Dined in on 5/20/21 at 8 PM reservation

TLDR: food was good, our server was nice, ocean view seats are considered premium and should be requested upon arrival or ahead of time. I requested those seats after we were seated because we saw 2-3 tables away, was told it was unavailable but then another party was seated next to us and requested to move there and was granted. Not sure how that works.

When we arrived, we were seated 2-3 tables away from the edge. There weren't any tables at the edge, so that's understandable. We then saw 2-3 parties leave and they cleared the tables, so I walked up to the hostess to ask if there were anyway we could be seated by the edge.

She told us: "Sorry, unfortunately nothing is available."

I would normally understand this, except these two ladies were seated next to us and as soon as they sat, I see them talking to the hostess and they get moved to one of the empty tables on the edge with ocean view.

This put a bitter taste in my mouth for the dinner.

Our server was nice and the food was good though.

We ordered:
Tom Kha Mussels ($16)
Fried Calamari ($14?)
Grilled Salmon ($32)

I proceeded to read other reviews after dinner and I saw a review where the owner said the ocean view seating is premium seating and must be reserved at the time of reservation except that option is no where to be found. I did see another note that seating requests can be done upon arrival and first come first serve basis. Not sure what was different between my request and the other party's request but they got seated by the ocean when we were told it was unavailable.

Probably wouldn't come back.

Tom Kha Mussels: broth is light with a great accent of basil and lime. Mussels were hardy and cooked perfectly.

Braised Lamb Shank: best lamb I've ever had. Completely fell off the bone and spiced well. Gaminess actually enhanced. Great balance with the feta and puree for nuttiness and earthy flavors.

Scallops Grenobloise: wish there was more scallops but cooked firm and springy. Fennel was a great pairing but the green beans felt off.

The rooftop terrace was very enjoyable. There are views of the entire coast. Food was tasty and service was impeccable. I was celebrating my birthday and they gave me a special olive oil bottle as a birthday gift. Very touching and sweet.

George's at the Cove is always a pleasant experience. Right now they are being very careful and have the tables partitioned off and the wait staff have gloves and masks on. The top level allows everyone the opportunity at an ocean view! The menu is a bit limited, but has a good variety regardless. Always a great place for casual or more upscale!!

Level 2 easily contends for best cocktails in town. The staff have made an absolute gem of a cocktail menu. Seems very rare that these places with a great view bother to have drinks or food to match, but George's level 2 has put in the work and it shows.

Their curbside menu is superb. We had their seafood boil and it was over the top. Delicious and plentiful. Loaded with Shrimp, Crab Legs, Clams, Mussels, Lobster, Sausage, Corn on the Cobb and Potatoes. Starters were the best Clam Chowder loaded with whole clams and a big salad. Every time we ve gotten their takeout it s been excellent. Worth every penny, as you will get multiple meals. Looking forward to their Super Bowl menu.
