Nice place, but be careful with the locals in the port area. Actually you can visit the place with tourist guide, is safe. The oceanological institute is closed since 2013, but the ruins of the citadel is open.

This is a historical place from the 16th century. It is very well maintained, all walls and building is complete. The is a parking places outside. There you can have any excellent view of the sea and the city of Alexandria. Also you can rent a boat or have a horse ride around the castle.
