Grand Hyatt Melbourne Review

This hotel is in the perfect location and near great restaurants! We were celebrating our honeymoon and the staff was very friendly and also surprised us with champagne and strawberries with chocolate fondue!

I had a wonderful stay here! I arrived and check in was easy and quick with a friendly staff member. The lobby is beautiful and spacious and smelled so nice of fresh flowers!! I went up to my room which was on a high floor with nice views of the city. My room was huge, clean and quiet!! The hotel itself is in a great location. I was able to walk to almost everywhere I wanted to go. It s super close to the river which has great running paths. There is also tons of fancy shopping nearby. The WiFi was fast and it was about a 30 minute drive from the airport. I would stay here again!

Went to the buffet for lunch. It was lovely (drinks were crazy expensive though)

The restaurant was really nice, but if you intend to take a long time eating, you'll be rushed out to the bar after a bit more than 2 hours after starting.

Professional and helpful staff made everything run smoothly both in preparation and on the day. Food was very tasty and guests had a great time.

Fabulous place and great service for the entire event.

Lovely hotel. Stayed there during the Australian Open. The hotel was quite noisey during the night though which was a problem.

I attended a work dinner at level 8. The dinner service and food quality was excellent. The hotel staff was very helpful and attentive to our request. It was a great experience and I would host in thie venues in the future

Facilities were fantastic. Just dont lose your carpark ticket as it costs half of the room night stay.

I went for my wedding night, the staff really looked after us and the room was excellent.

I've attended multiple seminars, conventions here. And have never been impressed with the food here.

Men restroom smelling, rubbish not collected at the lounge table, coffee and tea need to be included in the Sunday lunch buffet, not charged at $6.30 for an $89 lunch, poor response to vegetarian needs. Excellent seafood section and dessert options.

Nice hotel but i only experienced it attending a wedding. The entree and dessert were really good as was the service.

Great dining and environment. High teams were nice with 2 sessions.

Concierge/Valet staff were definitely 5 Star, Reservations/Front Desk definitely 4.5 Star - Thank you sincerely for your impeccable service and helpful friendly character, you were the saving grace of my visit.
However - Grant Hyatt, Just because a guest takes advantage of a special price or promotion it doesn't mean you should automatically give them one of your lowest standard rooms, in a poor position next to the lifts. This is a crucial decider for many people who may not have stayed with you before as to weather or not they will come back at full price or not - For me I feel not, full price or promotional. One example - open showers, with nothing but a shower curtain to prevent (And fail) water flowing all over a guests bathroom floor - Poor design and functionality, let alone the linen needed to mop up the water so I didn't slip for a second time.
Without question, overpriced even at promotional rates for the room I got.

Good rooms, with great views. Wish it had a microwave or something of the sorts. Beds are really good.

Upsides:
*Nice lobby
*Great location
*T2 tea
* Large rooms

Downsides:
*Things broken (door not closing, shower leaking at base and either hot hot or warm, TV not having signal)
*Very expensive
*Elevators frustrating and hard to use with card

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for just under a week. We recieved an upgrade to the Deluxe King Room. We could not fault staff on check in who were very helpful. The decor was traditional and very slightly dated in places but it added to the effect of the room. The bathroom was nice with a large bathtub and lots of light. Our room was fairly spacious for two people and which included seats and tables to eat at for room service. The view was pleasant too.

We had a breakfast at the hotel twice which was slightly pricey but worth it with the vast range of things available.

Overall the stay was very pleasant, the lobby was very grand and had a luxury feel and staff were pleasant. I d stay here again.

Staff and location were fantastic. Rooms felt a bit dated, and Internet was unstable. Not much of a view.

Genuinely service oriented hotel. It's a great long stay hotel, more than 3 days. You end up liking the place not hating it. Great variety of bedrooms, the bed linen used in the standard bedrooms feels rough and cheap, the one in the larger/suit bedrooms feels beautifully. Best view of Melbourne. Great lounge on the 31st floor, great gym. Pool and jacuzzi could be much better and use less chlorine.

The room is good but they need to bring up the level of service to show that they are indeed a 5 star hotel, the reputation that they are so proud of.

5 star. I attended a funeral. The staff could not accomodste me enough.
Only one suggestion have a tube of glue at the front desk. Countless times patrons require their heels on their shoes to be fixed usually when you are about to go to a meeting or after hours when you can't access repar shops.
Loved staying there. Very empathetic to me. One of the restaurant staff slipped a condolence card under my door. Very impressed.

Well located in the heart of the city. Room was welcoming and bed gave me one of the best sleeps ever. Decor and ambience of hotel was beautiful. Staff was always attentive to our needs. Will stay over again.

Where can I potentially start?

The staff are not bad people, they do their job but when something goes wrong, they're not willing to go that extra mile to provide 5 star service. Finding a used cigarette butt, rust stains on mirrors, mould on the ceiling and dust in every possible area, one can not find themselves coming to write a good review. They decided it would be appropriate to let me stay an extra night at the same rate (Which is okay, considering the events that shot the prices up in Melbourne that night), but really for a five star hotel, and given the circumstances one would expect more. They let me stay in the suite, deducted thousands of points from what they originally offered me, then credited a few thousand bonus points to the account. In the grand scheme of things, I was expecting a refund and an extension considering the circumstances. However they were not willing to budge in the slightest and clearly have no care in the world for your health and safety or the standards expected of a five star hotel. With plenty more options around Australia, and the world, I will probably give these guys another shot outside of Melbourne; but for now it just wasn't up to standards not even close.

On a side note, I'll give the team at desk some credit for having some patience it can't be easy for them to handle complaints when it is busy; but they really know how they can do better.

Awful!! The QUEEN bed is really 2 SINGLES pushed together. What's the point? You can't sleep in the middle without ruining your night

Grand Hyatt Melbourne is the place to be. the class the elegance the food the ambience. everything is outstanding and up to the mark.

I was lucky to be invited on Premiers Iftaar dinner. I must say it was very well organized and managed by the staff of grand Hyatt. the ball room is just perfect to arrange events from corporate to weddings

this is a must place for any special events

5 star hotel with great customer service. Clean and peaceful. Invite my family to stay here. No trouble during their stay. Very convenient walk to Flinders street and Chinatown. Thanks

We stayed there for about four days and must say it was a great hotel room. The hotel itself is a bit weird but really beautiful in its own way, just don't expect cozy but it's perfect for any corporate stay in Melbourne . The room, though, is where it's at - the bed is fantastic, the linens great and the shower too. High quality option for sure.

Great hotel, AMAZING breakfast (a tad on the expensive side)

Rooms are great we had a deluxe king, that was spacious and comfy. The AC is soft and worked really well. The amenities available was unbelievable with the option to borrow or purchase anything you might have forgotten like an Aussie hair curling iron, steamer, etc. The staff wasn't overly friendly which is okay. It is close to a ton of things in the city, however don't use Uber eats here they don't deliver to the lobby.
