Ginger Hill Tavern Review

Good food, good people. Can get crowded on weekend nights, but dinner is great.

My college son eats here and he don't like bad food drink specials usually available and a wide variety of appetizers check out the chicken wings top notch

Awesome little place to eat at. Everyone was friendly. Atmosphere is relaxed. Menu has alot and is SO good!

It's a typical college town bar and I say that because I know how brutal studends of drinking age can be on a bar in the late hours but the food was good the service too.

The wings are really big and taste good, but G-Hill is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant to me.

This is my favorite bar. I lived here during college. All around best bar in existence.

Great place for food and drinks. It can be a college atmosphere at times so loud music and lots of college kids. Still a fantastic place to have a cold beer and really good food, especially the white pizza.

Waited for 35 mins for $1 tacos...and a appetizer. And the food was mediocre...

Food is excellent, service is okay and the atmosphere was loud.

I think Erica is very unreasonable, fails to be personable to all customers and involves herself in personal conflicts with customers on her own personal beliefs instead of being customer conscious.

The food here is decent, and everytime that I have visited, the service was very good. I have always had quick refills on my drinks, hot food, and a polite server.

I get the smokey joe burger w/seasoned fries & custom toppings generally once a week. It's 11/10!

Burgers are cooked perfectly to order. Seasoned fries are plentiful and crispy! BBQ sauce is legendary. Bun is nicely toasted. Everything is seasoned well. Price is fair too, coming in around 10$ -ish. Honestly I think it's the best burger I've ever had.

I've had plenty of other foods here too (wings, salads, sandwiches, beer, etc). It's all good! Highly recommend!!

Almost always busy on the weekends. Karaoke night on Tuesdays is always fun. Locals tend to flock here for a good deal on delicious chicken wings of any type of flavor. Often has deals on draft beers in large quantities for a reasonable price. Must be 21 to enter after certain time on weekend evenings there are bouncers at the entrances to make sure of this

Not a good bar. Too many people. It Smelled and did not have good air flow.

Owner is the rudest person ever. A complete jerk. Way too overcrowded on weekends. Slippery Rock needs a bigger,newer, and less sloppy bar but the owner is on the board or something and blocks every other bar from coming to slippery rock. GREEDY GREEDY. I d understand that if Ghill was actually a semi decent bar.

It's the happening place in Slippery Rock,Pa. Mostly very respectable college students, Some older crowd too. DJs often ,good music, it's a happening place all right! Also have a very nice out door patio and plenty of parking.

My roommate and I got food from Ginger Hill and it was great! I highly recommend the food and take out or eat in. The only downside is that they forgot part of our order when delivering and we waited almost an hour for the rest of our meal...we only live 3 minutes away. We called multiple times and the line was always busy.

My husband and I live in the area but we had never tried Ginger Hill. The good things about the restaurant; The waiter we had was very good. He was friendly, good at his job and took very good care of us. The food was very good. We had two friends with us and all of us were pleased with the food. The bad things; We got to the restaurant at about 5:30 p.m. the first thing we noticed was the very, very, dirty condition of the sidewalk all around the restaurant. We had noticed this before and is one of the reasons we had never gone in. Second, When we sat down the booth we sat at was really not clean. There was a layer of grease on both the booth table and seats. This is something that comes from not being cleaned properly over a long period of time. The paper place mats were also stuck to the table due to the grease.
On the way out of the restaurant I touched several other booths and they had the same problem. The restrooms were also not clean. Because of the time of day we were there and the fact that The University is only on summer population these problems should have been non existent.

Cleaning and sweeping up the front of the restaurant and taking way more care in the inside cleaning would go along way to making this a really nice place.

We all also noticed with all the T.V.'s on and music playing over the other speakers it was difficult to hear each other when trying to talk.

Tasty food & cocktails, nice staff, good management make a winning combination.

It took over an hr for our burgers to come out. 30 min for our appitzer pop tastes nasty horrible service

Visited this tavern on a recent saturday evening. Ordered a ham/pineapple pizza-it was the worst pizza I've ever eaten, without a doubt. The 'crust' was so thin and soggy that there's no way the pizza could've even been picked up. WAY too much cheese, it dominated the entire pizza and was so stringy I was afraid I would choke on it. My husband ordered the fish sandwich-horrible as well. When he cut it in half, half of it was missing the fish inside! It was just the breading. My 15 yr old son ordered a cheeseburger- never has he ordered a cheeseburger anywhere and left half of it on his plate. College bar or not ... I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone for a meal.

Good food and its a decent bar for being the only one in Slippery Rock.

My husband and I went for dinner, we both enjoyed our Filet Mignon, both cooked perfectly to temp (a rarity at most places we dine), so juicy and tender we were able to cut with a butter knife! Service was prompt and kind, definitely will be going back

Pleasantly surprised. Food was really good. Prices reasonable. Portions are big, at least to me anyway. The fries were my favorite. Our server was super friendly.

Located in the heart of Slippery Rock and SRU, Ginger Hill Tavern was chosen as the restaurant to celebrate my Wife's birthday. Good food. Nice sized portions. Wide selection of foods on their menu to satisfy the whole family. Patio out front for those that enjoy dining outdoors. 3 things kept me from giving more stars. 1st, My Wife ordered 2 drinks. Neither of them were available. 1 was a slushie and it wasn't frozen yet. The other was a Pomegranate Martini which our waiter, Jeff, told us should've been taken off the menu because it's not made anymore. 2nd, the booths are VERY uncomfortable. After 10 minutes I found myself adjusting to ease the back and butt pain. 3rd and last, both restrooms were in less than clean conditions. Dirty, holes in the walls, broken handles on the sinks, BIG roll of toilet paper not in the dispenser but balanced on top of it. I compared notes with my Wife and Daughter and theirs was much the same with the addition of messages scratched into the stall doors by who I would guess to be college patrons. It must be tough to keep up with repairs and maintenance but it is necessary otherwise the message, "go ahead, treat this restroom like $hit" is given and patrons will continue to trash it like they do. None of these were a deal breaker BUT the overall experience could've been better with these issues resolved.

Foods OK and service is hit and miss. This business was designed to get college kids money.

Wing Night is the night to get the best wing's around

Wonderful service, all employees were very pleasant and accommodating. Food was delicious and filling The bloody Mary was out of this world good!

Everyone has a positive attitude even when wearing a mask. The bartender is so sweet and the food is fantastic.

We really like this place. Just a friendly sports tavern in a college town but the food is great. Better than your average tavern food.

We stopped in before a performance at SRU and had a really nice meal! Aaron was a really good and friendly server and my portobello sandwich was excellent. I haven't been here in a long time, but will definitely be back.

Ordered online and picked up food. When I got back to my house which is less than 5 miles away from the restaurant, I opened my food only to find my sides missing and the food cold to the touch. Very bland and tasteless, I will never be ordering from this place again.

The food CAN be good, the drinks CAN be awesome. But if you're not "one of the locals" the service CAN get pretty bad.

Decent place to drink if you re in college. Prices could be better. Do not recommend going here to eat. Bouncers are rude.
