50-50 on the food, server didn't seem to care whether I was there or not. Good luck if you go there
Great food awesome staff sweet pretty and the order and service was on so if you around peen state gigi's is the place to have a steak
Delicious food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Turns out it was so good that some items on the menu weren't available though! I'll be returning at some point
My new favorite place. Great food. Superb service. Delicious drinks.
This place has potential. The decor is nice, and it looks like it would be nice to sit on the outdoor patio when it's warm. However, they need to lose the pretentious attitude (and maybe that was just our server, because I thought the hostesses were friendly). I ordered a burger done medium and the server informed me that the burgers could be cooked at "anything but medium." I asked why that was and he explained it was some special type of meat. Ok... Never heard of that but whatever. The fries were a little cold and tasted a little stale. The beer was excellent (hazelnut porter). I thought the menu was a little pricey for what was offered but wasn't a huge deal. The biggest advantage to this place was that we didn't have to wait after the football game to get a table. Might give them another chance based on that alone.
Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was amazing. This was our first time here and I told my wife I want to make this place our new go to restaurant. It's that good.
Awesome food and great atmosphere..brunch was outstanding... looks like a great place to unwind after a long day at the office
Family attempted to set up a private party at Gigi's. Emailed the address listed on their site and waited close to a week with no response. Called in and was given a different email address by staff which I also messaged. I didn't get a response to either message. It's now months after the fact and I've gone with a different venue that responded to my email within a day. Still haven't heard back from Gigi's. It's an unprofessional establishment and not worth your time.
Edit: It was my Mother's email and she messaged the email listed on your site for private parties. When she called in the staff gave her the email address of a manager who she was told was in charge of the private parties. Neither emails were responded to.
There are multiple reviews about people who have tried to set up parties and were ignored, so this clearly is not a one time issue. While I appreciate that you want to avoid this type of situation in the future, I am not impressed with your restaurant's professionalism. You've been in business long enough that these kinks should have already been worked out.
The food was amazing, the server was nice but the manager was rude and unfriendly. Our group was separated when there was open tables near us. Very unfortunate and we will not be coming back.
Beautiful setting, and while staff are nice, they're not polished. Food was good, but could have been great if it wasn't drenched in oil. Don't get me wrong, these are small flaws. We'll go back.
My wife and I went with another couple the day before valentine's day. It was our first time, and we cannot wait to go back. The food was great, our waiter was helpful, and it was a great atmosphere. We really enjoyed it, everything was delicious, and we will be back!
Well, good-looking food. But not as good taste as it looks.
Great atmosphere, decent happy hour deals. Fantastic food.
Great lunch specials and delicious cocktails. Also super cute interior.
Food was fantastic! Had dinner in their new bubbles outside. Very cool experience! And heated!
This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it and will definitely go back!! A co-worker and I stopped in after work just to grab a drink and appetizer. We both ended up ordering a full entree. The whole menu looked amazing! Thanks waitress was super friendly and helpful. The service was great! The atmosphere is cozy. The restrooms were clean. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.
The food is really good but it was expensive and it was small portions for the price. The menu felt limited. I expected more options.
Cozy place, good selection a little pricey for State College though
Had a FANTABULOUS Christmas Eve dinner with the WILLIAMS FAMILY , service and food was Unbelievable, thanks GIGI'S for an Unforgettable Christmas Eve.
Nice atmosphere.Great wait staff.Excellent recommendations provided an awesome culinary experience !
Food is fantastic!
all round good place to go for dinner. Waitress was polite and respectful. Plenty of gluten free options including dessert.
Great place for conversation and good food
Always delicious food with a great atmosphere. An awesome spot for date night or if you want to go to a nice place to celebrate any occasion with friends or family!
The interior of the restaurant is lovely. The service friendly and attentive, but the bar wasn't cooperating and it took over 20 minutes for our drink order to arrive. The food was good but not overly creative. With a more interesting menu and adequate staffing, this would have been 5 stars. Will try again!
This place is absolutely HORRIBLE! The food is very nasty, I'm not sure how, and why, they are even considered a southern restaurant. There's nothing 'southern' about this place. The one star is for the drinks they serve because it's just okay, but my friend had a gnat in his drink. The chicken I ordered wasn't cooked right and it was flavorless. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! Sorry, not sorry.
We were six, with reservations at 6:00. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken about 5 minutes later. Drinks arrived promptly, but our food order want taken until 6:30. That just seemed like an awfully long wait, especially with reservations.
Our appetizers arrived at 6:40 and dinner was served at 7:00. Food arrival from order time was quite reasonable.
We all tried pretty much everything from each other as viewable from the attached photos. It was all incredible.
Gigi's is a beautiful down home southern style restaurant. It's very nice ambiance but still relaxed. The bartender was fantastic and made top notch cocktails. Food was adequate, but brisket could have been a bit better.
Good food. Little noisy. Nice outdoor patio with interesting gas lamps.
Best service is if you just sit at bar. Food is fine service is inconsistent. Last time I was there we were seated at 7pm cocktails arrived at 740, apps at 815 and dinners at 850. It didn't seem busy for a Wednesday night.
Service was excellent!!! Food was delicious& price was right. I definitely look forward to comming back again. Thank you
I really missed New Orleans food, they also have a great outdoor patio.
Great food, friendly staff. I ordered the grouper. It was prepared well. Portion was the right size.
I ordered the filet mignon. The steak was great but the sides not so much. The service was quite mediocre. Was served a 2/3 of a cup of coffee in a dirty mug with a table spoon on the side!
Excellent food excellent service. This is a must go to place. I have been here twice and have never been disappointed. Indoor and outdoor seating. Food is delicious with large portions.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in State College. I feel the food is a bit mediocre now, than it used to be, and the extra attention has gone away. From what I understand new management has happened and old favorites are gone. Such as the build your own Bloody Mary bar in Saturday's. They used to have a garlic vodka, which was amazing in a Bloody Mary, and quality seasonings (such as lava salt) to build it with. Now they upped the price and the Bloody Mary lacks in quality as those ingredients are not on premise any longer
Heard a lot about this restaurant but sincerely just average. Expensive that is for sure.
The experience was poor, end of story. I would not recommend that anyone go here. If you are in the market for an upscale dining experience, you would be far better off heading to Zola, for better everyday fare there are any number of bars and restaurants that offer better service and much better food for a cheaper price.
My fiancee and I came here with a reservation for 6:15, and were seated promptly. It then took the waitress 8 minutes to find us for our drink orders. Appetizers took a short while and were hot which was nice, but at best acceptable. Not worth 10-14 dollars each. The pattern of poor service continued throughout the evening, taking a half hour for our food to arrive after ordering. The crab cakes were good enough, and my fiancee enjoyed them, but my carbonara was absolutely horrific. The cream sauce had completely broken and was just oil on the plate with cheese solids. The shrimp were mildly overcooked and chewy, but the bacon bits were literally burned to a crisp. We ordered desert and it took 15 more minutes to bring out a preprepared Mudpie, which again was passable, but not particularly good. In short, the food and service were consistently bad. Not worth returning. Even as a place to avoid the college students, not worth the stop.
One final note of the atmosphere of the restaurant. They are aiming for a southern feel and it definitely has a coastal feel, but more Maine than any southern kitchen. They are lacking any southern architectural cues, instead relying on white shiplap and stained glass, a definite northeastern feel. Almost feels like a more modern red lobster. And I think that says it all. At least at the lobster your waitress will check in with you once in a while.
Bolsters a menu of unique offerings for the area and features great food, an eclectic atmosphere, and friendly people
This was tasty.... It's definitely on the pricier side, but we were not disipointed. With a starter of southern nachos I barely had room for more, but the Cajun/blackened fish tacos were fantastic. Sweet potato fries? Great. Excellent salad with some amazingly tasty charcuterie as well. Kind servers, good atmosphere!
Service was excellent, but some of the food missed the mark. For example, the "homemade" biscuits were hard and cold to icy in the middle. Drinks were good.
I've been going out to eat in State College for over 35 years and tonight's dinner was probably the worst I've ever eaten in town. Service was poor. 2 of us had the shrimp carbonara and the pasta was over cooked and dry. My wife had the salmon and it too easy over cooked and dry also. I can't believe they actually served the food. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone
It wasn't the summer weather but the girl at the front desk who was hot :P and of course the food was amazing with fantastic service
Five star service! Beautiful and unique atmosphere. The food and cocktail selections are creative and delicious! I highly recommend this as a place to meet up for drinks, have brunch, night out with friends or date night. They also have live music and food specials periodically.
* it's located exactly to the right. After turning off the main road.
Busy night, unfortunately they were very understaffed. The experience here is usually top notch with excellent service and food, very different tonight though. Undercooked chicken came out of the kitchen, they were unable to clear plates from the table in a timely matter, very few bussers, and server was distracted. Based on this experience, definitely avoid during busy season.
Seth was my Bartender. I will be back for dinner. Great open atmosphere with Land and sea lover decor and Menu. I had a draft Guinness.
Great food. Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. I went there for my birthday and shared on my FB. Surprisingly they sent me a "thank you for sharing your special moment with us" on FB. I thought that was so special.
We asked the front desk at the hotel for a great restaurant @gigissoutherntable in State College Pa fit the bill. We surfed the menu hard. Chipotle Deviled Eggs, Blackened Shrimp & Grits with Tasso Ham Gravy, New Orleans Garlic Shrimp in butter, Gumbo, Farmer s pork chop with Horseradish Butter , Carolina Cole Slaw , Jalapen o Corn Bread and a Peanut Butter Tower. ( dessert). High recommendations. Chandler was an amazing server
Great restaurant. Pork chops and steak are great here. Good place for kids. Make a reservation on Friday and Saturday nights!
Food was okay, not as great as I was expecting. Atmosphere was chill and unique, waitress was terribly slow and we rarely had what we needed. Would prob go back and give it another chance.
Great food with an ever-changing menu. Inventive cocktails and casual / comfortable atmosphere.
Was in town visiting and stopped here for both dinner and lunch. What a great atmosphere, great services, good food and respectable drinks. Seth was my server and his knowledge of the menu, cocktails and everything in between was genuinely impressive. Most service industry people could learn a thing or two about how it's done from him.
Disappointing. Initially a nice feel to the establishment...even after having to wait several minutes at the hostess station to be greated. Used Open Table to make reservations which were handled well.
Waitress initially was prompt, took drink orders and starters were brought timely after ordering.
Essentially after this it was downhill. Entrees were very slow coming...3 tiny bread baskets later entress were presented. Presentation was somewhat confusing with my quail and overly simple for my wife and daughters grouper. Several minutes into the meal my daughters meal was discovered very undercooked. It took until well after my wife and I finished our dinners that the waitress finally came back within range for me to hail her and address the undercooked fish. 5 minutes later the uncooked fish portion was returned from the kitchen and placed in front of my daughter, quite unprofessionally.
The restaurants efforts to make amends were to offer a 5% discount on our meal tab against a $28 entree which was uncooked.
Last feedback...drinks were never offered to be refreshed nor refilled.
Very disappointed after what began as a promising experience. Highly unlikely to return or recommend.
Taylor was an awesome bartender! Very attentive and knowledgeable
The service was not good. Got a porter house steak. Not very good. I think the whole experience was over priced
Forgot to take a pic before we started eating ! Always the best
Classy spot, never had a bad experience. Food, drinks, and service are always top notch.
Awesome raw bar! We sat the bar on a Friday night and had 3 raw bar items. I highly recommend trying this! The atmosphere is really great too! Great live music!
Best seafood and all around dining in State College!
One of the worst dining experiences of my life! Rude, annoyed waiter, who acted like it was a chore for him to serve us, not a welcoming, happy staff. The food is overpriced and not good.I got the Georgia Peach salad with grilled chicken. No seasoning on the chicken. Certainly wasn't worth 18 bucks. The only thing that is worth one star is the facility itself. Comfortable seating and nice decor.
The food is okay. But the manager was not helpful when we needed them to retrieve a receipt.
Very nice restaurant. Has an eclectic menu, and I get the sense that it changes fairly often. They focus on local food while serving non-local dishes. Everything tasted outstanding.
Great food, nice ambiance and good service from a friendly staff.
Hands down the best burgers in town! I have enjoyed all the food I have ordered there. They have innovative dishes for those tired of standard fare. The bar makes excellent mix drinks and has a variety of draft beers on tap. The wait staff is very friendly.
Good atmosphere, good service, and good food too! I'll be coming back again.
Perfectly cooked catfish. The chicken-fried grits were interesting and tasty.
Delicious! I had the shrimp carbonara which was amazing. Service was outstanding also.
Food was too hot to handle or eat, salty, and drenched in oil. Our server was terrible--didn't notify us of the soup selectios nor offer dessert, didn't return to check on us, and overall not customer service oriented.
The food has no flavor. Sorry. Nice place though. Pretty decor, good service. Maybe I'll come back and try the drinks from the bar.
I have tried to give this place a chance but last Saturday was the final straw. There were 10 of us looking to grab a drink after dinner, knowing that GiGis has strange hours, even on weekends, I called to make sure they were open. The woman told me she would not discourage me from coming but the kitchen had closed at 9:30 and things were winding down, it was 9:45pm on a Saturday. Since we were close and only having 1 drink we went. We arrived 10 minutes later and we were turned away! Recently, I have tried to plan parties there, no one has ever returned phone calls or emails. Often we will go in for dinner and the restaurant has a few tables and they say that they are entirely reserved for the evening. No wait time just go away we don't want your business. The food is often under seasoned, especially the small plates the drinks have good pours but are expensive. This restaurant has so much potential but their lack of customer service is what will keep my friends and I from going back. Many of us that live close by love the thought of this restaurant, it's a shame that they do not want our business.
Great bar area. Loved the peanut infused bourbon! Dinner was great too.
I wondered upon Gigi's by mere coincidence. While being in the middle of nowhere, or at least that's how it felt, I got to go to this fantastic place with great furniture, lovely staff and great food. Couldn't hope for. A better place to eat around.
All the meals I have tried have been excellent. I would call the food southern fusion.
We were here for a gymnastics meeting, the food was wonderful, and the service was excellent.
We have repeatedly been seated only to sit and wait 20-30 minutes to even see the server. On one occasion we after half an hour of sitting in the middle of the bar room and watching multiple other tables be seated, helped, served and one even finishing up his lunch. We got up and left. Don't come hungry because you may starve to death before they even bring you water.
