Nice place, but be careful with the locals in the port area. Actually you can visit the place with tourist guide, is safe. The oceanological institute is closed since 2013, but the ruins of the citadel is open.

Its nice place with amazing view .enjoy your time there without turning to any one there offering any kind of service like taking boat or other fake things

This is a historical place from the 16th century. It is very well maintained, all walls and building is complete. The is a parking places outside. There you can have any excellent view of the sea and the city of Alexandria. Also you can rent a boat or have a horse ride around the castle.

Is so nice place in Alexandria , it has many Foreigners , good to take pictures , and we made a birthday party there , but the only problem was that they were fixing it

The castle is a wonderful historical landmark but now around it's selling and construction work has made its landscape not good

it was built by the Mamluki king "Quaitbay" the king of Egypt at the middle ages by Pharos stones (which it had been destroyed by several earthquakes).

This castle is located at the end of Pharos Island in the far west of Alexandria. Great place for visiting it with children - a lot of free space and in the citadel itself a lot of mysric places. It's better not to go in very hot days. Together with aquarium and museum which are very close to citadel and such attractions like riding bicycles or horse, small souvenir's shopping, taking a boat to the sea will make a day full of unforgettable

The ancient view, in the castle, embraces the eternal past in the image of the castle with the present and the future in the image of the Library of Alexandria. The view is very very impressive.
