Prob better than some of the places you could end up.
Living example of "The left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing."
My dad is currently a patient there no visitors due to covid which is hard enough on him and his family. But it's a shame that we call to check on him and are almost always told the nurse isnt available she/he will call you back. They don't call back. This is extremely terrible I've tried 2x today and my brother once neither one of us have been called back. Awful way to run a hospital. Bad enough we can see him to know if hes alright but it's like pulling teeth to get an update. I know your staff is busy but come on my dad is hard of hearing so he doesnt answer the phone. HE HASN'T called either. I havent talked to him since Monday. When he was in scranton last month I absolutely had no trouble getting updates at all. Needs major improvements.
Worse ER ever. There should be an organization that look at the way the emergency rooms work in this country because this is ridiculous, 8hrs in a waiting room, that's just wrong.
My mother was there from 3/23 till 4/19 in the icu the staff did a wonderful job doctors, nurses, and staff. The building was kept clean and I wish I could remember all of the names of the people that helped my mother thanks team! You guys are true heroes.
Thanks today my son was in the emergency room . His doing more better . Thanks to the Doctor and nurses . God bless
I cannot speak to the ER. However, the Vascular Group, and In particular, Dr. Obmann are fantastic! I went in with serious pain and issues with my toes. Within 30 minutes, I was being admitted to the hospital. I had severely blocked / compromised artery in my right leg. She thought that I may lose a toe or two, or portions of them. She performed surgery a day and half later. Everything went fantastic. She was extremely kind and professional. The nurses were all excellent during that stay and all follow up visits. Everyone I ran into in the various testing rooms kept telling "If you have to have this surgery, she is the one you want". I believe. I would definitely recommend the Vascular Group at GWV.
They cater to the elderly and not the sick. I got told that my son couldn't sit with me but a women was sitting waiting for her husband. I have been is pain for 2 days but yet got treated like I wasn't. I was also set home with blood in my urine and I was never told about it. It's a good thing I looks at my paperwork so I was able to go to urgent care and get treated.
Saw Dr. Carol Myers, she is an internal medical Dr & is Very Compassionate.
She takes the necessary time to treat you. She is very professional & knowledgeable. I highly recommend her.
The system is terrible when you call to make an appt or to cancell one. You are on hold for over 1 hr then they tell you the officeis closesd after you listen to the hold recording telling you that you can calll up til 9pm
FROM MY PERSPECTIVE AT THIS POINT, THE CUSTOMERS SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. MY MOTHER WAS ADMITTED SINCE DEC 28 2021. HER LOVED ONES HAVE BEEN CALLING IN TO CHECK ON HER, THE STAFF IS VERY RUDE! THE STAFF SEEMS SOMEWHAT INCOMPETENT, MU MITHER WAS INTUBATED WITHOUT CONSENT AND STILL REMAINS INTUBATED. SHE IS IN THERE WITH TROUBLE BREATHING AS A RESULT, WHICH SHE HAD NO ISSUES WITH BEFORE BEING PREVIOUSLY ADMITTED FOR SHOCK/SEIZURE. THIS PLACE SEEMS TO BE ALL ABOUT BILLING AND "KICKBACKS". THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE (DOCTORS, NURSES, STAFF) AND THEY ARE VERY BIASED AND NON SENSITIVE IN REAHRDS TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT OR OF A OTHER RACE, THE STAFF IS MOSTLY CAUCASIAN. (YALL TELL ME WHERE THE PUZZLE CONNECTS HERE?) I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE , I WILL SEE TO IT THAT THEY ARE HELD LIABLE FOR AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS WHILE MY LOVED ONE IS IN THEIR CARE
I would like to say that Dr. Brown in emergency medicine treats his patients with the utmost respect and compassion. Thank you. You will continue to do great things.
I'm an OTR trucker and had to bring my wife in here for kidney stones. They allowed me to bring the tractor close to the ER and helped me back down the road to turn around after leaving my wife with the nurses. The following two days of her stay at the hospital were pretty good. The nurses were pretty quick and efficient considering the amount of people that were there, and they were all pretty nice as they did their jobs. Definitely the best hospital we've gone to and we've had stays at a couple different ones.
I had a follow up appointment after my hospital stay. The physician's assistant was extremely rude, spoke over my voice, wouldn't answer my questions, and dismissed my symptoms because she said they couldn't have been caused by the accident. I asked her repeatedly what could be done about my dizziness and extremely bad headaches, if there was another course of action. Since this was the department specializing in this type of problem, I actually thought I'd be advised. She just kept telling me it probably wasn't a result of the accident. So? I don't care what caused it. I still have these problems and want them treated. I'm not going to pretend they don't exist because the assistant feels they weren't caused by the accident. I asked again and again if there were anything I could do. She wouldn't give me a straight answer and kept talking in circles. When I pointed this out, she started an argument. Finally, I asked if there was anything else this department could do to help treat my symptoms. She just stared at me with her mouth hanging open. She didn't even respond. So, I asked again. Why couldn't she just give me an answer so I could move ahead with treatment or seek it somewhere else? She refused to give me a simple tea or no answer, so I left.
Great experience here when my mom had emergency bi-pass surgery. Her ICU team post-op were incredible, made sure she was comfortable, kept us updated on her recovery and what to expect. The PT team was caring and listened to my mom in what she felt she could and couldn't do. She was transferred to the heart hospital after ICU and her ICU team called to let us know where she would be in the morning. The heart hospital team was also so incredible, kind and caring.
The service was just so-so, but the chicken wings were excellent!
I wanna put a hudge thank u out to the er staff and nurses for Friday night. My fiance came in and u took good care of him. Thank u so much from the bottom of my heart and the nurses and drs up on the pcu floor. Thank u it means the world to me. If it wasnt for u guys could of been a lot worse. Just glad he is ok and eating again. U guys took charge and corrected what another hospital misdiagnosed him with.
I have an infected tooth and need to see an oral surgeon and they will not make an appointment without a referral faxed. I faxed it on a Thursday and called Wednesday because I never heard anything back. They "didn't get it and were behind on faxes" So I faxed it again 3 times Wednesday. I called monday and they still "didn't get it" So I faxed it 10 more times and called Wednesday and they STILL "didn't get it." Then the lady tells me they're into June appts for new patients. It's March 1st and I already can't eat so I'm supposed to wait 3 months before I can have it pulled? Not to mention wasting my time and money sending all these faxes. Ridiculous. I'll take my business elsewhere.
Garbage facility. Illiterate staff, can not read orders. Can not even use a fax machine. Should not be involved with patients health.
You want a short ER wait? Go in with an emergency. Went with chest pain, rapid heart rate, they took me right away. Nurses were outstanding. Took my adult son, they found him a bed and took good care of him. We did wait long withy elderly mom, but it wasn't an emergency, the nursing home transported her there.
Great Dr's n nurse's. Respects the family members n kids of the patient s. All out great hospital.
Came in with a severe tooth ache and didn t get any pain relief for two hours after repeatedly asking for help. Staff was friendly but very unresponsive. Saw numerous other fast track patients get response and leave quickly. Three hours later we left still in pain
Terrible ER Experience. While I did not have to wait long to get in, The doctor on staff was rude, and of absolutely no help whatsoever. Made me lay in a bed in the hallway because they didn't think my insurance was any good (Out of state employer/provider). The doctor had no idea what was wrong so instead of consulting with others, he ran me through every test they had X-Rays' CT Scans, Ultrasounds, and some others. Lets not talk about how many times they stuck both of my arms for iv's and blood draws (My arms were bruised for weeks). They sent me on my way with no prescriptions no advice and in so much pain i could hardly breathe. Just a half assed diagnosis that seemed to be the first thing he could find to print out and get me out the door.
2 Days later my family doctor was able to diagnose me with a simple urine test.
My family is new to the area and we started going here because we have all had vary good experiences at geisinger in Danville BUT this hospital is awful I have new born and she has a 101 temp and were working on 4 hours of waiting and all they have done is take and x-ray (no reason for that) and still waiting.... my mom came here with chest pain and waited hours before getting called back and after hundreds of text, x-rays, MRI ex. to find out it was just a pulled muscle $14,000 later it's bull
If it weren t for Dr. Singh my grandma would have been S M O K E D. Thank you so much to all the doctors and nurses for your hard work!
Nothing at all. I was in a car accident. Had glass still in my head and a swollen right pointer finger. I got home. Only to have a friend finish pull the glass out of my head. Negative stars. I give.
I brought my husband here three days ago (Thursday)for chest/stomach pain. Once they finally took us back they put him in the hallway for HOURS. When they finally decided to keep him they didn t have a room so made one up for him. A surgeon spoke to him yesterday (Friday) and told him he needed surgery and then told him if he could eat something he could go home. He is having trouble with his gallbladder so of course they gave him grapes and a sandwich which of course he couldn t eat it. Much much later she comes back and tell us he is scheduled for surgery this afternoon (Saturday). She never introduced herself and was very clinical. This morning (Saturday)I get a call from husband at 8:30 am telling me they are taking him to surgery now. I barely made it before he went in to surgery and then they told me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Two and a half hours later I m still waiting. When they finally come out to tell me he is done they said I could see him in about 20-30 minutes. That was over an hour ago and I still haven t heard anything more. They don t communicate and they leave everyone hanging no matter what Department you are in. There is no one here to tell me what is going and there update board has patient numbers on it not names but they never gave me his number. This hospital is better than Wilkes Barre General but not by much. Stop trying to make money and start caring about the patient and their loved ones. I m so frustrated with this place.
Doctors and staff are great and do the best with what they re given (which isn t much). The administration is honestly just worried about the bottom line when it comes to patients. I understand balancing money and budget constraints but when it overworks doctors to the tune of 100+ hours a week (while forcing them to report a max of 80) it makes me scared to set foot in there. Be cautious.
Emergency room was almost a self serve. Arrived in evening 7:30 Jan 13, 2016. I had a BP of 178/110, lightheadedness, chest and abdominal pain.
The first priority was not to stabilize, it was to get patient information (for billing purposes). First paperwork taking about 15 minutes, then I sat in waiting room, brought back for EKG, then told to sit in waiting room, then back again for Blood Pressure reading, back to waiting room for 10 minutes...
Finally, escorted to emergency room.
The ER nurse Matt, was excellent. In fact I believe he was calling the shots for the doctor. However, it took 9 hours before the decision was made to admit me, 4:15am. So glad it turned out not to be life threatening.
After a day and a half of inpatient, I realized they did not have a plan of treatment. I was seen by four different doctors during that time.
Finally, I was told that I had abdominal blockage with enlarged prostate. They said I would need a bag and catheter administered and then do an outpatient follow up.
I said NO. Then told either I do the procedure or sign out AMA. (Blackmail???)
Well I signed out.
If I could give this a negative 5 stars I would.
Currently am going will see what you think of our hospital
With this pandemic, hospitals are always a great place for a check up
Great medical care!
Awesome Nurses!
Fantastic MDs!
Friendly, patient centered Dietary & Environmental staff!
Friendly Nursing students!
All around Magnet Level care!
Great when I can get the phone number , and not to fight with a phone book.
My dad is currently a patient and of course due to COVID no one is allow to stay with him. I been trying to get a hold of the nurse for two days I also leave a message with the receptionist and the nurse never gets back to me. It s really hurt not knowing if my dad is okay. And I also forgot to Mention that you moved my dad out the geisinger hospital and transfer him to another hospital without telling me so I had to call and was looking around for my dad to see what hospital he was taking to.
Saw Dr. Strom today at Valley Medical Building (off 315) playing defense for Dr. Jacobs who had me sign a consent while under the influence of a handful of pills and IV drugs pre-surgery (which was over 4 hours late getting started). A patient must be capable of making a medical decision and not under duress when signing consent, especially one in which the surgeon hand writes notes adding dangers to the procedure! Plus, he never offered any alternative to surgery but last time I spoke with him he said it might not have been the answer though he said my problem had a surgical solution. What a joke. I digress, so Geisinger brainiacs send me to Dr. Strom to see what he could do with the mess made by Jacobs. Dr. Strom seems nice enough and he may even be brilliant. Hard to say because he talks a million miles a minute. I asked him to slow down so I could understand and he said we only have so much time and I want to cover a lot. That is the gist of Geisinger. When a doctor feels pressure to rush through an appointment, mistakes WILL happen. Just like Jacobs rushed to get me into surgery without performing any testing to get a full picture of my health situation and then did not sit down and take the time to explain the negative factors of the surgery until I was already waiting to go into the OR. Geisinger has systemic problems. Maybe the doctors are better than they seem but how will we ever know? Dr. Strom did at least order the testing I should have been given prior to my initial surgery so we can get a full picture of my situation and then figure out what to do next. It s very sad that he ll never know me as a patient and I will most likely never know him as a surgeon because the Geisinger program does not allow for that kind of interaction and unfortunately, that is why their healthcare system fails and will continue to do so.
I call to see if I can schedule a tour and was told I can t do that I have to call any day to see if there s room available that day for me to see the labor and delivery room talk about being unorganized.
Excellent care, no waiting, all staff very congenial and superb nursing care.
Will never go back. Waiting for my phone call to be returned to list my complaints.
Dirty hospital heart doctor told me marawanna will kill you tell that to Willie Nelson 86 still going pill pushers there
the waiting time is too much, total disorganization
I LOVE THIS HOSPITAL....THE HOSPITALITY IS VERY AWESOME
Hands down worst hospital. I repeatedly had been to the ER multiple times for several issues including an inguenal hernia. People overflowing into the waiting room because of no available beds, they were in wheelchairs hooked up to ivs. One lady was there having chest pain for hours. Once I waited 8 hours and finally left. They called me the next day asking me where I went! Back to my hernia. The head of ER didn't even have courtesy to lift up the blanket to look at my hernia but said it was swollen lymph nodes and wrote me a script for 1 Klonopin and said "take this go home and get a good sleep. My father was there and said it was THE worst hospital he'd been to. Dr. David Schoenwetter D.O. is the head of ER. Ghetto hospital. Period. Terrible service, everything. I pity anyone who has no choice if they are near death!!
Such a poor experience that in the future should another emergency come up my initial thought will sure be to go anywhere but there. The lack of professionalism and empathy at the screening tent would make any educated person think twice but it is those moments we often look past such scenarios.
Nurses and doctors spend more time doing social hour in and out of the staff lounge then actually treating patients. The care is good if your willing to wait 6-8 hours to get that care. Piss poor staff in time management
Took my husband to ER. He was in severe pain. Waited 3 hours in the waiting room then taken to a hallway bed now waiting again to be seen by a doctor or nurse practitioner or someone maybe a janitor. Doesn t even deserve 1 star. We keep being told he is next to be seen. What a lie!
Had my mom in the ER, we sat there for 11 HOURS!!! Very disappointed :(
Love this place. Neurologist and pulmonologist dept are the best around
Worst hospital experience in my life. If you need to go to the hospital I would not recommend going to this one. Waited 7 hours my whole night and not one nurse came to see me but several nurses walked past me and I heard them laughing and talking. I would think for a hospital peoples health and lives would be more important clearly that is not the case for this hospital.
Slowly turning into a scummy place filled with scummy people. Just old people & welfare recipients around here anymore, never waited as long as I have in the waiting room in my life, and place is TOTALLY empty. 40 min, and it's not just a one time thing, it's constant. But, the company has a monopoly on the insurance around here, so I have no choice but to keep going.
I AM SO HAPPY TO BE ALIVE, WHEN I WAS BROUGHT IN WITH A BUTCHER KNIFE TO THE RIGHT EYE, I WAS LEVEL ONE TRAUMA, YOUR TEAM WORKING FAST TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T DIE, WAS COMFORTABLE, AND TRYING TO GET ME TO THE OR QUICKLY. I NOW HAVE A PROSTHETIC EYE AND YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL, AMAZING. I LOVE YOU ALL FOR KEEPING ME SAFE AND ALIVE.
Extremely long wait times at the doctors. Limited appointments available. Arguementative staff. Incompetent billing department that does not return calls. Organization operates a monopoly in northeastern PA.
This hospital and the Danville hospital are horrible they do not read into a patient's medical records they do not listen to the family
Nurses do not read into the records and then mislable their patients in which then
The patient does not get the care or treatment they are in need of. You will die there leave the state.
Wonderful facility. Staff friendly and helpful. Ancillary departments efficient. They are constantly working to keep on top of the latest medical treatments.
Waited forever, hurt myself at work then had to wait till my husband got off work to get there. it was Sunday so very few options in the area. Got to the hospital at 5:30 and didn't leave till about 9. Hurt my back lifting a garbage can at work so sitting for as long as I did didn't help. Xrays were done ..seen Dr. Brown very good bed side manner, and sympathetic. So all in all visit cons were waiting forever and I felt like they were going overkill with the meds they had wanted me to take before leaving. I understand it was to help with the pain but I had refused the majority of it, wishes that there were more naturals ways to go about dealing with pain. Pros Doctor Brown
The ER experience was not good. We waited approx. 8 hours with a dehydrated 5 year old begging for an IV. However, once she was admitted upstairs to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital our experience was great. The nurses and staff were wonderful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They gave my daughter a princess blanket, pillow case, stuffed animals, and box of toys. I would go back here again for my children. I just wish we could bypass the ER because that was insane.
7 hrs still in waiting room ... no test results back unbelievable.
This hospital used to be good, they now put people in the cold hallways where other patients walk past you with their sniffles and coughing and sneezes. and perhaps MRSA and other illnesses.
You are exposed to that while there . There were many beds in the rooms available. You lie in the cold hallway with absolutely no privacy. You can hear the nurse and doctors make phone calls from the nurses stations about other patients personal information.
Doctors come through for a few seconds like the patients are a drive up window.
I was in extreme pains, I wasn t given anything for hours to make me comfortable or pain free... I was thirsty, had no water, had no access to a phone as my cellphone was shut off by them. MORE IMPORTANTLY NO PRIVACY, whatsoever.
It s not as clean as it used to be, the nurses used to come and greet you at the beds and take note off your problems and get you settled and comfortable. No more, it s almost hard to tell who s a doctor and who is a nurse and who is the cleaning staff.
I and my other family members along with my friends are moving our files to another hospital. Geisinger now is all about saving their money and billing their patient s insurance companies full amounts but doing minimal work.
Nice hospital . Great doctors and courteous people.
A bit slow but not ridiculous slow. On the up, they are thorough when checking people so all concerns are take care.
The doctors feel that you need to make an issue before they talk to you. They do not explain in detail the plan of action unless you can figure out a question quick enough, you are made to feel like they have more important things to do besides answer your question. Procedures and tests come at the last minute as as a complete suprise. This may be a general attitude with doctors everywhere but seems more acute here.
The nursing staff here for the most part is excellent, there where a couple who had just bad attitudes. The day shift at the intensive care unit that let her vomit all over herself was inexcusable, they where more focused in crowding the internet and chit chatting, but the other shifts that came after that one where top notch and made you feel like they genuinely cared for the patient.
We spent most of our recovery time at the 5 east wing, the staff here are excellent, the younger nurses need an attitude adjustment but the seasoned ones where top notch. If given a choice, I would seek another hospital for serious problems. This is only because of the doctors attitude and lack of communication.
Don't know but I really don't appreciate being there 12 hrs in er and having a ex ray of my back and no iv for fluids until about 5 pm after I came in for drugs then told me there was nothing wrong with me and didn't even have my my blood pressure hooked up right and when they did a ekg they didn't even hook wires up I don't know the game they are playing but I feel really bad for anyone that really needs help there is more and I have proof just hoping someone steps up and starts doing something about this
My wife received the greatest care they're the OBGYN are great people the hospital and his staff and a children's unit went above and beyond the expectations that exceeded Mike thinking
Review for Women s Imaging: I give three stars because the gowns are just hospital gowns and we are waiting in a room with other women with these gowns open to the front. You can t tie them. You must sit with your arms across your chest to remain modest. Huge fail. Lets be kind and provide appropriate coverage for procedures so common and routine.....and personal. Thank you!
Dr. Lindsey Duguet really cares about her patients!
Absolutely terrible experience!!! Called to get schedule for x rays that I have order for, was told the clinic down the street also owned by Geisinger was open from 8 am to 6pm... I walk in at 3:59 to be told by girl at desk that labs close at 4, go to hospital. I have been sitting here now since 4 15. The woman at desk tried to be as helpful as she could, she has now gone home since 5 and I don't even have my paperwork so I can't leave... smh... this is a terrible experience and could have been avoided if the woman setting apppointments had told me the right time on the phone...
My mom was in ICU to staff at this hospital was 100% awesome my mom never made it but I know he had the best staff they help their as much as they can I want to say thank you for all the nurses doctors and medical staff at At this hospital thank you very much the wright family
Do not go anywhere near this hospital!!. Even If an ambulance wants to take you there beg them to go somewhere else. I am sitting here right now and have been waiting for a simple outpatient procedure for over 8 hours. When you question the staff the get rude and let you know you can leave if you like.
Drive the extra half hour and go to St Lukes
My wife was sent there for an MRI the family doc thought it was mild stroke from 1030 am till 2 am the next day she has been there for an MRI pathetic,, now they want to do another MRI ... Which they should have done the whole body scan from the start but no that would only make sense.. So now here it is 13 hrs later and still no MRI .. This is how geisinger makes their money hold you in a room charge ridiculous amounts of money and nothing gets done... If be so embarrassed to work there... Their MRI unit needs a new staff they are pathetic ...never will I ever go back there nor will I let my wife go back
Worst experience ever, how do you not have a heart in checking a preemie thoroughly before releasing him into the world, very sloppy staff ....what a big shame .... (shaking my head) !!!!!!!
How do you miss two broken ribs after taken an x-ray and then send a patient home!?!? We we're told it's "probably just a bruised kidney" and given aspirin! The pain got worse so we went to Danville hospital for a second x-ray and the doctors there couldn't understand how it's possible to miss two such breaks!!!! Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre is TERRIBLE!
At one time I would have given them 5 stars. The hospital has taken a serious downward turn. If your injured and coherent ask to be taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Geisinger is a multi-billion dollar corporation who should not have any issues tending to patients needs within a reasonable amount of time. A Lack of staff, hospitality and organization all make for a nightmare of a ER visit. If your not on your death bed, you will be forced to be treated in a hospital hallway, in the open, in front of god and everyone else in the hospital.
My oral surgeon and his staff are very kind I have been okay so far.
You ll probably survive the ER visit. However if you have a protracted illness you ll most likely get a hospital acquired infection before you slowly rot here. Get yourself a patient advocate as soon as possible. Then GET OUT and go somewhere where there are better treatment options and BETTER COMMUNICATION.
Very slow at getting important test results back(aka collapsed lung or anything related to the heart) 4+ hours of waiting in silence without knowing what's going on with you or even being told what's wrong and then not giving you your discharge papers because of a urine test that you've told them multiple times you don't have to go. I'm just saying, it's easier to handle things smoother when you don't get seen by 4 different doctors and then sit for hours waiting for nothing and then being told you can't leave.
Well they only see one thing and that's my previous history.
Had my 1st born, a daughter yesterday, at 35 weeks, she's in nicu, but staff has been wonderful.
Their communication is absolutely pitiful. My father waited 8 hours in the ER until he FINALLY received something for the severe pain he was in. He ended up having a minor surgery and now he is in even MORE pain than he was to begin with. As his daughter, I'm 800 miles away. I've been on the phone nonstop to get updates or any type of answer. I'm sent to different departments and am told different information. It's pathetic.
The phone numbers my father was provided for follow up questions go straight to voicemail and he has never received a call back in the entire WEEK he has been calling them. The care at this facility is absolutely terrible.
As a former employee of Geisinger Danville, I know the physicians are over booked. I worked in Pediatrics Allergy and Pulmonary departments. They schedule new patients for 1 hr visit which seems like a long time but the doctor is trying to get past medical history, become familiar w/ the patient and any issues they are having, check the patient over, diagnose, discuss and treat patient then the doctor has to update the chart w/ all of that information.
Returning patients get either a 15 or 20 min slot, depending on the doctor/specialty. This is not enough time to listen to the concerns of the patient/parent, check the patient over, diagnose, discuss and treat the patient as well as update the chart. My physicians were responsible for ROUNDS, where they leave their floor and go to the inpatient side of the hospital and check on all the patients that are admitted under their specialty as well as performing surgeries (bronchoscopy) which took a 2 hour slot.
Our ER doctors also have their patients in their specialty area and are assigned to ER duty. Dont think because you sat in the waiting room for several hours they are just sitting back there having coffee. I know my doctors worked 17 hour days and were back again 7 hours later. You maybe sitting in the waiting room and hear Life Flight landing on the roof. What you don't know is there was a terrible accident and the victim has traumatic injuries, needs to be stabilized, requires emergency surgery w/ blood transfusions. The physicians are doing their best to save the victim but perhaps they lose the battle and now have to speak to the victim's family, reach out to the chaplain to comfort the family, write a report of everything that had happened and of course update the chart.
Next time you are sitting in the ER because you nearly cut off your finger, or maybe you are in pain and running a fever - just remember, there is likely a more traumatic emergency and that is why you are waiting. Symptoms don't just all of a sudden occur and if they do they will triage you to be seen sooner. Respect these doctors and know they are exhausted but they are doing their very best to make sure everyone gets seen as soon as he possibly can.
5 hours in emergency room and all staff talk and walk but my pain worst every minute. Very bad
Husband having chest pain - go to the ER. Wait several house for a "bed", to be brought back to a chair w a semi private curtain . We r the told after some test came back negative , further tests need to be done - but that department leaves soon for the day. Next test date scheduled is in literally 2 weeks. ER doctor was very accommodating and nice , and placed several calls to department needing to do the test. Unfortunately, communication is not even good between physician staff- we call hours later after being released and are told by scheduling-"We see the order and recommendation for next day testing, but we cannot accommodate you". ER doctor did assure us that he would do everything he could to get test sooner. It's just very frustrating-! Is one to wait until something possibly fatal actually happens ,before action can be deemed urgent enough to do?? Very very sad and frustrating, especially when you are paying $1200 a month for family health insurance- this is what we are paying for......???
Waited 13 months for a Neurology appointment where Dr Gross did nothing but tell me to come back in 9 months. Just called records for the 3Rd time in 9 months trying to get my records sent to my GP and they tried to charge me! My GP sent me to Penn State Hershey started over and still faster than waiting for my next appointment!
Geisinger is my INS and of course going to a different provider who actually treated my condition is out of network. Why have Geisinger Ins in the first place? Are they just waiting for me to expire?
Was in the ER yesterday for a car accident where the car flipped and rolled on the highway. They made me clean out my own injuries and barely checked my head which later I was pulling glass and hair out. My head was full of "abrasions" and all they did was water it down. No sterilization or anything. I was sitting alone in my bed more often than seeing any doctor or nurse. Nurses were super nice but the doctor only talked to me for less than a minute. Terrible experience.
I went in with severe nausea and trouble breathing. The paramedics dismissed it as a "panic attack." However the doctors took me seriously at the ER and ran EEG, blood work and then a CT scan discovering a pulmonary embolism that could've ended my life. They did not dismiss me as a hysterical person with anxiety. They ran tests, they were thorough and saved my life. What compassionate and thorough doctors. I trust Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Charged $10,000 for a sleep study that was inconclusive. Price gouging people who need help should be illegal.
Been here since 1130 am will not let me eat or drink because there is a possibility of surgery but if it s that important then why is it taking all day for them to figure something out.
Went to orthopedic today after I was seen in urgent care on Sunday was treated horrible and im still in pain
I was seen in the ER and had the pleasure of being treated by Tia P. She was very informative and helped me immensely with my issues. She is very friendly, made eye contact often, and definitely seemed she was there to care for me and cared for my well being. We need more PA's like her. Thank you for your help!
I wish I could give zero stars. The ER here is a joke. Waited 8 hours (6 in waiting room) in severe pain. No one there cares about the patients or their comfort at all. Finally saw a (very young) Dr. who didn't seem to have a clue. When I got home to my normal Dr. in Greenwich, CT, he was appalled that the ER Dr. did not have an MRI done on my leg and put me on blood thinners for clotting. The Dr. at Geisinger simply looked at my leg, gave me pain meds, and that was it! STAY AWAY!!!!
We want to thank everyone for taking such good care of our son Connor Cooper we went in there very worried and scared and they took such care of us the staff was very nice and explained everything to us and especially the staff on the 4th floor we are very appreciative of everyone our whole family thanks you so much.
Went to their Wyoming valley hospital for severe pain on a Sunday and after 3hours of testing and CAT scan they could not determine what was happening. My HMO physician advised me the following Monday what the exact problem was after reviewing my test results. The hospital then sends an invoice for $12,000!!! to which my insurance company disagreed based on the costs being outrageously excessive for the types of services. The amount was finally settled with my out of pocket expense of $800. The $800 was pushed off to a credit collection company Penn Credit before the hospital has even sent me an invoice for the $800.
Stay clear of this place if you want professional medical care. They couldnt even provide a prognosis for my condition.
