Nice rooms and great staff, would be nice to have a fridge in the room for the price however!

The hotel was very nice and clean but there was not a continental breakfast...just a buffet for $12.00. It would have been nice if they offered a discount to people and groups that stay at the hotel. We were there with our whole basketball team.

Nice hotel. Several of us went to the bar, hard to get served. Bartender was more interest in talking to the gal serving than helping g us. Lost at least 3 rounds from 7a. We went elsewhere.

The food was delicious, the service was good, and the event we held was great. I'd recommend hosting an event here.

Iron didn't work, breakfast was cold and it smells.

There was so much black mold in my room. Not only black mold but overall just very dirty. I also went into several other rooms of people that were staying with me and their rooms were also very dirty and had black mold! Will never stay here again.

Your responds about it being mildew and not black mold in incorrect. Also I mentioned it was a very dirty room. It appeared some spilled something on the wall and it was never cleaned, the was hair on one of the beds and in the shower.

Food at their restaurant was great, service was mediocre. Give it a try son

I like the hotel, staff is very friendly and helpful. However i do find the pricing a bit on the higher side. For example the restaurant costs. Room service is almost the same price as 7 pieces of wings to give you an idea

Had a nice stay here over the weekend. Standard amenities and the room was older, but not outdated. Nice staff and the kids loved the pool.

getting through the halls with multiple weddings was tough, food was mediocre

We had the BEST wedding reception and guest rooms experience at Gateway! The Staff, the Food, the beverages, the rooms, the ambiance. ....everything was top drawer and I recommend Gateway Hotel and Conference center for your Event!

Was there for just a short time. Rooms are very nice. The AC was already on which was awesome since it was over 90 outside. Great facility overall!

We ate brunch at The Iowa Stater Restaurant. We were seated quickly with a large group and had great service. The brunch buffet is one of the best in town. We especially like the build your own omelet station.

Attended a wedding in the rooms. The service was appropriate and the food was amazing. It's always important to know what you want and clarify multiple times specifics. Wait staff were always kind and curious.

Dinner at the Iowa Stater was very good. Server was friendly and attentive.

Good hotel, but seemed a little run down. Loved all the ISU memorabilia in the lobby! Will definitely stay again.

Conference Center was very easy to get in and out of and had plenty of parking.

My family stayed here when we went to an ISU football game this October 2016. I booked the hotel through Travelocity and when we returned home I noticed the hotel had charged me as well as Travelocity. I called and spoke to the manager and she said she would reverse the charges. Over the next week they charged my card an additional 4 times for a total of $1500.00. I have been waiting 2 months to have the charges reversed and am still waiting on one charge reversal. I have called at least 25 times and still no resolution. I have had to file a dispute with my credit card company at this point trying to get my money back. Their manager doesn't return phone calls and seems inept. After the first 4 erroneous charges she was answering my phone calls and promised a free night stay for all my troubles. I never received the gift card for the free night stay and now she won't return my phone calls and I still don't have my money credited back. Something very crooked about their financial system and management. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone for the sole reason of credit card fraud. I have spent numerous hours trying to get my money back. Very frustrating experience, especially for a hotel that is supposed to be in the service industry.

Is and has always been an Ames staple hotel. The main areas and conference centers are fabulously well appointed, the rooms sorta need an update but the bed and pillows are great so not a lot to complain about. It is a labyrinth so do ask how to get where you need.

Clean rooms. Nice front desk. Restaurant inside the hotel wasn't open because of covidof course, but they would still cook ur food for u if u ordered. Clean rooms. Only bad thing was its pet friendly. So my daughter who's 2 kind of got a allergic reaction to something in there even tho it looked clean to the naked eye. I don't like pet friendly hotels. Woule give 5 stars if it wasn't pet friendly. Dogs barked all night long.

A decent hotel near the edge of Ames. The bar has drinks and the internet works well enough for browsing the web.

Nice hotel. Plenty of parking and good location for a interview. Hotel is located just off HWY 30.

Walk for miles to get anywhere. Hot in some conference rooms and freezing in others. Food court prices are ridiculous. Not impressed.

Smaller pool, outdated. Unfortunately no contential breakfast, no fridge in room. Comfy beds. Definitely not family friendly unless you want to eat out every meal.

I attended an event in one of the conference rooms. Despite the hotels run-down exterior, the interior was generally beautiful and clean, except for the gaudy Iowa State University murals along the hallway. I've been to the Iowa Stater before, and it's a OK restaurant. The light desserts served at the event were really good, though. The actual room was set up well, beautiful, and all the equipment worked. I would recommend Gateway for events and conferences.

Service was fine, but the hotel itself is a little on the dark and depressing side.

Rooms were very nice, visited on off season so they were cheap too. Always nice to see the Iowa State spirit. Location isn't Central but isn't far away either

Everything was good, except when a cockroach crawled into my bed. I saw another one in the hallway, so that was not an anomaly. Decent wifi and pool. Won't stay again.

Very good hotel. Quite a kot of space in the room, nice Interior design, helpful staff. Also the surrounding is very nice.

prices are reasonable, and close to where I need to go. Lots of parking. Downside is open internet, tiny workout room, restaurant is average at best (some of the time, coffee/juice is set out with breakfast to grab as you wish and other times they aren't so you have to wait for a server.) One morning I sat for breakfast to find no silverware at my table (and no coffee set out). I waited for several minutes as I watched the server go to other tables and completely ignore me. Eventually I got up and moved my stuff to another table with silverware, but still, no recognition and sadly for me, no coffee. I get they aren't paid much, but then just set everything out for people to grab themselves. Also, breakfast is the same everyday, so I hope you like your scrambled eggs with cheese...

The waiting area by the front desk was very classy.

Excellent service. The bar has a varied selection. Navigating the building is a bit counterintuitive and the maps help little. Wonderful ambience and conference rooms.

Went to the restaurant for the buffet breakfast. Overall the meal was good for the price. The potatoes were slightly undercooked but I he rest of the food was good!

Pretty hotel, great location near Reiman Gardens and Jack Trice Stadium. The rooms feel a little dated, but are still well kept.

Hotel was under construction when I visited but I hardly noticed. Great place to hold meetings and small conferences. Staff is great to work with and it s in a very good and accessible location

Poor staff, knew i left my fitbit there and still noonebhas returnrd call about even though before battery died i could locate it to here. Very poor planning and design ofthis building debating on contacting police about my fitbit. Very poor customer service.

Restaurant was empty but was put on wait list for a table. Food was good. Room could have been cleaner. Food or something stuck on ceiling. Windows very dirty.

Gateway provides the opportunity to use there exercise facilities for a fee. The fee is very reasonable and the facilities are nice. Only drawback is no shower.

Reserved a section of the Iowa Stater restaurant for an event. Staff was attentive and food was good, but felt expensive for the quality. Good experience overall.

Comfy room with a few flaws (no power outlet near bed, wobbly shower head and the desk light was not working). Other than that the personnel was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant has very good options for dinner.

The rooms are great. Super comfortable bed. Clean. Food was good in the restaurant. Friendly staff for our event.
