The representatives are actually very nice. The problem is slow speeds with buffering and the internet goes out EVERY time there is a storm. I understand this is a town and not a city, but to not have service technicians that can come out on weekends is ridiculous! Plus, they use an outside company in another state for technical support that have no idea how to troubleshoot anything with GCEC. Stay away from this so called fiber optic high speed internet company!

VERY disappointed. Switched from local dsl with the promise of better service. I am a wireless customer and have constant internet outages and slow speeds. Not all of it is the fault of the wireless set up. The tower is constantly going out and needing to be rebooted. Find another provider if you have any options.

70 bucks a month for 50 down 5 up on fiber.... Add in a 200 install.

Yep not worth it, but sadly they are the only game in town on my street. Cant wait to get away from this slimy company. They dont even try or care to keep customers.

Fiber at 50/5 is a joke, VDSL can hit that, cable companies hit that ages ago.

I would like begin this review with stating 2 things:
For starters, I'm an IT professional with over a decade of hands on experience with network management.
For another, I HATE having to write reviews like this. I feel these are tough times and people NEED reliable service more than ever right now.
I've had GCEC as my ISP for over a year now. Whenever it is working, it's great. But it's not working often enough that I would never recommend it based off of my current experience. Unfortunately the only consistent thing about this service is it's unreliability. I've had tech's out to resolve connection issues several times and I just don't have the time to keep doing it. I wish I was exaggerating (I'll 100% assure you I'm not) whenever I say my service goes down at least once per day. It's not uncommon for it to drop several times a day though.
As for right now, 10:00 on a Saturday night... with teenagers..... I seek prayers to aid in my own survival at this point.

I have never had an issue with GCEC telecom. In fact, a few weeks ago I had problems with my router. Problems that were of my own doing. I called customer service, after hours mind you, and spoke with an actual person! A lovely woman tried her best to help this computer challenged person. After trying several different things she explained that she would have to make out a ticket and send a service person out to my resident. I got a phone call a few hours later from a very nice technician who was able to get my router up and running again.
In this world of outsourcing it was so nice to speak with and deal with people who truly cared about helping me.

I've had none of the issues mentioned below in other reviews. I was using a competitor in the area Cable One, but their data caps are absolutely stifling. I wish I had access to their Fiber (just a few feet where I live...) but their DSL has been solid as a rock for me with no data caps, limited disruption in almost 2 years of service. 50mb DSL line has been fine for my house that constantly streams to multiple devices/tvs, and gaming PCs... I'm content with their service thus far. Did I mention... NO DATA CAPS????
