Clean, quiet, roomy, affordable...close to basically everything ISU...

Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, WiFi is fair. Ac was pretty noisy

When visiting Iowa State or a conference at this hotel, this is a great place to stay. It was convenienr and comfortable and has a restaurant in the center. Rooms are clean and comfortable, front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Pretty grounds and lobby too. No complaints!

Clean, neat way better than average hotels. I always enjoy staying here when I visit Ames.

The hotel was nice. It has been around for awhile but they have done a good job of keeping it up to date.

Used the ballroom at the Gateway for a commencement ceremony. Staff was professional and quick.

I am currently working at the gateway hotel and conference center it is a nice and cozy place to stay we will have all new beds by the end of summer

Tons of parking and huge banquet room. The food was excellent!

Friendly and helpful staff at a convenient location to sporting events and restaurants. Only got to see the conference center, though and the prices seemed a little high.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Mostly clean rooms but have a lack of light. Grout in the bathroom shower could use a scrubbing as well, but overall pretty ok.

The event coordinator did a good job showing and explaining the building and services

They were over booked and did not honor my pre-paid reservation. Big disappointment.

My daughter is getting married here in September. So far the staff has been great. Very informative, professional and helpful. Today we did the tasting to see what we wanted. It was all delicious!

Honestly, this place was great. I loved the service, the room, the bar, the breakfast buffet.

The ballroom is very nice, and the event staff is very professional. And their new chef does amazing stuff.

Its a great hotel in ames. It has 2 queen size bed and overall good rooms in general.

Attend an award luncheon for work. The facility was clean, the staff was quick and polite, and the food that was served was excellent.

Location convenient, room had king bed, recently updated bathroom, clean, plenty of towels, pillows and bed comfortable. No fridge in rooms. Staff friendly, helpful, efficient. Buffet breakfast well stocked and plentiful. Did not use the pool or exercise room as we spent our time bike riding. Rates were very reasonable.

I was pleasantly surprised by staying at this hotel for a short course for an Iowa university. I had room number 340 and it was nice and quiet. The shower was large and had great hot water to matter the time of day. My bed was comfortable and cozy. I did need to place a towel to prevent hallway light from coming in, though.

The housekeeping staff did a great job each day and kept the room clean. I don t recall if I asked for a refrigerator and microwave, but I did have both while others did not.

There is a fitness room (free weights, combo machine, stationary bike and a few treadmills) is accessible through the pool (little deep pool and hot tub). The hot tub was out of service one morning and was quickly repaired by the same day in the evening.

Be careful with room selection on the 3rd floor because not only are there elevators and ice makers that make noise to keep you up, but there s also a stairway that many people cross from the standard building to the executive side. There are two doors that most people let slam shut behind them as they make their way to the main elevators to get back to the lobby or the restaurant.

I got free coupons for the breakfast and I d recommend it. They open at 6:30am during the week and have a nice selection of hot foods and juices. There are also some good food options near campus - cantina 39, Provisions Lot F and The Spice Thai Cuisine were all very tasty.

A bit outdated decor and overall look of the hotel, but everything is in working order and functional. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very nice hotel. Rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable. Wedding and all the the wedding festivities were held there and it was well done! Staff especially - very professional. It was cool to see all of the ISU history, even though I'm not a fan! :)

Rooms were nice and the workout facility has free weights which is hard to come by. Was only disappointed that the wifi was really bad and no free breakfast

I attended a wedding conference at the Gateway. It was clean and very hospitable. I enjoyed being able to try caterers and see wedding dresses, however, I thought the event was a little small.

We had our wedding reception at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center this summer, and could not be happier with how things turned out!! Everyone we were in contact with at the Gateway leading up to the wedding was SO helpful, and our reception turned out even more perfect than we had hoped. Our guests could not stop talking about how great the food was, and the staff made sure my husband and I and our families had nothing to worry about that evening. If you are looking for a wedding reception venue in the Ames area, you won't find a more wonderful place than the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center!!

Great location for hosting conferences. Many amenities and close to the ISU campus.

Attended a wedding, and the setting was beautiful and service staff did a very good job.

No microwave, no mini fridge. Food was overpriced and terrible. Service was awful. Room was greatly overpriced. "Complimentary" breakfast costs 13 dollars per adult and has exactly the same choices as every complimentary breakfast at every other hotel ever. At least ten other hotels nearby, choose any other one but this one.

I just went and had breakfast and it was very upscale and served a great tasting breakfast.

This was a very happy surprise. We picked Ames as an overnight stop on a road trip because we were interested in a few of the sights on the Iowa State campus. This hotel is very conveniently located to the campus, but if you want to walk downtown it would be a bit of a hike.

The place was spotlessly clean, the rooms were spacious, quiet, and comfortable, and there are a bar and restaurant on site. Often when I travel I pick a "name brand" hotel because even if they are not great, at least you know what to expect. In this case I'm glad I chose something different. This was much nicer than the usual chain places.

A special shout out to the staff: All were very friendly and helpful, and when we found we had left an item behind, they found it and offered to mail it back to us free of charge. The customer service is greatly appreciated.

Wanted to cook a frozen pizza and staff was very rude and wanted to charge me 5$ to rent a microwave.. 1st what kind of savage eats microwaved pizza and 2nd don't tell me a conference center doesn't have an oven.. what a bunch of hill Billy's.. do NOT stay here.

The center was easy to navigate, clean, and great for both large meetings and breakout sessions. Staff were quick and helpful.

Hotel has definitely improved with the new renovations they did in the hallways. Might I suggest adding a renovation for the guest rooms next? Overall great stay!

Located just off the highway. Attended a social event in a conference room. The staff was helpful and professional. Everything looked clean and organized. Would definitely look to here for future needs.

The Gateway Hotel and Conference Center is a must if you need a place to stay in Ames. Management is fantastic, service was great, and the rooms are pristine.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. Bathroom amenaties were also good. The hotel is located just on the other side of the interstate from Iowa State and it take about 3 minutes to get to campus. Has a good reastaurant and a neato pool.
