Absolutely love working out here! They have the biggest selection of squat racks I have EVER seen in a gym, and also TONS of machines, lots that I ve never even seen before! Also the energy from the other people in the room is really inspiring. There is a reason this place is legendary. Also the monthly rate is very reasonable considering how great it is!
The megga of bodybuilding. Very big, but very full, old equipment, too little dumbbells and not well sorted ... Expensive is a day pass with 25 / 30 $ also ....
Old run down location, machines are worn out and dirty, no air conditioning, gets very hot inside in the summer.
Just the energy in the place is worth to just workout in.
Last time I renewed my membership (in Oct. 2018) I was charged $749 for the year. I'm a longtime member but that was the biggest fee increase ever. Is that really the going rate these days, or did I get ripped off?
We need a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT... read the reviews on here and on yelp... every other review says how they will not let you cancel even though you have a month to month contract and they just keep billing you. It s almost like it s a game. Seriously read the reviews it s like it s funny. We will stop billing you two months later they they keep billing you. It s insane 30-40% of their reviews say this. Where s an attorney when you need one ?

As much as even my fellow gym members say they hate management. I never go when they are there so it doesn t bother me lol. I m a bodybuilder , and this is a bodybuilding gym so I love it . Thanks for making a safe space for us, can t wait to be back once I move
I have loved this gym for 25+ years!! They have the best trainers and work ethic of any gym- it's the Mecca would you expect anything else?

Hey all. First off I agree with most of the comments about the gym and how it is a very real "Old-school' feel. The few times I have visited I always love seeing the posters on the wall full of back then champions of the Hey day of body building, Yes on occasion you will see a few of the older Body builders like Arnold. This is NOT a Plush Gym. It's NOT a luxury gymn AT ALL. if you are used to that type of business establishment. This gym is not for you...Its full of inspiration and upcoming talent. its a true place for the rough to be created into diamonds.
Some of the equipment is older and the building does need a facelift. Its the same 'Old-school' look and feel from back in the day.
However Right at this particular moment. I write about something else... I am doing my part willing of writing about the conditions of the staff there. As of Today January 27th 2017. I know someone working at golds gym. He started in Housekeeping then turned into the trainer... If you are looking to work there as a 'housekeeper' or a manager. This issue might even affect the trainers there. I don't know I have not yet spoken to them. However I will write about what I have experienced through my friend working there. He was hired on August 1st 2016. what he experienced for the next 3 months was wage theft. The payroll department there for whatever reason is theft. It is a fraudulent system that does not pay on time or correctly. The pay is bi-weekly every other Friday is pay day. The first pay check my friend received was 5 days over due. The managers at that time did know that and were emailing the payroll department to fix the situation... as they were awaiting their checks as well. The second time this happened the check was over a week over due. My friend questioned the managers. The managers at the time were giving him information that the payroll department was messed up due to new classes being inputted into the system. Then the Third time this happened. He drove to Golds Gym from where he lives in the valley and physically pick up his check after the checks had been issued since the last Friday. By this time he should of been receiving direct deposits.by this time, we were already at Wednesday of the following week.
It took Golds Gym 3 months to render his wages correctly in a legal amount of time.
Its a shame that his worlds famous Golds Gym has such a fraudulent system. I watched my friend go through this and it was not fun. his car payment was over due and his rent. I know for a few other workers there they are mostly low- income and cannot sustain their well being on more then 3 weeks with out their income on time.
I had recently learned that a friend of my friend, a new hire, is now waiting on his check to be received with the correct amount of wages. This is something else going on. Its not a computer glitch as they informed my friend for this same wage theft to go on for more then 4 people.
Hopefully this payroll issue is resolved. it is a sad day when a worlds famous place has an issue so simple to resolve as this...
I would use more stronger language but I am a believer in law of attraction, therefore I am only focusing on the good parts while bringing up the part that needs attention by the correct group.

I was a customer at Golds. Right after I started working out, I noticed rampant steroid usage going on in mens room. They have two cameras in mens room and if you go through last 1 month of footage you probably will see selling and needling going on. One trainer named is the boss of all steroid dealing. He sells a lot and Owner gets a commission from him.
I was told multiple times by him to buy from him for amazing results. However I was a drug addict and sent to gym on doctors advice. So steroids were a big no no from me. Also I started convincing other buyers from him to stop usage.
This caused fury and out of steroid rage the steroid dealing trainer beat me up. I had to call cops upon him, and Police station has a file of this incident, where its clearly written in police file that police saw CCTV footage of the trainer beating me up.
Since I took police and tried to stop numerous deaths related to steroids that can be caused, the next day I was sent a termination email from Golds Gym.
I paid from Jan to June this year. But terminated on 4th March. This was a forceful termination and I was not given Money back either.
Applied for a guest pass and within 10 minutes got a phone call saying I was ineligible cause I was outside the local resident area even though I work down the street. Horrible customer service

Historic place, numerous Mr. Olympiad had trained here.
No AC, bit dirty and expensive but a LOT of equipment

Had a great experience working out here! A great gym for working out - but be careful using credit- or debitcard here. I was gonna buy a proteinbar, and they charged me 60 dollar, instead of 2.50. Luckily i discovered this at once, and they said i would hear from someone the next day that would transfer my money back. I asked about it everyday until we went home from the vacation - but they still hadn't fixed it. Now its been over a month, and im sending emails and asking every other day, but always the same answear. "Haven't managed to fix it yet". Baaad service! Starting to wonder if im gonna get my money back at all.
As an answear back to the owner here - yes ive been emailing with Jeff all along - and nothings happened. Now ive had to contact my bank so they can take this with Golds.
Very iconic place to workout at. To workout at the same place that famous body builders worked out was great. Can cross this off my bucket list.
Overall, the gym is very dirty and poorly management overcrowded with people looking at themselves in the mirror. If you want to get a good workout, look else where.
I never write reviews but this gym is a total scam. If you need to cancel the membership, make sure it get it in writing. The management will lie to your face and tell you they canceled your membership and continue to bill you.
This is where it all started by all the great Body Builders. Super impressed! You will be inspired by all of the photos on the wall, and will get a good work out. I Love the outdoor space as well.
Applied for a 3 day pass and was told that I couldn't train there because I was a few miles of the 6 mile radius. Just moved here temporary and don't have a bill to prove my residence. Which it doesn't say that on the online application or email. Wasted precious to come here for nothing. Was planning on being a member, but not now.
Maybe the best gym in the world. Very serious people inside and a lot of motivation.
If you're in to training in any capacity, you NEED to visit this place. A lot of the kit is old, it's a bit dated but there is a vibe like nowhere else. Think of your favourite bodybuilder/actor..... Chances are you'll bump in to then there. Its no wonder its called the Mecca of bodybuilding. A day pass costs $40 but I am almost guarantee you a great workout and an unforgettable experience.
Celebrities like Arnold shwarzeneger or Jean Claude van dam come here often, Arnold was actually here yesterday.
Also, a lot of different machines. This is definitely the place where you can get the body you want and you can also hire some of the best fitness trainers in LA.

Love this spot, but the $40 guest passes are out of this world. I feel this is not necessary and this isn't a theme park. Get over yourselves Gold's gym front desk.
I love this gym...it's a gym. The staff works hard to keep it clean...you have machines for any type of cardio and heavy ass weights. The benches are a bit small. But if you want a gym...this is it! If you want a spa go to planet fitness.
3 stars ONLY because the history. Dont get me wrong, much respect to the place and the legends that have went here and the location where your bound to run into the rich and famous, but let's be real. A $40 day pass? And the gym is not clean by any means and all of the dumbbells are way out of place and a set of them actually had vasoline on it or something.. it is saved by the various amount of equipment and the size of the place, but still.
It's the original, crowded but cool, with no cut on it.
This is going to be my first google review ever since I started using it. Visiting and working out at the Gold's gym is a dream for those who loves weight training and the gym perfectly does its job. I wouldn't say they have the nicest and newest equipment but there is still any kind of stuff you would need for training and cleaning staff works hard to make this space clean. I'm not huge or have extremely low fat to show my abs but no matter what size or level you are all the people there are so nice and you will be welcomed. Staff is always helpful and there for any help. Unfortunately I forgot to bring a wieght lifting belt with me but they dont have one, only dip belt so bring your own if you need it. One day pass is a bit expensive (20$) but if you are on holiday here in LA and want to lift, just go. Trust me you will love it. The best photo of the gym can be taken on second floor to the locker room.

Made for bodybuilding. Here are all possible exercise machines and weights in 3 large "rooms" plus patio. Here you will surely meet old Mr Olympia winners and other hearty meats. But most of them are regular exercisers. If you are lucky, Arnold is there in the morning and working out.
$ 25 for a pass is a lot of money but well invested!
Good dressing room with cupboards (bring padlocks). Here goes 2 hours fast!
It's a nice spot, a bit too structured in rigid rules for me, they will follow you around to see if you are following their rules! That kinda killed my workout zen, but it's spacious, nice vibe and often you will see celebrities here - I saw several fitness & body building stars here, also, the Rock & other actors & entertainment ppl!
Disappointed, it was the best Gym in L.A. many years ago, not anymore.

If you are looking for honest employee do not go there. Amanda will lie and make you believe anything just to sell memberships. Do not believe a word she said during membership process. Their 3d scan never worked in 3 month, boot camp are a joke. Besides all of that the gym is cool but I'll never get back there.

$20 for a one-off visit. Worth grabbing a workout here if you know your stuff. Gym is massive and has everything, but theres all the memorabilia on the walls and you might even see Arnie
It's a good gym for getting that juicy chest pump, I usually warm up with 405 on the incline with Mike O Tren and then blast chest and tris afterwards.
I want to love it here but I just can't. I love a hardcore gym, but hardcore doesn't mean dirty and disorganized. Machines are run down, dumbells are never put back and scattered everywhere, same thing with weight plates.It's the only gym in my neighborhood and it has totally unmotivated me on every level.

worked here briefly and left way too soon due to family issues, but i will say this, aside from me being grumpy all the time for being on prep, i cannot complain! you cant lift or work here and not be motivated! Diana was my supervisor which i prob drove insane lol but looking back at it all, it was the best experience ever. ignore the bickering comments about the Mecca..if your a true fan and lover of bodybuilding and fitness, Golds Venice is deff a must go spot to hit!
Best gym in the world. This is where Arnold works out. You can frequently see bodybuilders here. You never know, the guy you just walk past can be a Mr. Olympia or Mr. Universe. Ultimate motivation. You can learn a lot simply by watching other people train.
Lots of great equipment. Always packed. A lot of people here that take their lifting seriously.
The bathrooms are about 5 years overdue for a complete redo, but this is by far the best gym in LA
