The taste was perfection as always. This is a nice place to relax with the faint smell of cigar in the air. It's not overwhelming so I don't mind. My date asked for some nuts and a big bowl was brought out to us. What a waste! Of course two people will not be eating that many nuts. Weird. Oh well. I went to the ladies room to check out my hair and makeup in that flattering lighting- gotta love that!

Incredible food, relatively good wine list, decent interior, fantastic staff and service. I would recommend the Governors Club for private events or a great dinner out. Probably the best you can get in the area

I already liked it before I found the "Chocolate Shots" by the exit. Two snoots of this delectable beverage capped the evening perfectly. I was there only for cocktails, but they were expertly produced and presented by personable, engaging bartenders.

Had to wait a long time to be served, the food was good when it finally came.
We were on the 3rd floor, needed to go to the female bathroom, to my surprised it was on the 2nd floor. Very inconvenient.

Loved it. The lunch was delicious and the staff was wonderful. The variety of the buffet was great. We had three different salad, meat, and side options. The decor was nice and what you would expect of a members only club.

A solid Tallahassee tradition. Thoughtful service, accessible but delicious fare, gorgeous surroundings. Ive eaten lunch, dinner, and buffet fare here and cannot recall being disappointed once. The surroundings are also appealing and add to the richness of the experience. Seek out a member of this city club to dine and enjoy!

This private club is worth the price of admission. It's easily the most sophisticated fine dining restaurant in the Tallahassee area. The execution is generally excellent. The staff is welcoming and the service is superb.

Separate from the grill area, second floor formal dining room, and the many private dining rooms lies the lounge. The lounge itself is the most elegant lounge in town. In addition to the restaurant's wine list and the usual array of beer and cocktails, the lounge offers premium cigars. The powerful ventilation system ensures even the most sensitive nonsmokers won't be bothered by the occasional cigar smoker.

The wait staff wasn't clear on food availability from the kitchen. Settled for a dish less than I wanted, which was inedible, then found out the dish I wanted was available after all. Grabbed fast food on the way home after paying a sizable check, but not having eaten. In fairness, the staff was courteous, if uninformed. Lovely old world decor, but not what was hoped for. A disappointment....

Exclusive Private Club. Excellent food and service. You need to be a Member or guest of a member. Valet parking only.
Most major cities have such a club for the town's VIPs. This one is about average for this kind of club.

As a guest, I went to this private club year and half ago and the food and was amazing. Came back the last two weeks with my friend who is a member but all of sudden the meal was disappointing and the service wasn't good as i expected. They must have change chefs or managers because this place isn't prestigious anymore! Next time my friend and I are going to eat at sage.

We were treated to a special event with about 50 people and what a wonderful evening. I know the Governor's Club is a beautiful and tasty place to have lunch if you are invited by a member, but 8 hadn't been to an event. There were large tables with plenty of room and a waiter for each table.

It was a wonderful buffet rather then a fixed menu, but that was fine. Wonderful salad, sides, raw oysters (wonderful for me, but I know...), cocktail shrimp that were enormous and a number of hot selections. Just wonderful.

(Aside from all of this, the event was wonderfully entertaining)

We made some new friends, ate some great food and enjoyed a wonderful show. The club itself is also beautiful.

It was alright. For such a fancy looking place, I expected more. The service was pretty slow, the price was as expected, and the food was just okay. Between our large group, I don't remember anybody raving about their meals.

I got the s'mores dessert, which was hard to eat and tasted alright. The presentation and smell was great, but I'd recommend opting for another dessert.

I'd come back and give it another try, but I wasn't impressed on my first visit.

Exclusive, definitely elusive to most including myself (it is certainly an "Old Boys Club") fine dining restaurant that caters to the locally wealthy as well as the obnoxious clique of lawmakers who invade the capital city on an annual basis for a few months around spring time to indulge or be indulged by those whose insanely overpaid job it is to ruthlessly & relentlessly pursue whichever lawmaker & their prospective "bill" which they seek to influence its contents and/or it's passage or one which they intend to trash/smear by casting a less than positive spin or simply lie through their teeth to bury legislation their political party wants to do away with ....

Regardless which one of these endless scenarios the "lobbyist" wishes to "legally influence" the dinner check is, in all actuality, picked up (paid) by the incredibly naiive, unassuming or "far too trusting" taxpayer in the end, not by the obscenely overpaid 'lobbyist' .... SOOOOO MUCH MONEY is spent in this deceitfully devious yet somehow legal practice esp at this place.

Ironically, the Governor's Club is likely one of the better places to get an honest, artisanal culinary experience in a city inexplicably devoid (well, it's verrry hard to find) of any REAL, truly inspirational cuisine, restaurants & chefs. I know the industry all too well & if you get to dine here, I would bet the consensus is summed up with "it was good but not great" then again, a majority of diners during session aren't there for the food.

They're there to influence, convince, persuade, pushed, prod, trick, pressure, cajole, even bribe or blackmail (or on the opposite end) .... or quite simply to buy their way into a supposedly sacred, nation founding concept then slime their through & around any watered down oversight that managed to find it's place in this sham of a "legal process" - for shame, for shame.

Very exclusive, better know somebody that knows somebody kinda place. Food is great and service is the best in Tallahassee. I have e been twice, once with a family friend and once for a wedding reception, both times the service was over the top exceptional and the food was really great.
