Been going here for the last 6 years... only on one occasion have I had food that was flavourless. Otherwise the staff and the food are fantastic. If your going for glam don't go here but what Chinese food restaurant have you ever gone to that has had good food and good decor lol

I am super disappointed. I was on hold and than when they came back on the phone. She said she was too busy to make my order gluten free. Or tell me what order is gluten free. Last time they did a great job. Yet she kept putting me off for other customers... very bad customer service. I heard her taking other orders that came after mine. Than they hung up. I called back and again said she was too busy for my order.
Great food friendly staff. Delivery at times can be a tad slow because they get very busy another option isPick up that is very quick is very quick
I'm not certain why all the raving reviews. I came into town exhausted, overworked and late. I was apprehensive at first because the building appeared to be vacant of any customers now or ever but Google said they were open so I leaped at something without a drive thru. The (I assume) husband and wife were friendly and inviting. I chose two dinners just in case I wanted to snack the next day; the almond chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and the egg roll. The almond chicken I believe is actually old or has been sitting around it's literally all Bread and no chicken, very dry. Even the looks of it isn't appetizing unless you like breadding saturated with grease.very disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice wasn't too bad, very typical thick breading, eat a few and you're set for 6 months, rice lite, not heavy at all but a bit bland I could have used some salt. The egg roll was probably the best eggroll I have ever had. If the staff ( mom & pop) weren't as friendly as they were I believe I'd be more apt to give them a one rating, but I feel an immense amount of guilt writing this review because they were so nice and the place has been around over 30 years so they must be doing something right. It is highly possible I caught them on a very bad night obviously at the end of the night and they needed to dump their leftovers.. however, the items I did get were very basic and that even on a good day I believe there's a little Chinese food amongst the breading.
You better order 3 hours ahead of when you want to pick it up.... for some reason it takes that long for to make chinese food....
Fried rice, chow mein, 2 egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken balls..... thats it!!

Not happy. They use mixed frozen vegetables in some dishes. No ginger dip for the dumplings. Way to expensive! Will never take out again.

Food is excellent, service is very friendly. It's family owned and it shows. We always have the same server and she recognizes us even though we only go a few times a year. I really like the background music they play too.

IF that WAS true, did you report this to the Board of Health? Did they close the restaurant down to investigate? Was this on the news? If not, why not?
Did you eat any maggots? What did they taste like? I do not believe that you found maggots in your rice.
Had some take out from here on a week night. It was my first time ordering from here so I checked out their reviews and everything looked good. Lots of good reviews. I called and ordered three dishes. The plain fried rice, a chicken dish and chicken chow mein. They told me that I will get 10% off my bill because I was doing a pick up, which was very nice. The person taking my order was very friendly and helpful. I was told it will be about 20 mins for my food to be ready for pick up. Which was very reasonable! I was just apply and excited to try this place out after all the great reviews. 20 mins later, I arrived at the restaurant and was happy to see that there was ample parking available. They have a huge lot. The restaurant was not super busy, a few tables but mostly quiet. The guy at the counter was very friendly. I paid and left . Got home and my bf and I began unpacking and eating our dinner . Unfortunately, we were both really disappointed with the food . We are by no means picky eaters but the food was hard to eat. The fried rice was just ok but the other two dishes were not enjoyable at all. The chicken chow mein was just boiled noodles with no sauce, vegetables or any type of seasoning and plain boiled chicken pieces on top. I was expecting something stir fried or for the chicken to be seasoned . But it was just pale, plain, boiled chicken pieces. Everything tasted very bland and dry. The food was not fresh for whatever reason. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day .. but we couldn't eat much of the food that night and unfortunately it ended up in the compost .
We ordered food last night for pickup when we came in we ask for some fortune cookies the guy who is serving us used his bare hands to count out the cookies to give to us. We also got the crispy wontons and I found plastic in three of them that looks like it was deep-fried with the plastic on it.
Everyday local Chinese food. We chose because it was handy for Best Western. Big room, very good service. Lots of takeaway activity. Very large portions. Just fine but not an upmarket place or price.
A five would be given if they had inrestaurant service. They have the space. No staff.

Great food great pricing , not the best service but the waiter was clearly new so I am giving latitude on this one I am sure he will improve. Note to the Management, the supervisor could have stepped in and helped the waiter who was clearly over his head instead he watched from the sidelines.
Pretty basic American chinese food, not great but not horrible, but whatever you do, DO NOT get the chow mein lol it's pretty much mr noodles, no sauce or seasoning and small bits of plain chicken.

Only giving one star because you cannot leave no stars. Service was the worst service I have ever received. Took two hours to get the food and when we called after an hour they said it would be only a few minutes longer. The manager refused to speak to us when we called a second time after an hour and a half of waiting. The driver was extremely rude when we were only telling him we were very frustrated. In the end we still had to pay and they didn't even offer any discount or coupon or anything to make us feel better. Will never ever order from here again. The manager needs to take a serious look in the mirror and correct this service problem if he wants to keep any customers. I usually never leave reviews even when unhappy with service or quality of anything whether food related or not but I was unbelievable appalled at the service we received today.

90's Chinese food, pure and simple. Big portions, very reasonable prices, friendly staff, and the food is hot and tasty.
2 hours to get food... supposed to get 10% off for the inconvenience but when the delivery driver showed up he knew nothing of this discount. Food was average. Would never try this place again.

Changing my review of this place. Great food , but unfortunately we have had a very rude driver multiple times who has threatened us because he thinks he didn't get a big enough tip. Unacceptable. ( It's only a 2 minute drive to our place ) literally yells at us DEMANDING more. Very sad as my family and I have been ordering food from this place for over 24 years.
Service is quick. Staff are polite. Food is awesome. I particularly like the hotpot.

Awesome takeout if you are looking for something cheap and tasty. The craziest egg rolls I've ever had, they are extremely greasy and the size of your fist. If you are looking for traditional or even slightly healthy don't go here. I loved it and went a couple times.

I have been coming to Golden Lion Chinese food going all the way back to 1975 Sure it has changed owners over the years but like any Good Eat Out place that has Pride in what they Serve the Food is All ways Good and Realy polite friendly staff. I am so sorry. Golden Lion has been our goto family restaurant for 40+ years. This time the portion sizes were significantly smaller and the meal tasted off. The egg rolls were way over cooked and almost empty inside. I don't think we will be going back.

Nowadays I've discovered it's hard to find a good chinese restaurant which everything tastes good....it seems the new generation of cooks are losing their pride and more interested in money. This restaurant has improved over the years and recently we've been ordering food almost weekly from them. Our favorite on the menu was the rock cod hot pot which we ordered a few times. After the last time we ordered this, we were very disappointed and felt ripped off when the supposedly cod pieces were formed chunks of flour instead of fish. How can we trust them after this? You tell me.
Excellent Chinese-Canadian food! The vegetables are always perfectly done, the meat is so tender and the best flavor. We love coming here. And the prices are excellent.

Food is sporadic, sometime good and sometime bad....long waits, and since the pandemic the prices have gone up so much we will never return......it s always the consumer that pays for situations anymore and never the vendor as a cost of doing business.....

This restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. When I phoned, they simply said "No" and wouldn't even discuss alternative access. They lost 3 customers. I've rated all categories as poor and price as $$$$ since they obviously don't want me to know!
Tried to order for delivery. Hung up on 3 times. Tried again and asked to speak to the manager. Was put on hold and hung up on again. Not sure how they stay in business.
During this virus thing we gave it a try this past weekend for takeout. The wait for pickup was short and the food hot by the time we got home. We will differently use their services again.

I have ordered from here before and knew it was descent food. This time it was a toss up and since their website said free delivery, that was the deciding factor. I thought there was no delivery fee so I gave the driver a nice tip, after he left I noticed they charged me $3 for delivery. It isn't much but I felt ripped off. To make things worse I had the trots for 2 days after eating the food for dinner and then lunch the next day. Ok food but don't order from here unless you have an iron gut.

Worst Chinese food ever. Bland and tasteless. Wonton soup had no verges noodles just a bland broth and won tons. Chow mein had white tasteless chicken. Terribly disappointed
