World class sporting arena with great facilities.

World class sporting arena with great facilities.

The Emirates Arena is one of Scotland's finest sporting arenas. Originally built for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, this modern, impressive venue plays host to a variety of events throughout the year such as the Glasgow Athletics Indoor Grand Prix.

The arena has fantastic parking, outdoor five-a-side football pitches and a gym. The sports halls are very well lit and laid out, with plenty of (immaculately clean) toilets available. Wheelchair friendly access is available (with wheelchair accessible seating frequently in use at the basketball games).

The stewards and security staff are generally quite friendly and helpful.

While the car park can get a little crowded, there's a much quieter pick up and drop off point at the London Road exit. Unfortunately the doors at this side are usually closed (except when leaving after an event) so if you're being dropped off here you'll have to walk round the perimeter of the building. This does, however, avoid the stairs at the main entrance - useful for those with mobility issues. It also takes you past the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome - worth a peak in at another impressive facility here.

It's a great boost for sports in Glasgow and a fantastic, beautifully designed venue.

There are for courses to complete total in 6 hours cycling before you are allowed to cycle unattended on the Velodrome. Bike shoe and helmet are included in the cost of access.
