MOST DISRESPECTFUL MANAGEMENT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! My family made a reservation at Gigi's three months ahead of time for my college graduation dinner party and ONLY THREE WEEKS before our graduation reservation date they call and cancel because a larger party would like to rent out the entire restaurant! All they care about is how much money they can bring in. As soon as a better opportunity came along they ditched our reservation. Now we are left with no location for our dinner. There were 16 people scheduled in the reservation and they all booked hotel rooms because we planned on having a large dinner party at Gigi's. I cannot believe the disrespectful service this restaurant has. I will never go back!

So glad I came here. Iris was great.
She took care of.me and was extremely attentive.

Food was great and atmosphere was rustic and not too loud.

Definitely a place to stop in at for some well priced foods.

Romantic and artsy environment, though food quality does not meet our expectation considering the price. Fried po sub comes with only two shrimps ($18). (I was hoping that this place served fresh seafood since people raved about the raw bar on the Internet; to my dismay, shrimp was not succulent at all. So better avoid!) The linguine in Carbonara is a bit hard to chew ($20). Biscuits taste good with honey butter and sweet potato fries are not bad too.

Disappointing. Many websites list this restaurant as having gluten free items--and it does. The house salad with no add-ons (meat or fish), calamari, deviled eggs. Not enough to make a lunch for me. Staff was very nice, and restaurant is attractive. Perhaps dinner has more options.

Easily one of the best restaurants in State College. As a Southern (Richmond, VA) transplant for undergrad I have to recommend this place--their sides are always well paired with their mains, and their shrimp & grits with sherry cream sauce was a great reminder of my hometown's food scene, so it's very true to form. Again, definitely recommend!

Mediocre at best

Mediocre at best
I was looking for something a bit different but still casual for dining alone on a business trip to State College. The building and interior decor are lovely and much nicer than I had expected, although inappropriate for a Southern restaurant. The wait staff was pleasant but inexperienced. Unfortunately the ambiance was ruined by an awful singer/guitarist who must have been a friend of the owner since no one should every hire her, in my opinion. I asked to be moved to a table out of earshot.
The food was uninspired. The famous fried green tomatoes were over breaded and over-sauced. I had to remove all the breading to make them palatable. For a main course I ordered the brisket, which was thinly sliced - not chunky, and way too salty. The cornbread was overcooked - hard around the edges, and the red rice with andouille was insipid.
All in all a meal that I did not enjoy and of which I could only eat about half. I did not want to risk desert. I was happy just to pay my bill and leave.

There have been some changes, including a smaller menu. In my opinion, the value for this place isn't correct. The quality that you get is less than that of the price you pay. Of course this also comes at a decrease in variety. Not a bad place overall but I feel that they need to make some changes to hit the sweet spot in value. (Yes this is taking atmosphere into effect as well)

Place is fancy looking and food is good, but it sure isn t a Red lobster or Outback Steakhouse restaurant. I mean that in the sense that if you usually eat at those restaurants it ll be kinda different coming here. While those places feel more like a public family place, this place feels more like a public fancy hangout place. Coming here with my girlfriend I got a $13 bourbon BBQ sandwich and she got a $36 steak. As soon as we got our food you definitely knew who ordered the more expensive plate(I got a tin tray and her a fancy plate). You d think $13 is a decent price for a good sandwich, well it is if you like eating a beef jerky sandwich which is all it tasted like, beef jerky. But the steak was good... kinda.

A few years ago, I had this issue with Gigi's that stopped me from going there a couple of years. I brought two friends yesterday and we had a great time.
I think it was a matter of giving it a second chance and perhaps see a personnel change.
Yesterday we got their rib eye and fillet mignon. I ordered mine medium but it came well done. The flavor, however, was good. The waitress was patience with our indecisions and she came to the table pretty often to refill our glasses of water. I asked for a side of French fries because they are really good.
My recommended: their house salad (if you like goat cheese). Fish tacos for lunch (their lunch specials are great).

Loved sitting outside on the patio in once of the bubble tents. Felt very safe with all covid precautions. The decor inside is lovely and captivating, and I can t wait to eat inside some time so I can more fully absorb it. The cocktails (cosmo and voodoo sunrise) were delicious. We got the blackened mahi mahi tacos with chips and the blackened shrimp tacos with sweet potato fries (an up-charge, but worth it). Everything was fresh, tasty, and filling. Price-wise, it s definitely a splurge for us, but one we ll look forward to returning to!

Service was subpar, waitress never checked on us. The food wasn't great and little pricey for such bland menu, also the crabcakes were runny. Atmosphere was pleasant tho, we enjoyed the relaxed vibe.

Our server didn't show up to our table for 10 minutes. Which was fine we were enjoying the fireplace. She gave us OK recommendations, but didn't know any of the specials or offer them readily. We decided on the brisket sandwiches and wedge salad. The food was good minus the super soggy pickles on the sandwich. Service was pretty slow even though they weren't busy (Monday at 7-8). But when I went to eat my leftovers, she never put my chips in. Only my sandwich. And I had almost half my portion left. I really don't like it when servers whisk away your food and don't let you pack it yourself. I spent a lot of money on dinner and only ended up with a bit of my sandwich left over. She could have asked if I wanted them before assuming I didn't.

Good food, well prepared. Seafood appetizer platter (oysters, shrimp, snow crab) was very good shared for four. Dinner servings of Carbinara Shrimp and Porkchop were both excellent. Server was pleasant, service was good, but a bit inconsistent on a busy Saturday night. Will definetely return for another visit.

Gigi's has the foundation to be five stars but at the moment I can't quite give it. I have been here three times and there's always something that happens in which the server has had to offer a free desert...which I can't complain about but since it's a recurring situation, there are some things they need to work out. The service is always phenomenal and their food is amongst the best in town, but I will say that it is slightly overpriced. I do appreciate the <48 hr farm to table aspect which justifies price a little but there are times in which I can't justify being a patron for a meal. Overall a restaurant to definitely recommend especially if you're looking for some southern inspired food.

My friend and I came for brunch without reservations. The host came off as unfriendly, but our waiter was kind and came to check on us multiple times even though it was really busy. The decor is pretty and the benedict was delicious! My friend said her steak was a bit bitter however. We'll definitely be back to try dinner.

We started coming here for brunch on Sundays when the Waffle shop was too busy but found that we liked this place way more. The wait staff is very friendly. Their Cajun food is excellent. Dinner is also excellent and the environment is relaxing and welcoming.

We were able to easily find a table on a Friday night - many other locations were super busy. It s a neat restaurant with a Southern vibe and gravest food. While eating at Gigi s, I had a baguette filled with chicken salad accompanied with sweet potato fries which in my opinion was incredibly tasty.

This place is amazing! The food is outstanding. The staff are all friendly and attentive! There is literally nothing bad to say about this place. I go there on a regular basis. The menu is always changing to keep our interests, but it also keeps the popular items on it. The chefs know exactly what people like! Their menu is wonderful, and their Sunday Brunch is also delicious!! Make sure to go there for a special holiday or event when they have a buffet. They are amazing and worth every penny!!! Love Gigi s!!

I attended PSU twenty+ years ago so when I came back after my daughter enrolled, I expected little in terms of good restaurants. I have been consistently surprised by Gigi's with both their food and their service. The menu has a good mix of small and large plates with differing takes on Southern classics. Everything I have had has been executed well. The cocktails are updated classics and they have a varied beer and wine selection. The service has also always been good and way above what I expected. I have been back three times since my initial visit and have never been disappointed

Had our wedding rehearsal dinner here, after multiple other trips for happy hour and dinner. Managers and staff were extremely courteous, dinner was great. This is a really nice place to go if you are looking for something away from downtown. Drink prices seem a bit high, but not unreasonable.
