We went there as part of the wine tram and had a completely underwhelming experience. We had the distinct feeling that Grand Provence doesn't actually appreciate the wine tram crowd and felt unwelcoming. The tasting was by no means cheap and only included their budget wines, which were all pretty horrible. We ordered a meat platter which again overpriced and under-valued. My suggestion... give this one a skip.

Wonderfully manicured wine estate with some great sculpture pieces in the garden area. Terrible service, sat down at the wine tasting & were completely ignored, waited 10 minutes & decided to leave. Very pretentious, what a shame. Maybe got them on a bad day.

Would not recommend for wine tasting, plenty of better options in the area. The tastings are very overpriced and the samples very little. Also the Angle's tears range can be bought for cheaper at the stores than on the estate? Very disappointed that they rip clients off like that.

We had a terrible lunch experience at Grande Provence Deli! After a long wait we ordered food at 13h05. At 2pm the waiter came to tell us the kitchen is closed and we can only get pies!! Or got to another restaurant. We refused, and eventually got something to eat near to 3pm!

I called at 15:10 and ask if we can do wine tasting and they told me they close wine tasting at 6pm. When we arrive the lady who received me just told me the wine tasting close at 5pm. I ask her i just called and they told me the wine tasting close 6pm and all she said is i don't know so i ask her, if one call who pick up the phone and she told me i don't know
So i called the number it come through to the restaurant and Brandon made a plan for us. Brandon told me about the amazing oyster and champagne special and i said we want it then he got back to me and said the special is close we cannot have it. How disappointing to the lady who received us that does not know anything till a special is presented to us and then we could not have it. First time visiting not a good impression.

My wife and I visited Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate in October 2016. Ordered a supply of their wine and had it shipped to my home in Florida. Just opened a bottle and found it to be superb as it was when we tasted it at the wine estate. Had a great tour and conversation with the employees while visiting in 2016. Will have to find a source in the USA. Again, outstanding.

The last winery visited on the wine tram and by far the worst and most corporate and unwelcoming. Ordered the MCC tasting but only served 2 out of 3 sparkling wines (for the same price) as they were sold out . Oysters served warm, almost at room temperature. Unacceptable really.

Avoid these big places and stick to smaller welcoming wineries!

Only here for wine tasting. Poor service (or rather no service). We wanted to taste at the bar, but was told to go sit outside where we will be served. We did and after 15min, we still weren't served, or even acknowledged.

Went back to the bar, and tried again. Waited another 10min.

Bear in mind, this is a R150 wine tasting!

Glasses wasn't rinsed between tastings. We had to ask for some water.
Biscuits were offered after we finished tasting.

On the plus side: very friendly service. Great tasting wines. Nice location. Clean rest rooms.

We visited Grande Provence in December 2019 for a fun family wine tasting. Lovely service, fantastic cheese, amazing wine and very nice atmosphere. We ended up buying 2 boxes of wine to take home. Upon our arrival back in Pretoria, in the mood for wine with dinner, we proceeded to open one of the boxes, only to find that the wrong wine was provided. I emailed Bernette Boonzaaier from Grande Provence on Sunday afternoon, received a phone call from the estate on Monday morning, and an email reply from Bernette the same day. Lovely people! They apologized for the inconvenience, asked me for my address and said that my correct wine will be delivered soon, at no charge. When I arrived at my office this morning, the box was already waiting for me. Now that is awesome service! From my 1st email, to delivery of my wine (no questions asked!) it has taken less than 3 days! Well done Grande Provence, you will most definitely see us again!!

We were a group of 13 people who visited GP wine estate for wine tasting this past weekend. We were hosted by Geraldine who was fantastic. Beautiful gardens, sculptures and little communal spaces. Gallery on the premises with breathtaking art, lovely nougat for sale as well. Most enjoyed the Moscato and Rose. Definitely worth the stop, even if just for the visual wonders and landscapes.

Decided to come here for a wine tour as it was recommended by our accommodation provider. It was awful, we were ignored to start with and eventually shown around by a young lad. He told us they weren t doing tours but he would take us anyway? He was not interested in answering any questions and hastily took us round some of the estate with a set patter and lots of eye rolling. Terrible! Don t go here.

We visited three wineries this day and Grande Provence was our favorite. The food was fabulous, as were the wine pairings. Service was great, and knowledgeable of the estate s history and activities.

Terrible attitude towards customers and a complete lack of professionalism. They do not have a liquor license so they charge a massive premium on alcohol consumed on the premises which is fine BUT when they neglect to inform customers upon arrival/ordering they'll still argue and get defensive. We paid our bill and just expected some sort of understanding, we were met with passive aggressive nonchalance, they're clearly not phased about winning customers back after a negative experience. Franshhoek has 100s of beautiful farms with superb wine, food, views AND service, just not this one.

Some exceptional Sauvignon Blanc (grapes from Durbanville) and a delicious limited edition Chardonnay (grapes from Glenwood in the other side of the valley - perfectly balanced). An absolute delight enjoying a tasting al fresco in the manicured gardens, dotted with some impressive sculptures...best of all, they are open until 7pm.

Amazing place to stay over during a stay in Franschhoek and the wineries! Quiet, small scale, in the middle of the wineries and vineyards, and perfect rooms! Good breakfast, friendly staff, and a great swimming pool and sun beds!

Signed up for a wine tasing at lunch. None of the wines were explained in any sort of detail and the waitress was rude and ineffectual. Had much better experiences on the rest of the Wine Tram and would avoid this place at all costs.

Owners cottage is very good accomodation in a quietly secluded part of the vine-yard. Lovely to stay in. The big news is that the restaurant is now exceptional. The chef recently changed and he is now cooking with so much love, it shows in every exquisite dish. Much better than la Petit Coulombe which is the much lauded restaurant in town.

Very disappointing. The property is absolutely stunning but the service is seriously lacking. We asked for napkins three times after our food arrived, eventually went to the counter to get it ourselves. After we had finished our food the waiter brought the napkins. We ordered the mixed cheese board specifically because it had some veggies and hummus on it. It arrives with jam instead of hummus, when we asked why they said they had run out. I said I ordered it specifically for the hummus. Waiter brought a putrid looking green paste from the kitchen and calls it Green Fig Hummus - inedible and sickly sweet. Newsflash, you can't put just any fruit or veg in a blender and call it hummus The cold meat tasted liked corned beef and the waiter ran around like a headless chicken when we ordered oysters, in some sort of panic. This place has wild potential, but the waiters are untrained and the food needs to be improved. Managemens or Ownership needs to up their game and get the food and staff to an acceptable level!

Beautiful winery, great decor and super nice staff. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations and certainly not our taste. In addition, you can't choose what you want to eat, because the only thing you can choose is a menu.

We went on the tram tour and no food was available as it was fully booked, no seating were available. Staff also had a terrible attitude and no assistance was given. Just suggested to 'Go to the other restaurant' which is very expensive.
Straight to the next stop for us at least! Disappointing after hearing such great things

Very nicely located estate. Great sculpture garden. Everything was great, but unfortunately the service is inattentive. With this top class estate, the service should definitely be improved so as not to spoil the otherwise great impression.

We went to Grande Provence for a wine tasting, beautiful farm, however our tasting was very unpleasant, and spoilt a perfect day. We ordered a bottle of MCC and a wine tasting, when we received the bill the MCC was R650 not R200 as stated on the wine tasting price list. When we queried this significant difference in pricing, the waiter was abrupt and rude in his explanation. Grande Provence s tasting room does not have a liquor license hence the higher price. If this had been explained to us at the start of the tasting it would have been absolutely fine, we would not have ordered the extra bottle. It was not explained and was just expected (arrogantly) for us to pay. Even if the waiter or manager had been professional and courteous, we would have felt better about it, but, rude waiter, very condescending manager, over charged MCC = very sad experience. Definitely won t be back.

Always when we visit Franschhoek we have to stop at one of our favourite wine estates Grande Provence . We love the scenery, the wine, the restaurant(s), the art gallery, the staff. Even now during the lockdown, without the possibility of drinking / tasting / buying wine, it is beautiful place to visit. Our lunch was great, the staff was professional and very friendly like always. We will be back soon again.
