My wife and I had our marriage validated by father richard and the church. My son and wife and daughter all baptized here.. It's changed our lives! Beautiful and unique modern catholic church. Even if you're not spiritual and are unsure about the catholic church I suggest you go for the message because it's uplifting and beneficial to anyone and everyone. Remember there is bad people in all walks of life, don't let the press scare you about the Catholic Church. Good Shepherd is the best I've ever been to in every way.

Love this Catholic community. It s unlike any place in the diocese. Actually I have never been to a Catholic Church like this. Love the liturgy and the priests. So many ways to get involved. Truly a place where they want you to build a deep and personal relationship with God.

WOW! GS is on fire. The men of this parish are real leaders of their family and community faith journey. Just met the new Associate Pastor at a meeting learn to keep offering more to Parish in ministry. GS is awesome place to find Christ in others.. PREV REVIEW:
I experienced Good Shepherd in a unique fashion. My parish has a very strong mission effort called Christ Renews His Parish. Men from my parish in Plano were so very fortunate to meet the Pastor Fr. Richard Ethridge, Deacon Pat, Formation Director Steve, and another 29 men eagerly seeking a closer relationship with Christ. Our weekend concluded 2/28/10. The Very soon the GS people will realize and notice the spiritual fire these men left with Sunday afternoon being given to others. Our men in Plano will be forever appreciative of GS for their open hearts and their beautiful and loving pastor. We really do not know what GS was like before, but we can guarantee it will forever be walking closer to God now based on the passion of their first ChRHP team.

Good Shepherd is more than a building. The longer I attend GSCC, the more I learn what it means to truly be part of a Catholic community. Father Richard and Father Jonathan compliment each other perfectly; and Br. Paul McMullen is a true inspiration. I've learned so much from so many at Good Shepherd...and now realize why people who think they can "go it alone" really can't. And, besides, why would anybody want to!

How sad that the person who wrote about the two aging priest misses the big picture. These are two incredible men who have dedicated their life s to Christ and to all their flock. The one (old) priest has made this one of the most active parishes I have ever know. We have so many beautiful ministries. He has also grown this church in size to accommodate its growth. He has kept us debt free. But most important through him I receive the body of Christ.
I guess things are in the eyes of the beholder. You see an old man using a cane. I see a beautiful soul, that no matter how he feels, he will make it to mass, share with me his amazing wisdom and most important make sure I receive the body of Christ.
Sorry you did not get what you felt you needed from this church and from these priest. Have you ever considered the problem might not be the priest
Might I suggest you open your heart and return and see things through the eyes of Christ
God bless you on your journey

I was disappointed to walk into the church and be confused where the "center" is, because the Tabernacle should occupy the center. I didn't see a tabernacle to genuflect to.
The shape of the sanctuary was very unsettling and confusing. The crucifix was twisted and distorted, with a split at the top that is reminiscent of a witch's stang.
The chairs and pews are arranged to all face each other in a circle, giving the impression that we are the center of focus rather than all facing liturgical "east" to focus on God together.
The church is designed in such a way that it should be fine as a concert hall, but not ideal for a place of liturgical worship.

Wonderful place. I was baptised and received first Communion here. Very nice place, been here I-don't-even-know how many times. Overall good place, nice people, you feel like you're part of a community/family. Wonderful! 5000/10 would reccommend.

I haven't been there yet but I would love to,I and my family came in texas during covid-19 and we haven't gotten a chance to go to church, how I love being a Catholic, please let us know when the church is open for physical attendance.

The young priests continue to cycle in and out. GSCC is left with two aging (75+) boring priests. One of the 2 remaining priests has frequently been sleeping during church. It has become so obvious as often hundreds in attendance are pointing and staring as the priest sleeps during mass. The other priest has to use a walker to get around everywhere and talks incredibly slow. This leads to slow boring masses that are very difficult to sit through. For years GSCC has struggled mightily with its youth program and now with no younger priests remaining, expect that trend to continue.

Good Shepherd has over 50 ministries available for those who wish to meet others, get involved and make a difference. The church offers bible studies, RCIA, Alpha, Small faith groups, social/service groups such as the Men s Club and Women s club as well as various youth organizations. Faith formation is offered at all levels from young to old. There is also a preschool ( Little Lambs) on campus twice a week. The church is very well maintained and welcoming to all.

The choir is outstanding! Child care is provided. There are three wonderful priests and four outstanding deacons. Each priest has his own unique personality and style.

Fr. Richard serves as Pastor of the church and has been in that role for years. He provides consistency for our community and oversees the business workings of our church. I prefer his daily masses which are more personal in nature and more accurately reflect the wonderful individual he is. Father Richard upholds the traditions of our church and is a wealth of knowledge.

Fr. Ron provides warmth with his gentle spirit and kind voice. His homilies offer reflection, perspective and hope. You will see him before mass greeting people as they enter the church.

Fr. Jason is our young priest. He is full of energy, connects well with the youth of our church and offers such great perspective on his journey to becoming a priest. He is real .

The church is beautifully maintained, uplifting and welcoming to all. Come join our community!

We were hoping our visit would be a blessing, but it didn t quite work out that way. If I were a parishioner here and knew how much money was spent to construct such an atrocious building, I would not be very happy. It s a massive Church, built in the Church in the round style.

My nine year old daughter said this is the most confusing Catholic Church I ve ever been in... well, it s actually the most confusing Church I ve ever been in, period, and I ve been to Gateway .

We converted to the Catholic faith three years ago and as I travel for work, I get to experience many Churches and different liturgies throughout the US. This was far and away the ugliest Church I ve ever been to. I was quite shocked as this is in the middle of one of the most affluent communities in DFW. The money they must have spent on this place is a scandal considering what they could have done to make a beautiful Church. This is anything but.

The crucifix for the procession was a cross with a silhouette of Jesus carved out in the middle, while the crucifix in the middle of the Church was a large modern art travesty where Jesus didn t even have a face. My son said it looked like they had a crucified Slenderman up there. The layout of the altar and pulpit was the most bizarre thing I ve ever seen in a Church (you truly have to see it to believe it). There wasn t a single pane of stained glass, no stations of the cross to be seen anywhere, no sacred art, no saints, and the entire layout screamed chaos . People sit behind the pulpit, behind the altar, and are clearly not comfortable having to twist their neck around to see what s going on. Of course the tabernacle is nowhere to be found. Coming in the front door (can there be a front door when the Church is designed as a spaceship?), I didn t see the tabernacle anywhere. When you walk In, you're engulfed in confusion, which is NOT what one should feel when they walk into a Catholic Church. People travel from all over the world to visit the beautiful Cathedrals of Europe for a reason. They marvel at their beauty and many people become Catholic because of the beauty the Church makes in their architecture. This Church would send people running.

The liturgy of the Eucharist was an orgy of confusion as people swarm the middle of the circle. It s not the people s fault they have to deal with such as awful layout, and they do the best with it they can.

The music they chose could have been written by the people who wrote songs for Carmen (think of the worst schlocky 80's Church music you've ever heard). When Catholics try to make their liturgical music more like Protestants, it never comes off well. Protestants know what they're doing with the modern music scene as their entire service is focused around music and the sermon. We don't need that. We have the Eucharist. Stick to sacred music and hymns which are done with excellence and leave the light show and fog machines to someone else (there aren't actual lasers and smoke machines there, but I wouldn't have been surprised).

As an aside, one of the priests chastised my wife before placing the Blessed Sacrament into her mouth, as we receive on our knees and on the tongue. He was clearly not happy about this and let her know she wasn t doing it right. This caused her to cry on the way home, but I was already so disappointed in the liturgy and the Church itself that I wasn t surprised at all that he would do that. My review is not based on the emotional response of this situation either.

I m sure the people at this Parish are fine people, but they would do well to save their money, destroy this building, and create a Church with Jesus back in the tabernacle, front and center where He belongs, and do away with this confusing monstrosity.

I am not a raddy traddy. I love the Novus Ordo, so I'm not a "Latin Mass only" guy who's just lambasting any Church not doing Mass ad orientum. It was just so disappointing to see how much money went into building such a monstrosity, especially since I'm a parishioner of the FW diocese.
