An extraordinary Resort! There is nothing that is subject to criticism. Its impeccable and luxurious facilities. A separate paragraph for their gardens, their design and the maintenance they have is a gift for the eyes. The restaurants all of them with an ambience according to their gastronomic theme, Lucca with Italian style we loved it. Finally the difference is made by your people! All outstanding of the guests, knowing that they must do and receive continuous training. We must mention to Claudia our sweet and outstanding Concierge of what we needed, on the beach Alexander and her companions, along with Peter and Apollo in the nautical activities, Angel in entertainment and many more that made our stay a 10! It serves to end the comment that I missed that there was not a pedestrian path for hiking or biking.

If someone doesn't believe Grand Velas is truly superior, I'm not sure what they are expecting. This resort (and we've been to many) is pure luxury.

Gourmet food , presentation and flavors are to die for.

The service is excellent since the workers are always at the service of the people, although the beach is not the best.

Beautiful 5* resort. As extremely impressed by the quality of the food across so many restaurants for all-inclusive - really a fine dining experience. Beautiful pool areas, decor and rooms. The beach is also white sand and blue ocean.

There is nothing negative to say about Grand Velas Riviera Maya. This was our second time to visit the property in two years and I think we will return next year as well! When we go on a vacation we want the ability to totally relax. But when we want some activity, we want that to be accessible also. Grand Velas perfects this for us.

The service is warm, friendly, and prompt. We found it to be this way in every venue of the property from the food service to the maid service.

My favorite dining experience this year was at Piaf. We ate delicious food in an excellent restaurant without the pretentiousness that can sometimes go along with that quality of restaurant.

We are already looking forward to next year!

Great resort. Beautiful. Clean. Spacious rooms. Giant bathrooms (even put baby crib in the bathroom). Room service was very good. Tons of food options on the menu. FYI, kid pool is way warmer than larger pool. Kids loved it. Service was very good. Fredy was outstanding at the pool. All of them work very hard. Smiles from every staffer. We will be back.

Grand Velas was the best resort experience I've ever had. The Hotel was perfect, the service was great, the restaurants were amazing and most importantly the views and people were second to none! I highly recommend this resort!

The hotel is magnificent, its restaurants are haute cuisine and are careful to take care of the last detail, the staff is very attentive and careful with the guests. As always we will return to celebrate special dates, as well as to take an unforgettable vacation.

This resort is just amazing. They think of every detail and I really felt spoiled. There are a ton of 'extras' like a hydro ball everyday at he pool for the kids, a singing trio poolside, trained hawks that fly around the pool to keep the pesky sea birds out of our guacamole, a personal concierge...I could go on and on.

The kids club is amazing too! Our son didn't want to leave. We had to force him to spend time with us LOL.

We will definitely go back.

Great family vacation. My two boys loved the kids club and the entertainment by the pool. Service was really pampering throughout the stay. Shuttles between the hotels were available within 1 min or less. Food was incredible, hard to believe it is an all-inclusive! Overall, a great week and I'll come back.

The food and service was excellent and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff did everything possible to make you comfortable.

Nestled on 84 acres of Mayan Rain forest this tropical hideaway with view of the island of Cozumel is the perfect Mayan getaway for you or your family. The restaurants are top notch, the rooms are fantastic, the service is superb, the amenities are perfect. There are even dedicated staff for children and teenager activities should parents want to have some adult time and enjoy high end dining, clubs, or just have a breath of air away from the challenges of raising children (I have three myself, no judgments here). This was a business trip for me but I still had loads of time to spend in their two acre pool, dine at many of the restaurants, sample superb local cuisine and enjoy many of the virtues of the Mexican culture and native peoples.

I decided to write this review before even we got to the resort we ve been there once six years ago we decided to book again this time with the kids we have a six-year-old and a 10-year-old and my first impressions just from calling the hotel reservation centre and given the details to book my rooms the treatment attention to details the professionalism over the phone is superb what really made me write this review is when I was doing the reservation I was asked if there s anyone with any allergies I have a six-year-old with a tree nut allergy I was extremely surprised that they will ask and take a note with some thing like that even before we arrive I didn t even think to mention it and that they were interested to know more about what they need to be aware of that for me gave me such comfort that I cannot describe it is very Uplifting to go to a place where the care starts before even you get there I ll give credit to the agent that I spoke with which is to his credit he was amazing

what a great family friendly vacation destination. Grand Velas and staff made a family vacation for the history books.

Awful beach with large sharp rocks prevented swimming. While the resort and restaurants were among the best we ve experienced in Riviera Maya, the beach in mid-April 2019 was unswimmable. In the course of 7 days we couldn t go into the water due to the sharp rocks and large bolders/jettys throughout the hotel shorefront. The hotel concierge and management agreed they needed to replenish the sand on the beach, but that only happens once per year in Sept/Oct. For my family specifically, we selected this resort because we love swimming in the ocean and feel our vacation goal was not achieved. It was terribly shocking & disappointing that no where in the hotel photos or reviews was the unswimmable, rocky beach mentioned. Check my pictures where at no point can you see guests swimming in the background but you can see rock formations everywhere. If you enjoy swimming in the ocean, this resort is not for you.

Outstanding hotel, outstanding facilities, outstanding staff and outstanding food. Obviously, it is expensive. But the price is well justified.

Amazing place to stay, food is over the top and service is magnificent. The most comfortable bed and pillows ever, we will go back in a heart beat! Nothing can top the experiences we ve had after Velas. Our concierge Raul is amazing, friendly and is always there ready to provide service. 24 hr room service is available after a long day stroll or sun baking at the beach. Heated pool at the pool bar is our favourite spot. All restaurants are by far the best
Food you can ever had. We love our bar tender Christian! Will give you suggestions on drinks, and will drop whatever he s doing when he sees us and will make our favourite drinks.. please give your bar tender tips and your room service attendants. Grand velas s customer service is the best. Been to all kinds of resorts and this is way on top!

It is a unique experience. Everything is super luxury. The hotel is wonderful.

Don't be fooled. The reviews on google are generic at best. The resort is old and run down. It's needs a serious update. The TV does not get the HBO and other channels listed, the pool bar is run down and looks 30 years old. The spa prices are outrageous. We had ants in our room. The French toast as breakfast was old. The spa credit was not given as described. Way to much money for to little. We spent two day previous at Xcaret and it was much nicer and better service

I recently had the chance to visit this resort and stay for 2 nights. I also stayed at 2 other resorts so please check out those reviews for comparison.
Grand Velas is considered 5-Star (or 5-Diamond which is a rating system down there I learned) because of the service, accommodations and food. They hit all of these marks well. The service was amazing, the buildings and grounds were beautiful and the food was good and often great.
Grand Velas also had one of the few semi-swimmable beaches around. The other two places I stayed were not accessible due to bladderwrack or rocks. But Velas managed to have a beautiful beach due to maintenance and artificial reefs.
The shuttles were also perfect. The were always there when you needed one, they were clean and the staff extremely courteous.
If there was a downside, I'd say one would the "cold" pool vs. the "warm" pool. By that I mean that at their main pools, there is one pool which is noticeably warmer than another. So consequently a lot of people don't use the cold one and since that one has the swim-up bar in it some folks would brave the cold water to get to the bar but then quickly jump out. MAYBE that's just seasonal (this was March/April).
The other issue was value. The next resort we stayed at, given, was NOT all-inclusive, so take that into account. But it was a fraction of the price (say about 1/5 the cost) of Grand Velas. And that resort ALSO had fantastic food, amazing service and beautiful grounds. So I'd recommend Grand Velas for sure, you'll love it. But if you want to pay a fraction of GV money, there are other options. This resort is very much 5-star and they can be proud of that.

Service, Hospitality, Genuine, Friendliness, Pristine and Exquisite were all first class.

Great resort, very friendly staff, clean place with lots of things to do. Only disappointing factor is the room-service, the staff tried his best to bring warm food but they didn't seem to have the right equipment, by the time the food comes to the room its a bit cold. Also the pizza that we ordered in the room sucked but the one at Lucca (restaurant downstairs) is by far the best pizza! So they do have the ingredients and skills just need to improve on there room service.
Hopefully they'll be able to fix that other than that great place i'd give a 7 for there excellent service, staff and the place itself.

From the minute we walked on to the Grand Velas campus, until the minute we walked off, the hospitality was "Beyond All Compare" as the hotels motto states! The grounds are beautiful, the food is amazing and the concierge service is unbelievable. We will definitely come back again! Best family vacation we have ever taken!

We loved our family vacation but there were one too many disappointments and relative to the cost, we didn t feel there should be so many. Food was excellent at two of the seven restaurants we went to and pool service at Grand Class was extraordinary thanks to the manager, Carlos. There is zero nightlife and very little music. The spa experience is outstanding. Staff are very nice and try hard but it ends up being lip service sometimes. The resort was 100% full and perhaps that was the issue. But we felt they should be prepared for full capacity. They were unable to accommodate all guests with chairs at the pools and contrary to hotel policy, people left things on loungers early so arriving after 9:00am meant no seat.

We enjoyed a week long stay and were delighted with the great service everywhere - it was prompt and courteous, very friendly, warm and efficient. Concierge service was great - thanks Rafael!
The property was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Rooms were large and comfortable. Internet service was slow and the IPTV was not working well - had to call several times to get it reset during our stay, but TV was not a priority for us.
The shuttle service was excellent - we never waited more than a minute for a shuttle.
The restaurants were great, though vegetarian options are quite limited. The chefs do make some dishes vegetarian on request, but it would be nice to have some more choices on menus and in buffets.
Zen pool area was very nice. The Ambassador area was crowded and the resort simply does not enforce its own rules about reserving chairs - too many unoccupied chairs reserved for hours while others wait for a chair.
The evening shows were varied and entertaining. There were also other activities during the day and there was plenty to do, so no need to even leave the resort, though we went out to see the spectacular ruins and beach at Tulum.
The spa was exceptional - easily one of the best spas in the world.
Overall, a very nice stay.

A really amazing place. The best hotel I have ever been to. A combination of amazing views, incredible food, and plenty of stuff to do makes this place awesome. The staff is amazing. Amazing from beginning to end. Steep price tag but worth every penny. If we are in this area I will never consider staying anywhere else. The place itself is beautiful, we stayed in one of the ambassador suites facing the beach, and was in awe the whole time. The service is off the charts, the workers here go out of their way to make you feel welcomed (be prepared to tip and feel great about it) , nd satisfied with everything. No reasonable request is turned down here. It's like paradise on earth at grand velas. I've been to Europe and live in US, have not experienced service like that in a while. It's pretty much none existing. Get your massage pool side, get it on the beach, wherever, whenever, however you want it. The choice is yours here. Top shelf liquor, good variety. They don't let your cup run dry either, the minute you're thinking refill, they're already there with the next drink. The food was spectacular. We had paella on the beach one night. Only thing to wonder as your vacation winds down at this place is "when am I coming back, we need to get back here!". I highly recommend this place, you will NOT be disappointed. Some of our friends did stay at the "Zen" side of the hotel which was a bit far from the beach, but they do have 24/7 shuttle ride available.

I visited the hotel for the fourth time and I do not feel that they have any special treatment with the clients, in fact they did not give us the room until 4.30 pm and we had to refuse the first floor because it had a musty odor. They told us that they did not have rooms available with two beds, we were 4 people, and they gave us a room located at the end of the hallway with a king bed and a cot! It really was not the best experiences we had at this Hotel and we left with the feeling that it has lost category.

Everything was perfect - food quality, drinks, amenities, beach - except one thing. Service iwas very good but occasionally slow, especially at swim-up bar. Overall - one of the best places I've ever stayed.

The excellent attention of Sebastian (concierge), Amy food and Manuel on the beach and pool was extraordinary

Food, facilities and service are all the best. It was a quiet atmosphere, so I was able to relax.
I visited it within 1 or 2 years of opening in the beginning, so the price was cheaper than now as a promotion, but it is a resort with relatively few Koreans and higher level compared to the hotel zone.
However, the activity was a bit insufficient compared to the hotel zone.
I don't know what it will be like now.
It was run by the resort, but the days and times were set, so I had to plan well in advance, but there was a time difference, so I couldn't participate right away.

As it is all-inclusive, it reminds me of the main battle, so I keep drinking cocktails between meals for 4 meals, but I need to manage my weight. LOL
You may not be able to wear the same clothes when you go out.

The food was also very tasty, but it was delicious.
Very shrimp-like rice thief... At first, I was surprised because it was too salty.
And I was excited every morning because the breakfast juice was so fresh and varied. The high price and all-inclusive reward and satisfaction haha

There were dress codes for some restaurants, but I don't know if they are still. Oh, it's going to be romantic at night in a seaside restaurant, but neither the food nor the other party can see it well. The sea breeze at night is colder than expected.

Anyway, it is highly recommended for those who choose Cancun for recreational purposes.

The Grand Velas is one of the best resorts I've ever stayed at. This was the second time I've stayed here and it just keeps getting better each time. The view from the grand class rooms were absolutely breathtaking! Everyone that works there is so friendly and very attentive. My butler Juan Luis was one of the best!

Grand velas riviera maya is a wonderful resort. We stayed 7 days and enjoyed every second of it. Our ocean front suite was beautiful. The staff is amazing always very helpful and kind. The restaurant are very pretty with delicious food and live music. The spa was definitely a plus, we enjoyed a couples massage the last day there and that was relaxing and a very unique experience. Definitely recommend staying in this amazing resort!

Grand Velas is truly an experience. The beach and property is pristine and beautifully maintained. The staff is ever present and there is never a time where you cannot find a place to sit. The best I've been to in Mexico so far.

I've never had food that I though was particularly great at all-inclusive places, but this was beyond great -- it was FABULOUS! Great service pool side, beach side, everywhere in the hotel, great room upkeep and turndown service, beautiful views, top notch personal concierge service - DEFINITELY RETURNING

CLEANING. Dirty balcony mattresses don't wash? Horrible beach algae, the beach is not as it appears on their site or in promotionals.

BEDROOMS:
- Tourists carry cameras, cell phones, tablets, there should be a desk or bureau lamp that offers multiple power connections even with European connectors. There are not enough plugs and it is very difficult to be disconnecting.

- the phone is reset every time I was transferred from the operator to where I wanted to call, very frustrating!

- the servibar service doesn't ask what people really like and could have offered better juice options.

SERVICE
- Room service hot dogs are terrible because the sausage arrives burned, we commented that to the concierge and they invited us to eat a "barbecue" from Azul, which cooled very quickly and the meat was not cooked well, they don't ask what end one wants it meat, it was red, raw and cold. They took it to us to anneal and it arrived burned. We no longer wanted to say anything, we appreciate the intention however you want.

- Spa Service, My wife returned not happy because she says she was overwhelmed since the receptionist marked her punctuality a lot because otherwise they would not do the ritual but more than anything she told her about many things that she did not know assuming she was familiar. I spoke with the concierge and he told me not to cancel the second appointment because he would speak with the staff so that they would take better care of her and calmly explain everything. I think the second time was better.

- Kids Club, when we made the reservation they assured me that my 3-year-old and 10-month-old girl would be accepted into the kidsclub but it was not the case, they marked me a lot that the minimum age is 5. They talked to Johan about the case and the She told me that if they would accept it without problems, however, on the first night of dinner at zen we had to run back to ambassador because the lady from kids club closed early and passed my baby with her brother to teens club and she was crying inconsolably bored.

Food, service, was outstanding. Pools and beach were great. Zen pool the best.Staff very helpful.

Grand Velas Rivera Maya was an incredible experience. The staff was always friendly, helpful and timely. The food was exquisite and the rooms were breathtaking. The beds are even something I miss. From beginning to end, the time spent at Grand Velas Rivera Maya was outstanding.
