked for one last night & NEVER got one so I had to roll up my moms coat & my jacket & MAKE me a pillow. We will NEVER COME BACK to this hospital No telling HOW MUCH they will bill insurance for this stay. Unbelievable

Doctors in the ER agree very rude and don't help with your problems. All 3 times I've gone they have been very rude and won't look into the reason you are there. They would rather send you home with pain meds then actually try to help

This WHOLE facility is a BIGGEST joke Elk City has to offer. Their employees are here for a pay check, nothing more nothing less! No morals no respect! The local urgent care was 100X S better unfortunately they saw I needed more attention and referred me to the ER. HERE, this certified lazy dip sh** just looks at me and sends me home.. Now he did say I had a UTI which for me those come and go WITHOUT pain, whatever is wrong w/me now is more painful than all natural (no meds) child birth!! Which I have done 3 times, there just ain t no way... I hope some day these ppl don t have to refer back to employees like themselfs for help, for they deserve far more, but I would never wish this treatment on anyone....

Worst excuse of a hospital I'm ever had the misfortune of having I'm my hometown

This place was the most uncomfortable place to go to. They treat you very badly. Especially the doctor that is a female in the ER unit. I would not advise anyone to go here. She literally told me I didnt look like a sick person. I will not be returning to this place EVER. I would go to Clinton hospital. I went to the hospital in the morning in elk, then walked out do to the way they were to me. Turned around and got help from Clinton. They were so much more gentle with me. It ruined my whole day.

Why do people come here? The people are extremely rude. I can't imagine the health care they give. Ratings don't lie.

The maternaty ward here is awesome but the ER is not one you want to go to. The emergency department nurses and doctors are rude as heck and do not do there jobs correctly .

Dr.Teel is a very great ENT,He s been treating me for many things over the past few years and it would be very upsetting if the hospital shuts down his program...plz keep Dr.Teel s program running for the community s sake

I Took my mom to this hospital after a fallen injury they told her nothing was wrong and just gave her prescriptions that did no help, we later then went to Cordell hospital which was 10 times better then this crappy hospital. Cordell helped her out a lot better, took X-Rays, gave her shots and gave her prescriptions that actually helped the pain. I give Elkcity a 0/10 and I recommend going to Cordell which I could proudly say is a 10/10

This ER never gets busy. They are so rude and uncaring considering they have NOTHING else to do with their day. Took my kid in for the flu because urgent care was full and suggested that I took him there. The "doctor" came in and just looked at him and says. looks like he has the flu or something like it .Didn't bother testing him or giving him a note for school. No wonder there's so many people getting the flu. Careless doctors.

My 87 year old grandmother, who is in a wheelchair, was sent there by another hospital because of lack of bed space in ICU. She had pneumonia and the flu. She was also placed on a ventilator. When she came home she was frightened and had bruises all around her wrists around her abdomen and her inner thighs! She said a nurse had put her knee on my grandmas stomach to hold her down ! My grandmother could not have gotten up if she wanted to! We are filling complaints and reporting it to the police and anyone else we can to insure this doesn t happen to anyone else. They also tried to talk my mother into agreeing to a DNR over the phone!!! What kind of people treat people this way?!

Some of these reviews are so unbelievable they are hard to believe. Trust me they are most likely the truth bc I too had an unbelievable experience at this hospital. I am not going into any details now but my experience will be told and heard. IDK what kinda people they hired but they are not professionals for sure. I have also been misdiagnosed for two serious medical problems by doctors in this town. You can check the State Board of medicine web site to see what doctors have been reprimanded and for what. I have also experience one very good doctor. Where do they get these doctors from?? Looks like you get them from the bottom of the barrel and scrape the sediment ( sludge) from the bottom and get the ones who have no business practicing medicine. I will be reporting my experience with this hospital to every institute they have accreditation with and the State board of medicine. When I go out of town for good medical care and tell my experiences these doctors already know what goes on in this place that you call a hospital. Its pitiful.

I have a daughter who has 76 food allergies. She has frequent outbreaks and occasional trips to the ER after using her epi pen. They have always handled the situations quickly and made sure that she is ok to go home once the flare up has returned to a baseline.

I had my daughter at this er twice in the same week I kept getting different answers first time they said it was strep throat then the flu the next day I had to call 911 cause my daughter was having trouble breathing come to find out she had phounmina the dr had the nerve to tell me I had her there to many times if they would of done their job in the first place she wouldn't of gotten worse

Most horrible experience ever. You shouldn't even get one star. My fiancee could've died and no one seemed to care you sent him home knowing that he had a stroke

This is by far the worst facility I have ever been to. Staff is rude and arrogant. If you have an appointment you might as well plan on getting in an hour or more after your appointment. This place should not be allowed to remain open.

Even though I live in the area I avoid going here unless I have to. The ER takes 4 or more hours no matter the severity of the emergency. There has been only a few rare times that me or who I am with got a Doctor that actually examined the patient and did their job. Most of the time they make you wait only to walk in, say it's nothing, then send you on your way. I have had both my kids there and I've also had a surgery there. Thankfully nothing serious came out of my experiences there, but there are some nurses there who are rude, and cold. Every hospital has this issue but this was to the point that it seemed like them coming and checking in made you feel like a nuisance. When they had to help me with anything they didn't hide that they were irradiated, very impatient, and pushy. From what I've seen and heard it's rare if you have great care while your there no matter what you are there for. Most people drive to Clinton or Sayre hospitals.
