Woken early am by the maids outside our window emptying bins laughing and chatting among themselves. Could not see what was going on as the only window in the room had frosted glass! Then again at 8am woken by carpet fitters banging and sawing in the room above. The room itself was dim and dark, the frosted window did not help nor what seemed like a 40 watt lightbulb.

I was happy to see my "cottage" room when I walked in the door. While the window looked only into an open area the size of a small closet, the room was very comfortable and worth the price. I arrived around 1 in the afternoon and the staff allowed me to check-in early, leaving plenty of time to walk around and take in the area. The only downside was that the tub wouldn't fill all the way with hot water on the day I arrived. I imagine the hot water in the cottages is shared between rooms. If you don't care about taking a bath, the shower would've been fine.
Perfect location right on river Ness, in the center of Inverness. Cleaned apartments, with free WiFi connection. 2 restaurant (good food served), with really kind personnel. Also breakfast is with good choice, even if not really big. Suggested.
Really the only good thing we experienced about this property was the location. The room was on the very top floor, which required four flights of stairs to get up to. Very difficult when you have heavy bags. The room was small, but tidy. Bed was moderately comfortable, however it was two seperate mattresses. We had an issue with the lights in the main area not working and the ones in the bathroom flickering. When we notified reception they said they would send someone up to fix it, however this wasnt fixed. The tv also was very small, and when trying to watch a movie we noticed the sound was inconsistent. The volume would go very low and then back to normal, making it hard to hear. We would visit the area again, but not the hotel.
Up in an attic room just big enough to swing a cat shower small no shelf for shampoo or soap , Booked a table for dinner food was a long time coming and again small portions, I didn't think I was ordering from the children's menu lol , Very disappointing Nice views from the restaurant
Despite my late arrival, and the fact the kitchen was closed, the guys still have me a meal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Food was excellent.
I don t mind staying in average hotels, but not when being charged prime rates. This hotel is made of multiple old houses where they made sure to cramp up as many rooms as possible... And of course, they are very small, and rundown.
The wall are made of cheap material with no insulation whatsoever so you can actually decipher your neighbors conversations or activities!
The beds were below average.
The bathroom was small and dirty.
Only positive side would be the free parking, which, of course, was not, even though advertised otherwise.
Reception was friendly. Our first bedroom was dirty. Carpets full of hair and lint. Couch with breadcrumbs and a dusty sofa. The hotel itself it's very old (not what it looks like on the pictures). Not that I care. But at least I'm expecting the room that I'm paying for to be clean. We complained at the reception, they apologized and upgraded us into a suite. Same problem there, dirty floors( stains, lint, hair), dusty room. It seems to me that cleanliness it's the last thing they care for. Amazing view though.
Nice and modern hotel. Windows could do with a clean very dirty. Skirting board on one side of the bed visible dust. Staff very friendly and helpful. In a great location close to Inverness town I would stay here again.
Very central to the train station and shopping centre with a beautiful view of the River Ness. The staff were pleasant and the room was very warm and homely
I booked a Riverside room and had a pleasant stay. I think the view and the bathroom we're my favorite part. Check in was nice and easy. Great place to stay whilst in Inverness as it's close to the city center.
Lovely location but our room was in cottage room 300. I would avoid this room if offered. Cold (although extra electric heater in place). Bathroom was small with shower over horrible bath. Position of shower meant that shower screen could not stop water splashing over floor. No hairdryer in room but did manage to get one from reception. Would hate staying there in summer as window looked onto picnic benches. Room shook every time someone went out door. I booked through hotel site to benefit from extras. Hotel parking, breakfast and wifi. Breakfast was good but wifi didnt exist!! Really disappointed!
Christmas lunch was about what I would have expected. Staff were hard working and pleasant. Marred by cold draft even on a relatively mild day for the time of year, need to turn up the heating.
The room was in much need of an update as was the bathroom. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special, the girls on duty could have been a bit more helpful. Don't think we will be going back.
Run down, dirty hotel. The room rattles everything, closet was full of blankets - no room for clothes, 2 rooms - light was broken in both, cobwebs in the bathroom. Towels were not replaced even though they were on the floor - simply hung up again. Staff unfriendly and incompetent - from the front desk over restaurant (breakfast) to the general manager, the complaint and photos a little interested. Absolutely not recommended!
I have given this place the chance to explain their very poor service and attention to detail, by writing to them but have not had a reply. We stayed last year and had many complaints. We were given the incentive to come back by one of the nights being 50% off. Please see photos of bed linen, shower surround, bedroom view and dirt behind the radiator. We won't be back.
The Glen Mhor is a nice hotel with friendly staff. A thing to note about the hotel is that it is separated into different buildings, so keep the map you're given at reception handy. My room had a view of three walls with a ladder propped up against one which wasn't the best, and early in the morning I could hear strange noises (maybe from a boiler), but apart from that it was nice. The food from the restaurant was also really nice.
Like other hotels in Inverness, the pictures on their website are not a true representation of the reality, as stated by others on review sites.
Upon arrival at 2pm a rude Spanish woman on reception, who was basically rude to everyone, was dealing with a compliant, (one of many I overheard here). You are dumped in a 'holding room' with other people and luggage and there you sit. Waiting 'til 3pm as they won't be checking you in a minute before.
If you think you are given a drink at this time, forget it. The hotel bar, unlike any others on this planet, opens at 4pm?
(Noticed the times of things? It's to meet their needs and not yours).
The room was a like a filthy bedsit. The carpet was grubby, so I stood on a towel in bare feet.
Old wooden and dated bedroom furniture. A crumpled lampshade. Stain down a tub chair. But the bed had a decorative throw over it although I think there are more basic needs here like shampooing the carpet.
Black hairs on and in the bed and in the bathroom are provided free of charge.
The TV is cheap (from Tescos and their brand) and then you have the appalling breakfast, thrown in a messy manner on the hot plate.
A woman aged around 60 with grey hair, lays into you if you don't track her down in the breakfast room, (she has no awareness of her duties to find you as you are the guest). You must tell her your room number and she will then have an argument with you at the table, saying rudely, "You didn't give me your room number", defending herself if you point out that she was nowhere to be seen and then she walks off to her pertch in a hump. If you think she is going to say, " Good morning sir, how are you this morning? May I have your room number..." she isn't.
Cleaverly, there is an express checkout box for you to check out. (So they don't have to ask "how was your stay" as the answer would be "never returning").
In fact I went to reception and saw said arsey Spanish woman who didn't even ask how my stay was when I enquired about checking out.
If money was spent on this hotel it would be great, but it is run appallingly.
Before Mr or Mrs or non gendered hotel manager comes rattling on here in response to this post, I have no intention of interacting on site with any of your staff as they are rude and when guests asked to see the manager to complain, they were told you were not free and would call them so I have better things to do with my time than complain to you, in person. You don't warrant any respect from me as your hotel showed me nothing.
Don't like the review?
Hand your notice in as the manager and go and work somewhere else as you don't know what you are doing.
To be fair to the hotel, rudeness is part of Inverness. People are suspicious, rude and cold we found there. Won't be returning to the hotel or Inverness, ever. Glasgow and Edinburgh much friendlier.
A great hotel. Have seen some people on here moaning about it but I found it to be very good. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I was able to check in a little early with no bother. The room was small, but I knew this would be the case. It was well decorated, comfortable and quiet. I must say that the wifi is a little patchy though!
The hotel is well located, the rooms are well decorated and the beds extremely comfortable. Only down side to this stay was that we were directly above the function room in the Waterside and the noise and vibration from the band was so bad that I asked to be moved. Unfortunately I couldn't be moved but was assured the entertainment was stopping at 10.30pm - this was not the case and it went on until nearly mid-night. I would definitely ask the location of your room before you stay, especially if you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep.
Sometimes uncoordinated. Rooms telephone isn't working so you need to run through the rain to make an order. You can't order food to your room even though it's advertised. They tell you to speak to the restaurant staff which you can't reach by phone as well. It's pretty annoying that the hotel staff is overwhelmed and not able to handle all the customers requests. They're just not enough employees in the main season.
In some rooms of the hotel the heating isn't working properly. For example no warm water in the morning.
The hotel is actually pretty nice but aslo more than a few needs of improvement.
Glen Mhor Hotel was an excellent choice, good location and car location. Small houses along the street in a row of apartments with kitchen. Vapunaatton we ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was an excellent choice. Salmon, beef cup, chicken, everyone liked theirs. Million was neat and traditional. We sat in the raised area of the back where we could dine and talk in peace. Then my room to taste a day of shopping.
The hotel is very well located in Inverness, close to the centre and several excellent restaurants. The service was good, but our room was very small and noisy, and the bathroom minimal. We were expecting more for the price we paid. The breakfast was cheap and good.
Stayed here for 2 separate nights, the rooms both times were nice and clean and the second time I managed to get an upgrade. Very good breakfast and in a very good location, would recommend.
Positive points - bed clean, bathroom clean and room cosy and warm. Staff friendly. Negatives - carpet was quite stained and needed replaced and the breakfast fry up was cold.
Rooms were small but well kept. Awesome location right on River Ness and quick walk to most of the main sights within the city and a lot of great restaurants. Basic breakfast, friendly staff, parking for our rental car. We were rarely in the room as we were out exploring most of the time so, if you're looking for a clean, comfy, place really just to rest your head at night like we did this is perfect.
The single and double rooms offer a comfy and quiet environment and a good bathtub . The free parking is also a nice to have. However wifi reception is only good in the lobby area.
Nice hotel, good parking but disappointing service. Had sign asking for room to be made-up on handle and unfortunately bin not emptied and bed not made. Also no vegan alternatives for "full scottish breakfast ", beans tomato and mushrooms. No tattie scone, poor.
I loved the view and location of the hotel. The room was beautifully designed in a Scottish theme and I would have given them 5 stars because staff are helpful and friendly. The shower was the only disappointment because it was small.
Nice and clean rooms, fair price. My only complaint is the food, for having such a dedicated space as a restaurant I was somehow disappointed, the dinner was ok for the price, although my creme brulee was nearly like eating butter with sugar. The breakfast was quite disappointing, one of the worst I had in a long time, the juice was from concentrate, there are quite a lot of options nowadays that offer an excellent relation quality/profit for the restaurant. The coffee was appalling, it isn't too hard to offer a small French press or just speak to your local coffee bean supplier, there isn't really a price argument anymore, simply terrible coffee and then the porridge was awful, really watery and clumpy, a true disgrace of a breakfast.
Older style hotel with rooms located in several different buildings. We had booked 3 rooms and unfortunately they were located in two different buildings. Hotel is a bit run down but in a great location. Restaurant and bar were good. Had to pay for WiFi and parking.
Booked a classic river view room based on website photos but turned out to be a horrible experience; the washroom was the size of a shoe box with the shower on top of the pot. Excuse given was that not all rooms are same; well then they need to upload some real pictures of majority of their rooms as well.
On check in the gent in reception was amazing that was the best part of the stay. The room I was in(810) single room was dated and in need of renovation lots of marks, chips and stains. Breakfast was stingy and small plating. Pastries provided were solid and tasted stale. Scrambled egg tasted of water. Hopefully a bad day for a hotel situated with a stunning water front view.
