I've gotten to know the owner personally from shopping here from my aquariums for years this is the ONLY place around to get fresh and saltwater fish, very knowledgeable staff decent prices and lots of choices.

what I don't like is it they get stuff donated to him Rusty stuff and they charge too much for it and they get it for free and they try to get the maximum amount that they can for it I will shop there anymore there fish cost too much the only have one day guarantee on your fish other places have a week-to-week it's not worth the trip
I love this store, ive made alot of very good purchases here, but the tanks are over crowded, the last two times ive bought feeder fish my fish has gotten ich and now my fish seems to have cottonwool disease. I also bought a $100 piece of drift wood for my tank that floats. I tried screwing and 10 pound weight to the bottom and it still floats, glue wont even hold it down.
The knowledgeable staff has helped me acquire the right fish to create a beautiful tank. It's a no frills kind of place, just grwat service and great fish.
Love this aquarium, store they carry everything you need to start aquarium hobby from beginner to the pros. Amazing. The largest selection of saltwater fish anywhere. All the supplies you need to maintain a healthy aquarium, saltwater or reef tank. This store is awesome. A defineate 5star experience
I've been coming to Gerbers for years. Initially I was into saltwater and they had a good selection, of frags and fish. A few years ago the quality really seemed to go downhill. Their frag tanks were full of algae and looked pretty awful. After an aquarium hiatus I got back into the hobby but into high tech freshwater setups. Again I was let down, their selection of plants and nano fishes was poor. 6 months later I came back and was absolutely blown away. The frag tanks looked great, they had a wide variety of freshwater aquarium plants and nano fishes. I just called today and they were able to special order a fish for me. Great service! They seem a little understaffed at times and could possibly use one more staff members. That would be the only advice I would give to the owner.
Great selection which is why we drove 40 minutes to get here. We were ready to spend serious cash on clownfish but we couldn t find anyone to help us. We were willing to wait for assistance as they were busy. We asked a few employees if we can be helped next but we were told to find someone else. We did that but we re told that by several employees to find someone else. Beautiful clownfish but we left.
I've been getting a small tank set up in my home office and this store is wonderful! They have everything you need for an aquarium and the most helpful staff. I most recently worked with Kyle (definitely ask for him!) and he was so knowledgeable about not just the fish, but plants and rocks and anything else you may need. Thanks Gerber's and Kyle!
Very knowledgeable staff and if they don't know the answer, they will find someone that does. Gerbers has an amazing selection of everything that you need to make your aquatics successful!
Awesome employees and Awesome owner! John offered to House a Duncan and a Shrimp for me that were ordered unknowingly by someone before my tank was ready for them.
There is a larger store in Fairborn but you cannot beat the level of service you receive at Gerbers.
Love this place great selection of fresh and salt water fish ! Very knowledgeable staff and very friendly! They are always busy. They work really hard to get to everyone to help them! Definitely became a regular customer ! Highly recommended! Recently bought this guy there!
I love it's location being so close to me. Also what I like about the store is it's selection. Yes it is more expensive but that doesn't bother me. The best part is the staff who have been great and knowledgeable.
What I do not like about the store and the reason for the two stars is the owner. Strange personality, abrupt, and rubs the wrong way at times. This is not based on one specific instance but seen over time. It is to the point if I see him there I leave. If I knew when he would not be there I would go more often. Instead I make the extra drive to Cincinnati for my needs.
Super friendly staff And they really know their stuff when it comes to fish. The owner came out and answered all my questions he was so nice. I would highly recommend going here for all your fish needs.
My favorite fish store in the area. Bought my first fancy oranda from them and I am in love. Staff is awesome and I keep wanting to go back. Excellent fresh and salt water selection.
Huge selection of fresh and saltwater fish and supplies. Used and new equipment. Employees very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend this place!
I love Gerber's they have excellent fish plants their accessories are unique to the business. My only complaint is that it's not handicap accessible. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help and they also make sure that you know what you're doing before they sell you a fish. One of the best fish stores in Ohio
They have a wide variety of saltwater and freshwater creatures. Invertebrates, coral, sharks, shrimp and fishes. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. It is a bit crowded but they have most anything you might be looking for your home aquarium.
This is not a fancy fish store but is huge and has a very large selection of fish and coral. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and helpful as is the rest of the staff
Nice place well organized love the salt water . Lots of different quality of fish. He makes his own fish food as well . It's great I notice the change in my fish color
Amazing staff and the coolest little secret in Ohio. They have everything and it s such a cool place to walk through. This place needs a massive building somewhere with heavy foot traffic. I ve mentioned this place to a ton of people and they had no idea it was in our back yard!!
Excellent! They have a large variety of fish and they are healthy and well cared for. The staff is knowledgable and very helpful, whether you are a beginner like me or have more experience with aquariums. Highly recommend.
The drive from Columbus is definitely worth it. I've been twice over the last couple of months and purchased live fish for my freshwater tank on both trips. They are all still going strong in my tank. Knowledgeable staff and great selection of fresh/salt water supplies and livestock.
Visited for the first time yesterday the staff were great friendly and very helpful and what a awesome selection salt and fresh I've seen some say the prices are high but they all looked on par to me love the place will definitely be coming back .
Don't be thrown off by how warm it is inside, they keep the environment at the proper temperature for the fish, not for you! The employees may be sweaty at times because of the heat, but they are great and attentive, and busy taking care of all the varieties of fish they have. They have probably any fish, any size, and all the equipment and accessories you probably would need to take care of them. Make this your one stop place for all your aquarium needs. Prices are also very reasonable.
This is the only place to get the most exotic and diverse aquatic life in the entire ohio area. If they don't have a specimen of your desire they will aquire one immediately.
Some things never change nor does this place. Just walked around for 15 mins. No one asked if I needed any help. Same as last few times I have been here. Finally a kid asked if I need help. I told Home I was looking for a tank and such, said he would be right back. Haven t seen him since. I won t give them another chance.
Its not your typical fish store, its more like a fish warehouse. Great prices, huge selection, and very friendly owner and staff. I highly recommend going to the store if you haven't been.
They have a nice selection of fresh and saltwater fish. They are a little bit more pricy then other pet stores and I ended up buying 3 dwarf puffer fish and two of the three died shortly after I got them but my other fish that I got from this place has so far survived so I'm hopeful. I normally don't have fish that died on me so I'm not sure if the fish was really truly healthy when I receive the puffer fish. So far my other fish that I've bought from there have been okay. I normally buy my fish at Petsmart and I've had no problem with them dying on me so for the fish that I got at Gerber's tropical fish, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Greedy, Greedy, Greedy. I understand Gerber's doesn't have to give cash or credit for fish customers bring in but only $5 for a fish purchased at their store for 40+ and is now bigger and in better shape than when I got it is ridiculous. If I had let them take that fish for only $5 they were gonna sell it to someone else for 40+ again. I understand they can't give me the same price their gonna sell it for but have a standard for what percentage your going to give people. Maybe the owner should be in the store. The kids working there could use some guidance with their customers service skills. And I think 24 hours is a pretty short guarantee. Way to have some confidence in your fish and your customers. With the high prices on their fish I don't think that anyone that doesn't know how to keep fish is going to buy anything there anyways. In fact I don't think I could purposely kill a fish in 24 hours unless I purposely left it out of the water. But that's probably safe for Gerber's considering the only fish I haven't had problems with where ones that a customer recently brought into their store. High prices, mediocre fish, poor customer service and no standards. I don't think I will be doing business with Gerber's again without some big changes.
Had a good variety of fish but if the tank is not cared for they wont survive long, fish was maintained very poorly they were to worried about selling them then taking care of them 4 different tanks had dead fish in it even the higher end fish (stingray) was dead and the other fish were eating it
Simply put, I'm 58, and been keeping fish since I was 5. I lived in the heyday of fish shop in the 80's and 90's. Gerber's is in class of it's own. You never know what you will run across in this store. They know fish, they keep fish healthy, you may pay more for fish but o have never gotten a sickly fish from them. Plus, customer service and knowledge of staff is good.
The absolute best. Professional and friendly staff. They have a lot to handle and they somehow manage to do it all perfectly. I appreciate this place very much and will continue to support it with my business.
Pros: Large fish selection freshwater and salt water. Small and large fish, ray's and others you will not find at all in petsmart and chain stores. Prices can vary depending on fish. The larger cichlids and oscars run about 100 or more. Lots of pretty angel fish, arrowana and tetras. Cons: Concerned about the health of some of the fresh water fish. The tanks with the larger fish were too overstocked, some of the fish hurt. Also, some of the saltwater fish are kept in tiny tanks about the main display. I dont know if this store takes in unwanted fish also or something. But to me way to many alligator gars.
Definitely worth going to if you are fish enthusiast though! Some very rare finds.
