Fantastic experience at the Gate this evening. The Beacon is a wonderful play. Congrats to the Director and to the Cast. We were in awe of their portrayal from start to finish. The set also deserves mention, skillfully constructed and extremely well managed. Lighting was ingenious- done to perfection, the changes in time of day captured so well; even the glow of the stove had its place. My only criticism is that it had to end...but we left satisfied that we had experienced a play that will go far. Well done Gate Theatre.

We saw The Great Gatsby production in February. I say we saw but it should read we participated because this immersive rendition truely pulls you in the play. You drink, dance, and chat away with the cast. It is all but impossible not to feel that you are a guest at one of Gatsby's famed decadant parties.

We went to see the snapper last night on top of it being an excellent show, the staff there were extremely nice and helpful. I can honestly say I was moved by my experience, I had organised a babysitter for us to go out only to realise I made a mistake and showed up on the wrong date (eek) , well they saw the sincerity and how things can happen and made efforts for us to see the show. They gave us stools to use up front, then at the interval found us 2 unoccupied seats. It really brought back what Dublin and it's people can be like and has left a lasting feeling that I will value. The Gate Theatre is top of my list for future bookings. Thank you ladies and gentle men.

Good quality theatre with a variety of bars and a welcoming approach. We saw the first run of "The Red Shoes" which was enjoyable and demonstrated the wide variety of performances in the theatre's schedule.

Wonderful old theatre and the performance of Hamlet by Ruth Negga was amazing. Being an old theatre the seats are not designed for modern people and if you happen to be short sat behind a tall person it can be frustrating.

Theatre is certainly not as luxiurous as others in Dublin it is small but that's ok for intimate performances. It gets very warm even in winter I noticed a few people fanning themselves. My male friend got uncomfortable with leg room area. Ceiling is pretty and chandeliers but again nothing spectacular. Cramped entrances and exits feel slightly dangerous and claustrophobic. Staff are courteous and nice.

Love this place, it's a very old building, beautifully atmospheric. Small theatre, comfy seats and you're never too far from the stage. They have an excellent range of productions. I have seen Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Romeo and Juliet and The Snapper to name a few.

I've rarely been disappointed by a visit to the Gate. They generally have high quality performances and the production values are very good.

In particular I always look forward to seeing the set design, for me they have the best of any irish theatre.
From the weir's country pub complete with working fireplace to the ruined office of glengarry glenross.

The likes of Ralph Fiennes, david Walliams and Michael Gambon have all graced the stage here too.

Very nicely decorated intimate venue, we saw the Snapper, a Roddy Doyle play, we had seats at the middle third of the venue but had no problems seeing or hearing the play.
TOP TIP, there were big queues for the bathroom, so if you need a comfort break time for just before the second act of the show, the queues have died down

Love the venue very nice staff and easy to get to. Would love if there was a lift but didnt see one. The ladies toilets are a bit small or maybe its just the location od the dryer inside the door as you are waiting to be hit by the door opening

I was a bit disappointed with the Gate Theatre this evening. We had bought tickets for A Christmas Carol costing 53 euros for 2 people. We were in row HH. The theatre seating was reconfigured for this production. Im afraid this did not work for us very well at all. We couldnt see well because we were on the same level as the people in front whilst most other rows were raised one step above the one below. My husband kept having to move his head back and forth to see the stage. We realised immediately and tried to leave before the performance began and get a refund. But they said this was clear in the website plan when booking and we could not get refunded. but im afraid you must make it more clear, and describe it as a partial view. I dont think you realise sometimes that for many people going to the theatre is a treat and not something that all of us can afford to do often. Also the temporary seats were not very comfortable on our row. I liked the production but it was a bit of a disappointing evening.

***I'd just like to add that they have now promised to refund our tickets, and have sent a polite response acknowledging that they appreciate the feedback I sent to them

The Gate Theatre, along with the Abbey, is an experience that you should see and hear for yourself. Intimate and ornate, they allow audiences to get right up to the performance or be as removed as one would like. If you have a chance, see for yourselves.
